La Réception de Lautréamont de 1870 à 1917 / The Réception of Lautréamont from 1870 to 1917

Saliou, Kévin 16 March 2018 (has links)
Long before Surrealists seized upon Lautréamont in the name of poetic modernity, Les Chants de Maldoror (1869) and Poésies (1870) had been read by a whole literary generation which broached upon them in discussions about decadence and symbolism. But that reception is not obvious : Isidore Ducasse’s work is not a perfect reflection of the era’s aspirations, and the lack of information about its author generates a void to be filled only by a mythic story. It is necessary to parse this half-century of readings, full of ideological hijacks, fantasies about a supposed poète maudit as well as of literary disputes in which what is at stake is the discovery of a new Rimbaud. With the help of analytic tools borrowed from network sociology, our aim is to declineate the literary landscape in the years 1868 to 1917 in order to show how a literary myth took shape, through small journals and circles, at the turn of a century.

A Historical Survey of Psalm Settings from the Time of the Reformation Through Stravinsky's "Symphonie des Psaumes"

Williamson, Virginia Sue 08 1900 (has links)
Though perhaps we shall never know the music to which these religious lyrics were written, the poems have never ceased to be the source of inspiration for the spirits of men since they were first sung. Each psalm seems to have an underlying purpose with a personal message for each reader. In the Book one can find a reply to every sort of question, for the Psalms are filled with expressions of emotion brought about by all human experience. The collection of these 150 songs or psalms makes up what is known as the Hebrew hymn-book or the Book of Psalms.

Gualtieri, Jean-Sébastien 19 December 2013 (has links)
This report presents the different steps to develop a software method for learning polyphonic songs based on the use of wireless sensors. This study within the UMR SPE University of Corsica, in collaboration with the association E Voce di U Cumune and the IRCAM, is part of a university project development and characterization of Corsican cultural heritage. The objective of this thesis is to provide a tool for learning polyphony. To do this we used sign language describing the Corsican musical scale. The aim of our work was to capture these gestures in order to associate each of them with a singing voice. This process which established the link between gestural language and singing involves several concepts which are:- Hand controller, which includes a set of sensors in a single unit to be the first building block of virtual instrument model.- The gestural capturing which allows acquisition, i.e. which translates into electrical signals and digital, the gestures performed.- Recognition that identifies the captured gestures and can differentiate hand posture.- Sound production is the final stage of the system and associated with each of the gestures made a singing voice to match desired note. This concatenation led us to propose a new tool for learning polyphonic songs which offers the possibility to manipulate voice, chant and polyphony without having no musical knowledge. Förskollärares val av sånger och ramsor ur ett genusperspektiv / Preschool teacher’s choices of songs and chants from a gender perspective

Hegerius, Lina January 2015 (has links)
By applying a gender perspective in the preschool environment, the preschool teachers can obtain knowledge about the values and traditional gender patterns that unconsciously can occur in the preschool environment. The content of the songs and chants are representing, the past and present values. It is now up to the preschool teachers to determine the values which the future selection of songs and chants represent. The purpose of the study was to explore preschool teacher’s selections of songs and chants that occur in preschool circle-time situations, from a gender perspective. The purpose aroused questions about the motives that the preschool teachers express in their selections of songs and chants in preschool circle-time situations and how preschool teachers reason about the selection of songs and chants from a gender perspective. In order to answer the questions, qualitative semi-structured interviews, with operative preschool teachers, was performed. The answers were analyzed by sentence concentrator and the results was interpreted based on the concepts: gender, gender perspectives, gender order, gender contract, apart relation, hierarchy and heteronormativity. All of the preschool teachers in the study show an interest and reflects and reason about the selection of songs and chants from a gender perspective. It is expressed both difficulties and opportunities in how the selection can be made. And it is not possible for one preschool teacher alone to determine the selection of songs and chants, because all preschool teachers, parents and children shall cooperate and have influence on the preschool environment.

The graduale romanum : a comprehensive approach to chant restoration

Frecker, Kevin A. 24 January 2012 (has links)
The restoration of Gregorian chant throughout the nineteenth century culminated in the publication of new official Vatican chant books, particularly the Graduale Romanum of 1908. Major contributions were made by the monks at the abbey of Solesmes, who focused on the oldest available medieval manuscripts, and by scholars in the Cecilian movement, who favored sources compiled after the Middle Ages. These two viewpoints were fused into the Graduale Romanum to create a comprehensive historical perspective. To support this position, this thesis traces historical events and conflicts leading up to the publication of the Graduale Romanum. It also compares the Graduale Romanum with its most immediate source, the 1895 Liber Gradualis by Solesmes, focusing on the Propers of the four Sundays of Advent. Analysis of the differences between the two reveals that the Graduale Romanum closely resembles medieval manuscripts and reflects Renaissance and nineteenth-century sources to a limited degree. / The graduale romanum of 1908 : an exposition -- Toward a new edition of chant -- Graduale romanum and Liber gradualis compared -- Conclusions and proposals for further study. / School of Music
