Análise da dinâmica de formação do caráter e a produção da queixa escolar na educação infantil : contribuições à luz da psicologia histórico-cultural e da pedagogia histórico-crítica /

Silva, Célia Regina da. January 2017 (has links)
(Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: The present study, based on historical-critical pedagogy and historical-cultural psychology, has as its object the analysis of the relationship between the practice of teaching in early childhood education and the dynamics that provoke the genesis of the development of the character of the "difficult child", as proposed by Vigotski (1997). In view of this, we have outlined the general objective of analyzing the interpersonal and interpsychic mechanisms present in the development dynamics of the recurrent characteristics in the student 's conduct, pointed out as inadequate by the perspective of the teacher, and their relations with the organization of teaching in early childhood education. Our initial hypotheses predicted the expression of the philosophical controversy between essence and existence in the way the school staff explains the cause of the children's behavior, since some of the student's actions that the teacher considers inappropriate are characteristic manifestations of the child's developmental period and the organization of the teaching can generate conducts in the teacher that contribute to intensify aspects of the typical crises of the transition periods, influencing the dynamics of constitution of the character of this student. Based on the historical-dialectical materialist method, we adopted the case study as a methodological procedure and obtained the data through the participation in the routine of the school in specific situations during five months, applying a questionnaire to the teachers for the definition of the case and observing directly the classroom, with video recordings for 10 days. For analysis, taking as a minimal unit the intentionality of human acts, we approach the philosophical dimension of the investigated problem, relating the data referring to the conceptions expressed by teachers, managers and relatives in the situations observed with the... Reducing animator keyframes

Holden, Daniel January 2017 (has links)
The aim of this doctoral thesis is to present a body of work aimed at reducing the time spent by animators manually constructing keyframed animation. To this end we present a number of state of the art machine learning techniques applied to the domain of character animation. Data-driven tools for the synthesis and production of character animation have a good track record of success. In particular, they have been adopted thoroughly in the games industry as they allow designers as well as animators to simply specify the high-level descriptions of the animations to be created, and the rest is produced automatically. Even so, these techniques have not been thoroughly adopted in the film industry in the production of keyframe based animation [Planet, 2012]. Due to this, the cost of producing high quality keyframed animation remains very high, and the time of professional animators is increasingly precious. We present our work in four main chapters. We first tackle the key problem in the adoption of data-driven tools for key framed animation - a problem called the inversion of the rig function. Secondly, we show the construction of a new tool for data-driven character animation called the motion manifold - a representation of motion constructed using deep learning that has a number of properties useful for animation research. Thirdly, we show how the motion manifold can be extended as a general tool for performing data-driven animation synthesis and editing. Finally, we show how these techniques developed for keyframed animation can also be adapted to advance the state of the art in the games industry.

Tourism and Change in Costa Rica: Pura Vida, Power and Place in a Small Beach Community

Dominguez, David 11 January 2019 (has links)
A vast majority of tourism development in Guanacaste has occurred in the northern coastal region along the Pacific coast (Honey, Vargas and Durham 2010). However, recent development is beginning to move south as developers visualize big returns on early investments. As new tourism development continues to expand in the southern region of the Nicoya Peninsula, small communities are being transformed from small fishing and farming communities to communities heavily reliant on tourism. Playa Azul, a small beach town in the southern region of the Nicoya Peninsula, is one such community. This dissertation utilizes ethnographic fieldwork to examine the impacts of tourism on the daily lives of residents of Playa Azul, particularly looking at how local residents cope with perceived changes to the norms and values of the community as tourism development continues to expand in the area. The penetration of foreign capital into the community is having a transformative effect on community relations, particularly challenging community norms and values. It is my contention that as Playa Azul continues to develop as a primary tourist destination and development continues to expand, the rifts within the community between existing community members (Azuleños, foreign Ticos and lifestyle migrants) and newly arriving “business-oriented” members will continue to grow with it. I argue this has led to subtle forms of resistance among community members as they work to maintain the pura vida “vibe” of the town and the values that support a multicultural community based on humility, acceptance and mutual respect. / 2021-01-11

Finding Character: Character and the Challenge from Situationism

January 2012 (has links)
abstract: Recently, philosophers have charged that Aristotelian-based virtue theories are empirically inadequate because the conception of character in which they are grounded is largely unfounded by findings in psychology. These philosophers argue in favor of situationism, the theory from social psychology that situational rather than dispositional differences among individuals are in large part responsible for human behavior. Situationists dispute the existence of traits that remain consistent across time and diverse situations and argue that features of situations can better explain and predict human behavior. After analyzing the psychological literature and historical cases put forth as evidence for situationism as well as the basic premises grounding arguments against situationism, I make some conclusions about the best responses to situationism. I agree with situationists that Aristotelian-based virtue and character are not quite empirically adequate but disagree that human behavior owes more to situational rather than dispositional determinants. Basing my theory on literature from social psychology, I argue instead that a concept of character grounded in social-cognitive theory is more psychologically realistic and can explain and predict human behavior and ground a character-based virtue theory. A social-cognitive conception of character would highlight the dynamic role between situations and individual psychological factors like beliefs, values, desires and the way that an individual perceives a situation. I sketch out a non-ideal theory of virtue based in a social-cognitive conception of character that is partially dependent on social networks for its maintenance and is fragmented, or contextualized to particular types of psychological situations. However, fragmented and socially dependent virtue is not an optimal type of virtue because it is vulnerable to situational features that place strong psychological pressures on agents to behave in various ways, including ways they would not have normally endorsed. I agree with Aristotelian virtue ethicists that argue that a type of practical wisdom can help to counter the often unwanted and dangerous influence of these strong situations but also maintain that some measure of moral luck is inevitably involved, even in the development of practical wisdom. / Dissertation/Thesis / Ph.D. Philosophy 2012
