Somatické charakteristiky krasobruslařek v České republice / Somatic characteristics of female figure skaters in the Czech Republic

Kroulíková, Soňa January 2013 (has links)
SOMATIC CHARACTERISTICS OF FEMALE FIGURE SKATERS IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC Objectives: The aim of the thesis is to find out specific somatic characteristics and somatotypes of female figure skaters in the Czech Republic. Subsequently relationships between measured somatic characteristics and normative of general population, and relationships between actual data and previous studies of female figure skaters are being examined. Methods: We use somatometric measurements to determine selected somatic characteristics (weight, height, eg.). We use the Heath-Carter method of somatotyping. Results: Female figure skaters are smaller than general population of the same age. In terms of physical height, one half of figure skaters is above population average while second half is under the average of population. Female figure skaters in this study are taller and heavier than figure skaters in previous study (Šelingerová, 1988) and they are more endomorphic. Prevailing somatotype is mesomorphic endomorph. Keywords: figure skating, somatic characteristics, somatotype, Heath-Carter method

Why brush up your Shakespeare and your theory?: an Angela Carter companion to myths / Why brush up your Shakespeare and your theory?: an Angela Carter companion to myths

Tarso do Amaral de Souza Cruz 22 March 2011 (has links)
This dissertation aims at studying what came to be known as the Shakespeare myth and its relation to the contemporary literary production, exemplified by English novelist Angela Carters novel Wise Children. Such objective intends to be achieved by a theoretical revision of elements related to French philosopher Rolan Barthess concept of myth, such as the traditional concept of myth, Structuralism, Post-structuralism, Marxist ideological critique, as well as Cultural Studies. A study of the historical processes which led to and helped propagate the Shakespeare myth is also carried out in this dissertation: the pre-Romantic and the Romantic appropriation of the figure and works of William Shakespeare; the association of the figure of Shakespeare with the British Empires national identity; the advent of the Shakespeare industry; and the role the adaptation of the Shakespearean play had in the propagation of the Shakespeare myth

No. of bitstreams: 1 arquivototal.pdf: 2055386 bytes, checksum: 54b255e3d880369a58d905d38a9ae31b (MD5) Previous issue date: 2017-02-02 / The increase in life expectancy registered in the last decades in Brazil was one of the most important achievements of society and brought new challenges in several areas of human knowledge. In order to know the future behavior of life expectancy, the goal of this work was to project the mortality of the Brazilian Semi-Arid from 2015 to 2050. The following methodological steps were performed: obtaining the correction factors of the deaths. Construction of complete Mortality Tables, assembling of databases with the age structure of annual mortality rates from 1980 to 2014, application of the Lee-Carter method for projection of mortality levels and patterns. This method combines a demographic model with a time series model. The projected life expectancies for the year 2050 for the Semi-arid States ranged from 78.25 to 83.82 years. It was concluded that the method produced plausible estimates of mortality levels and standards for most of the geographical areas of the Semi-Arid States, whose Mortality Tables produced may constitute important subsidies in the planning of health and welfare actions and in decision making for the populations of the Semiarid.

The following compositions were discussed: Concerto for Orchestra, Double Concerto for Harpsichord and Piano with Two Chamber Orchestras, 8 Etudes and a Fantasy for Woodwind Quartet, Holiday Overture, Piano Concerto, Sonata for Flute, Oboe, Cello, and Harpsichord, Sonata for Violoncello and Piano, String Quartet No. 1, String Quartet No. 2, String Quartet No. 3, Variations for Orchestra. The Piano Sonata was Ty and Schumann. In addition to the lecture recital, three public solo recitals were performed. The first solo recital, performed on April 2, 1973, consisted of works by Bartok, Debussy The second solo recital, performed on October 28, 1974, included works by Bach and Liszt. The final solo recital, performed on March 7, 1976, consisted of works by Beethoven and Chopin. All four programs were recorded on magnetic tape and are filed, along with the written version of the lecture recital, as part of the dissertation. performed.

Preferential Strategies in Elliott Carter's String Quartet No. 2

Crafton, Elizabeth B. 05 1900 (has links)
For the purposes of expressive intent, Carter developed compositional strategies that possess qualities congruent with the musical language in his Second Quartet (1959). He employed strategies including tempo modulation, triple groupings, and large-scale ratios to assemble the musical discourse and to guide the listener's perception of large-scale continuity. I label these devices collectively as "preferential strategies" because it is Carter who selects certain pre-compositional ideas that organize musical material and demarcate structural locations. Tempo modulations that organize dual meters and triple groupings that interact in transitional and transformational ways demonstrate his concern with controlling the overall time continuity through local level organization. Large-scale ratio relations between nine interlocking sections of this four movement work illustrate how Carter employs a local strategy that projects a large-scale structure. Recognizing that Carter's ultimate compositional goal prioritizes temporal processes, these proposed preferred strategies articulate a convergence of musical elements.

Projekce úmrtnosti podle příčin úmrtí / Mortality projections by cause

Štádlerová, Kateřina January 2013 (has links)
The thesis focuses on the mortality projections by causes of death. The thesis includes also the application of such knowledge on the data of the Czech population. The mortality projections are used nowadays more and more often due to the population ageing. The results of this thesis may be interesting both for financial institutions such as insurance companies and for the purposes of certain areas of government policy with regards to the pension planning. So far not many articles have been published in the Czech language, nor are there any published results of similar projections using the data derived from the Czech environment.
