Inter-organizational Relations In An Organized Industrial District: Ostim Case

Goksidan, Tolga Hadi 01 February 2006 (has links) (PDF)
Over recent years, the study of industrial districts, and inter-organizational relations has become a major theme of interest in network research. Theories characterized by an increased inter-relatedness between heterogeneous actors and knowledge fields point to a new form of inter-organizational relationship development. This is basicly based on the idea of creating trust between firms to increase their chances of success and to keep pace with the development of all relevant technologies. In this thesis, we present some data from a research project we have conducted in OSTIM industrial district, Ankara, Turkey. First, we present the theoretical perspectives which appear relevant to such investigation, and which aims at developing a better a network model of the inter-organizational relations of district firms, as well as trust, informal contracts and centrality issues, particularly as regards technological innovation and technology transfer of firms, respectively. Moreover, the evidence presented in this thesis is unequivocal in noting that long term inter-organizational relations and trust may be a necessary and a sufficent condition for a small and medium sized enterprise (SME) to take its place in the center of a complex web of inter-organizational relations as seen in an industrial district.

Job Insecurity and Its Consequences : Investigating Moderators, Mediators and Gender

Richter, Anne January 2011 (has links)
This thesis focuses on the relations between job insecurity and its consequences by addressing several specific research aims. The first research aim focused on expanding the range of job insecurity consequences by studying the relation between job insecurity and work–family conflict over time. In Study 3 it was found that job insecurity affected work–family conflict one year later among men. The second research aim addressed mechanisms involved in the job insecurity–outcome relations, focusing on factors that might make employees more vulnerable to, or buffer against the negative effects of job insecurity. Coping styles were investigated as potential moderating factors in Study 1, where it was found that problem-focused coping did not function as a buffer, nor did devaluation or avoidance coping. Avoidance coping was actually a vulnerability factor for men, and related to more negative reactions to job insecurity in terms of well-being. Two forms of job dependence as potential moderating factors of the relations between job insecurity and its outcomes were investigated in Study 2. It was found that the relative contribution to the household income functioned as a vulnerability factor for men. Higher levels of work centrality combined with either quantitative or qualitative job insecurity were related to higher levels of job satisfaction among women. Finally, in Study 3, workload was investigated as a mediating variable of the relation between job insecurity and its outcomes, where workload linked job insecurity to work–family conflict one year later among men. The third research aim of this thesis addressed gender, where differences between men and women were found in all three studies. Overall men seemed to suffer more from job insecurity. The results of the thesis confirm the negative impact of job insecurity, but also provide information regarding important areas for future research to study, such as the investigation of mechanisms and the role of gender. / At the time of the doctoral defense, the following papers were unpublished and had a status as follows: Paper 1: Submitted. / This work seeks to analyze the new consumption spaces in the central area of Anápolis, in the state of Goiás starting from the informal trade, once there is an interaction among the several spaces produced in the urban way, so contributing, for an interpretation of the existent practices in the city. In this perspective, we discussed the use and appropriation of some streets in the center by the street-fakers and travelings besides the street-fakers place and a popular shoppings that for its time markets products that are acquired by the people that circulate in those spaces, being taken in consideration the consumption that creates and (re)creates a reality that shimmers the forms and functions of the and in the city as the show of the capital (re)production and as articulated elements to the process of (re)production of the urban space in medium load cities. We started of the idea that the main and traditional center redefine its uses, taking as base the location strategies of the said informal activities in this interior, reaffirming the centrality expressed in the context of the preexistents relationships, because the singularities of the functions involve an evaluation of the new commercialization ways of the tertiary sector. We accomplished an analysis developed by means of the rising and bibliographical revision, field research and data analysis for the understanding of Anápolis downtown dynamics starting from the informal trade performance.

Combinando centralidade de intermediação e demanda de tráfego para identificação de pontos centrais em redes viárias / Identifying central points in road networks using betweenness centrality

Batista, Rodrigo de Abreu January 2015 (has links)
This work consists of a study of applicability of betweenness centrality combined with traffic demands in road networks with the objective of identifying their central points. By central points we refer to those which appear with high frequency among the paths used by drivers that move along the road network. It is an exploratory study, which begins with the application of the betweenness centrality on simple networks, extending to simulations on networks based on real maps. In this study we have analyzed the behavior of the metric over the network topology - i.e. without considering demand, as well as experiments considering demands with several magnitudes. To illustrate the proposed method, the results are compared with betweenness centrality values calculated over roadways occupation rates extracted from microscopic simulation. At the end, evidence that the proposed method can explain traffic flows with better performance than the original betweenness centrality were presented. However, the proposed method was shown to be very sensitive to the cost function used in the allocation of the graph network traffic demand. The best results demonstrated by the proposed approach were obtained in experiments on nonregular networks and non-uniform traffic demands. In the case of regular networks with uniform demand, the best performance was obtained by calculating the betweenness centrality without considering the demand, but assigning the unitary cost to the edges of the network graph.

Marchés financiers de l'Afrique centrale : changements structurels et performances / financial marcket of central africa : structural changes and performances

Babagnack, Paul 27 June 2018 (has links)
The sub-region Central Africa, in the perspective of continuing the construction of its economic and common Monetary Area (CEMAC) strengthened has died to set up a stock exchange of Central Africa (BVMAC) for the development of its system common financial system with subregional competence.Meanwhile, one of the member countries, in this case Cameroon has a stock exchange, the Douala Stock Exchange (DSX), with the same objectives but national competence. There are therefore problems of competition, competiveness and efficiency. In short, a problem of performance of the two stock exchanges weakening the financing of its economy by the financial market to the detriment of the major potential beneficiaries that are the companies. How to structure and reorganize the financial markets of Central Africa to improve their performance in financing its economy? This question then raises the issue of the reconstruction of CEMAC’s financial markets. To answer this main question, it is necessary to take into account two constituent determinants of CEMAC: The Economic Union of Central Africa (UEAC)And The Central Africa Monatry Union (UMAC)In order to support four theories namely: Optimal Monetary Zone theory Centrality theory Mutualization theory Structural change (organization)But also empirically, to know how is organized according to the current models, that is to say the international standards of different financial markets around the world. To demonstrate the constraint of consolidating these two financial markets in the same community space on the basic of the CODERE model is strong according to Kurt Lewin (940) model and analyze their current performance. The hain borrowed from the financial integration of these financial market leads to a bipolar or multipolar specialization of this privileged development actor that is the financial market.

TiCTak: Target-Specific Centrality Manipulation on Large Networks

January 2016 (has links)
abstract: Measuring node centrality is a critical common denominator behind many important graph mining tasks. While the existing literature offers a wealth of different node centrality measures, it remains a daunting task on how to intervene the node centrality in a desired way. In this thesis, we study the problem of minimizing the centrality of one or more target nodes by edge operation. The heart of the proposed method is an accurate and efficient algorithm to estimate the impact of edge deletion on the spectrum of the underlying network, based on the observation that the edge deletion is essentially a local, sparse perturbation to the original network. Extensive experiments are conducted on a diverse set of real networks to demonstrate the effectiveness, efficiency and scalability of our approach. In particular, it is average of 260.95%, in terms of minimizing eigen-centrality, better than the standard matrix-perturbation based algorithm, with lower time complexity. / Dissertation/Thesis / Masters Thesis Computer Science 2016

The changes in rural areas, are a reflex from transformations of productions relations occurred since 70þs 20th century, that make some changes in the socioeconomics structure in regional scale, such as acceleration of spatial changes, over all in what refers to urban agglomeration. In this context, this present search analise demographics relations, socioeconomics and spatials that are processed among the cities from the north of Paraná state: Cambé, Ibiporã, Londrina and Rolândia which make what we call Urban Agglomeration from Londrina. These urban centers show different demographic lentgh, reason for what we should consider distincs grades of complexity from its activities. We can check that in a first moment, the small cities were responsable for providing goods to its rural population, gradually, it was losting this purpose. In this process, the plan of urban net firstly planned for the settlers agents, does not serves to the new demand, crossing a process of reorganization/refunctualization, which also involves new models of spatials interactions, that are possible for the techniques established in the region. In this process the development of transportation systems and the enlargement of the circulation forms, among other reasons, reflected in the flowings. If in an other moment the hierarchichy organization produced ways from the small cities to gradually the bigger ones and vice versa, reinforcing the concentric model from economic and populational concentration, actually there are lots of possibilities from cities with different models have some kind of relation.

No. of bitstreams: 1 parte1.pdf: 6400029 bytes, checksum: edde12e50971f7d7e84f5343621c6a51 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2011-08-12 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This paper refers to research in the area surrounding the Boulevard Mall in Campina Grande, in order to deal with these changes and restructuring in the urban space of Campina Grande - PB, in the period 1999 to 2011. The research reveals the changes which have occurred in Campina Grande in the last decade, due mainly (but not exclusively), to the installation of the Boulevard Mall. Thus, there is a real process in this period of urban restructuring in the city, represented by the decentralization of some commercial activities and services in the traditional center, driven by the expansion of the city in East direction along with the direction of that mall s place. In order to verify this fact, a survey of urban land use in Otacílio Nepomuceno Street and Severino Cabral Avenue was conducted, in order to count the number of shops and services, land and homes. In addition to analyzing these two access roads to the mall, observations of the streets lying across these pathways were also made. We made the documentary research through analyzing newspapers, in order to gather information for the period prior to the construction of the mall, as well as in classified real estate sales in the years after the inauguration of the project, to see the process of valuation of urban land in this area.In addition, interviews with some former residents of Catolé neighborhood and with employees who work in dealerships around the Boulevard Mall were carried out. The research reveals the formation of a new centrality in Campina Grande, in the area located in the neighborhoods of Mirante, José Pinheiro and especially Catolé neighborhood. This process has triggered several changes in space. The Catolé neighborhood, particularly, used to have exclusively residential profile, but has undergone intense restatements in the last decade and has become a major area provider of services, including becoming the unifying area of flows originated not only from other neighborhoods in the city, as well as from other municipalities in the state, and neighboring states. Tal processo vem desencadeando várias alterações no espaço.
