Attract cash by being cool : Exploring the impact of brand coolness on customers willingness-to-pay

Jansson, Karl, Johansson, Simon January 2021 (has links)
Background: Brand coolness is a research area that has been established in prior research. Brand coolness has been defined as a subjective, dynamic, socially constructed, and positive trait brands have. Cool brands can be recognized by the attributes extraordinary, aesthetically appealing, energetic, high status, original, authentic, rebellious, subcultural, iconic, and popular. The formation of cool brands and its consequences has been encouraged to be further investigated in prior research. This study incorporates consequences following brand coolness into the value-attitude-behavior model to see the degree of association with increased willingness-to-pay. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to increase the understanding of brand coolness and its impact on the willingness-to-pay through consumers’ values, attitudes and behavior. Methodology: This study uses a quantitative research approach, conducting an online questionnaire with 202 respondents. The data from the questionnaire is then analysed through descriptive statistics, correlation- and bivariate regression analyses.   Findings: The main findings of this study is that all of the five measured brand coolness concepts within values, attitudes and behavior have a significant association with increased willingness-to-pay. The study strengthens prior findings in the research area of brand coolness and adds new knowledge regarding the possible order of prioritization when aiming to increase willingness-to-pay. Managerial implications: The results of the study enables to present an order of prioritization for companies to use when aiming to increase the willingness-to-pay through developed brand coolness. In order to maximize the increase of willingness to make a financial sacrifice for the brand the focus should mainly be on increasing brand love and brand attitude, followed by word-of-mouth, status and self-brand connection.

Brand Evaluation and Its Antecedents of Chinese Internet Portal Sites

魏秉慈, Wei, Ping-Tse Unknown Date (has links)
This research is to probe the impacts of motives, time spent, and product knowledge on the brand evaluations from the perspective of Internet portal users. A comprehensive model is proposed to depict the multiple linkages among the constructs of interest. As students are the main market segment for the Internet business, undergraduate and graduate students from various faculties at Taiwan's universities were recruited as the research subjects. The survey was presented in a questionnaire format. The research results indicate that each type of motives has different effects on product knowledge and time spent on the Internet. Both general and self-training motives have positive influences on product knowledge. However, recreation motive has a negative impact on the product knowledge. For the time spent on the Internet, general and recreation motives have similar results. The stronger the general or recreation motive, the longer the time spent on the Internet. In contrast, the stronger the self-training motive, the less the time spent on the Internet. The tested model also shows that self-training motive has positive relationships with service quality and brand attitude. In addition, longer time spent will lead to increases in product knowledge and satisfaction level. Moreover, the findings indicate that product knowledge has a positive impact on service quality. High product knowledge people have a better idea how to compare the products by using functional attributes. Since service quality is considered one offactors for evaluating satisfaction level, there is a linkage between service quality and satisfaction. The relationship between these two variables is positive because consumers must be able to perceive positive service quality first in order to have high satisfaction level. Moreover, The relationship between satisfaction and brand attitude is positive. Consumers build their brand attitude through observation and experience. Overall satisfaction is definitely one of influential factors on brand attitude. To obtain trust from customers is one of the hardest thing for firms. Customers must be able to perceive good service quality before long-term commitment. The final construct of the conceptual framework is brand attitude, which is contingent on trust and satisfaction. Internet portal business in Taiwan may not be a new industry for many people. However, the recent collapses on the e-Commerce industry prove that people still have a lot to learn, especially the consumer behaviors of Internet users. The research concludes that brand evaluations from consumers are in a network of causal relationships with constructs such as motives, time spent, and product knowledge.

Consumers' perceptions when evaluating brand extensions in relation to the original brand

Chuma Diniso January 2008 (has links)
<p>This study examines how consumers perceive the overall quality and similarity/fit of the brand extensions (Nike camera, Nike socks, and Nike golf balls) in relation to the original brand (Nike athletic shoes) and how these perceptions influence their attitudes towards the extensions. The researcher proposes that the perceived overall quality of the brand extensions will be congruent to that of the original brand and that the attitude towards the brand extensions will be favourable only when there is a perceived similarity/fit between the brand extensions and the original brand. In order to get these insights, the study surveyed 147 undergraduate and postgraduate students from the University of the Western Cape across all faculties. A non-probability convenience sampling method was used to access respondents. To collect data, qualitative and quantitative methods were employed using a questionnaire which consisted of open-ended and closed-ended questions in the form of free associations technique and 5-point Likert scales. The data gathered was analysed by means of descriptive statistics and Spearman correlation coefficient. The findings indicate two things. (1) respondents only perceived Nike socks&rsquo / overall quality to be congruent to the original brand, Nike athletic shoes. (2) respondents only perceived Nike socks to be strongly similar to the original brand, Nike athletic shoes.</p>

Effekten av en stjärna : En undersökning om branschutmärkelsers effekter ur ett kundperspektiv / The effect of a star : A study of the effect of industry awards through a customer perspective

Karsheimer, Emma, Svensson, Madelene January 2018 (has links)
Purpose and research questions The purpose of this study is to identify possible effects that industry awards might have on consumer awareness, attitude, loyalty and on consumer’s self-image towards a brand. The following research questions are answered through the study: Which effect do industry awards have on brand awareness, brand attitude and brand loyalty? Which effect do industry awards have on the consumer’s self-image?  Method This study largely takes on a deductive approach by formulating hypotheses. A survey was conducted with questions based on the theory. The collected data was analyzed through a quantitative as well as a qualitative perspective. The quantitative analysis identified a survey mean which was evaluated against a threshold value. In the qualitative analysis, the significance of the answers was further interpreted and explained. Conclusion According to the results of this study, industry awards do not lead to an increase of brand awareness, positive brand attitudes or an increased brand loyalty. A few of the separate components within the scopes of survey has shown a vague increase. However, according to the result industry awards have a neutral effect. This means that at the same time as no significant increases have been identified, neither have any significant decreases. Furthermore, the results showed that the consumer’s self-image had the lowest effect of industry awards.

Mansilla Vera, Andrea 26 November 2019 (has links)
Women gender stereotypes in advertising is a topic that has been researched for several decades, in which they have been represented on a lower position than their male counterparts in traditional roles, roles that women today would not be identified with and that would cause a desfavorable attitude towards a brand. The aim of this research is to analyze what gender stereotypes are perceived to generate a favorable perception of attitudes towards a brand on Facebook. This is a qualitative research composed of 20-24 year old women students from the careers of Medicine and Environmental Engineering, to learn about their thoughts for advertising about the Pilsen Callao Brand. The findings show a favorable perception on issues of women's gender equality roles, which would motivate them to interact on Facebook, strengthen emotional bonds with the brand that would produce an active engagement with the brand on Facebook. / Tesis
