Abstract: The present work has the objective of taking as source, in the scope of its writing, the "Relatório do Inquérito Leituras Infantis", made by Cecilia Meireles with students from Rio de Janeiro, from the third until the fifth year of primary school, in the year of 1931 and published in 1934. In addition, its purpose is to know and interpret the data offered by this report about the literature read by the children and also the children's preferred reading in the 30's, through the preferences and aversions to the books, authors, genders and the reading matter from the point of view of the interviewees. Based on the theoretical-methodological studies of Cultural History (Chartier, 1990), it was understood that it was necessary to be cautious about the answers given by the children, because they are not in a neutral field, but a field of fights and competitions, where the groups try to impose their values and ideas, indicating what they had read, liked or disliked, and what the child felt he should respond to the interviewer about what they had read or appreciated. Furthermore, the organization and interpretation of the "Inquérito Leituras Infantis" made by Cecilia Meireles, is also part of this game of representations connected to the history of the reading and the literature for children in a certain time and space. / Mestrado / Educação, Conhecimento, Linguagem e Arte / Mestre em Educação

Patientutvärdering av Dr. Cecilia med rekommenderade framtida implementationer / Patient evaluation of Dr. Cecilia with recommended future implementations

Kilinc, Derya, Dahn, Leonardo January 2014 (has links)
Today, adolescent females represent the majority of people suffering from eating disorders with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and EDNOS (eating disorder not otherwise specified) being the most common diagnoses. Mando Group AB treats patients with eating disorders and has for the sake of the patients developed the computer software ‘Doctor Cecilia’ which is a virtual caretaker to whom patients may direct their queries. Mando Group AB has stated that the usage of the software has not reached the desirable level amongst their patients. Moreover, the software has not been subject to an evaluation. The purpose of this thesis has been to produce suggestions of potential improvements for ‘Doctor Cecilia’ by consulting patients in order to evaluate these improvements as well as the software in general. As such, an investigation was conducted at two Mandometer-clinics in order to clarify the opinions of the patients regarding the software itself and the potential improvements which are presented by this thesis. The results showed that the patients were in favor of the implementation of for instance voice response, two-way communication and the opportunity to see frequently asked questions. The results of this thesis have been used to produce recommended implementations that could improve the software and eventually increase its usage.

Warping the word and weaving the visual : textile aesthetics in the poetry and the artwork of Jorge Eduardo Eielson and Cecilia Vicuña / Textile aesthetics in the poetry and the artwork of Jorge Eduardo Eielson and Cecilia Vicuña

Clark, Meredith Gardner 19 July 2012 (has links)
The present work explores the presence of Andean textile imagery in the poetry and the visual art of Jorge Eduardo Eielson and Cecilia Vicuña with the goal of illustrating how these woven aesthetics enrich the content of the written word and other artistic media by supplementing them with non-verbal, visual and tactile planes of meaning. Through the discourse of the thread, Eielson and Vicuña generate an alternative means of expression that dialogues with the conventionality of human language, the creation of cultural memory and the connection between intercultural groups. To prove this thesis, I approach the authors’ poetry and visual art based on theoretical and cultural studies regarding the materiality and the visuality of the text and other media in combination with a comparative analysis of the structural and the design properties of Andean and indigenous cloth products, namely the tejido and the khipu. In addition to close readings of poems that illustrate how the presence of the textile augments the meaning of the written text, I also illustrate how Andean weaving aesthetics provide the metaphorical springboard of comparison upon which a critical analysis of their visual art is based. / text

Interdisciplinary Approaches to Musical Portraiture of the Late Renaissance and Early Baroque: Reading Musical Portraits as Gendered Dialogues

Pyle, Sarah 14 January 2015 (has links)
Sixteenth- and seventeenth-century portraits from the Italian peninsula that depict women with keyboard instruments have been discussed as an apparent trend by feminist art historians and musicologists. While the connection between these portraits and the well-known iconography of the musical St. Cecilia has been noted, the association between keyboard instruments and the female body has been less frequently explored. In this study, I use methodologies from feminist theory and gender studies, most notably gender performativity, in order to explore how an artist's dialogue between the portrait subject and her instrument creates and is created by complex relationships ingrained by the dominant patriarchal structures that circumscribed women's lives at the time. To realize these interpretive goals, I have chosen two paintings that are less often discussed in art historical and musicological literature: the self-portrait attributed to Marietta Robusti, and St. Cecilia Playing the Keyboard in the style of Artemisia Gentileschi.
