Využití metody CLIL ve výuce biologie na čtyřletém gymnáziu / Teaching Biology at Grammar School using CLIL Method

Junášek, Milan January 2021 (has links)
The subject of this thesis is using CLIL in practice at upper secondary school. The introductory part introduces CLIL generally, it speculates over the meaning, opportunities and difficulties of using it at Czech schools. The practical part contains four units: Taxonomy, Geology, Animals and Genetics, which help teachers link biology with English language using CLIL. The materials benefit from the author's experience with teaching both English language and biology at upper secondary school as well as previous experience with creating teaching materials. The main aim of this thesis is to verify these materials are usable in real educational process and to let students evaluate how well the lessons went through a questionnaire. The verification has proven the materials are usable and students find them beneficial.

Techniky dramatické výchovy v soft CLIL vyučování na 2. stupni základní školy / Drama techniques in soft CLIL lessons in a lower-secondary class

Wirnitzerová, Jitka January 2015 (has links)
This diploma thesis is focused on acquiring communicative competence in teaching the English language as a foreign language. It is based on the presumption that students are not aware of some components of communication which partake in understanding when communicating in a foreign language (context of situation, nonverbal communication, paralinguistic features). This assumption is being verified via questionnaires. The theoretical basis describes the grounding and benefits of drama techniques used in teaching a foreign language and The Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) method. Both these approaches are used for preparation of three experimental lesson plans which are put into practice. Video recordings are made which, along with information from students and their teacher, serve as a detailed analysis of the whole experiment.

Vytváření materiálů pro jazykovou výuku metodou CLIL / Materials Development for Language Teaching using CLIL

Vozabulová, Diana January 2019 (has links)
Although the term CLIL standing for Content and Language Integrated Learning appeared as early as in 1994, and the European Union recognized it very quickly as a prospective and effective way of learning and teaching languages, it seems neither to have been used extensively within the Czech education system, nor there appears to be a general awareness of the method. However, this approach represents a great opportunity for creating more authentic atmosphere within language classrooms and simultaneously teaching and learning a content subject. When speaking of CLIL, several factors must be considered, such as its objectives, principles, methodology, discourse and materials, furthermore we have to take into account the criteria for designing and analysing material for language teaching (of course also in the view of the chosen content subject principles and objectives). In order to raise the awareness of CLIL as an effective approach to language and subject content teaching and to partly supply the lack of CLIL-focused materials, this thesis aims to take into account all the factors and present and analyse them in logical sequences, so finally an effective piece of material usable in CLIL classes could be created and subsequently analysed and evaluated. The present thesis is divided into three parts...

A qualitative study of mathematics and language teachers' perceptions of mathematics teaching in a foreign language

Dhia Peter, Heba January 2020 (has links)
This study aims at describing the views of mathematics and language teachers regarding teaching mathematics in a language that is not students’ native language. The data were collected through four semi-structured interviews, with two mathematics teachers, one language teacher and one language and mathematics teacher. The interviews took 30 minutes to complete. The interviews were focused on the opportunities and challenges, as well as teaching strategies that teachers encounter in multilingual mathematics education. The results of this study showed that teachers are linguistically aware, that they understand what in the language can be considered difficult. The results also showed that teachers often encounter different linguist challenges in teaching, such as student’s reading and writing difficulties and conceptual understanding. They, however, had difficulties knowing what strategies and methods were most useful to use to facilitate the use of language in mathematics. Nevertheless, through continuing education and collaboration with the language teachers, they can work out the challenges that occurred, and learn about which linguistic strategies are most beneficial to use and why.

Výuka geometrické řady metodou CLIL s využitím německého jazyka / Teaching geometric series through CLIL method with using of German language

Korcová, Aneta January 2020 (has links)
The core of the thesis is the realization of three lessons of mathematics conducted in accordance with the CLIL method, which integrates the teaching a non-linguistic subject with foreign language teaching. The topic of the lessons was non-finite geometric series and the chosen foreign language was German. The first part of the thesis introduces key definitions and theorems concerning sequences and geometric series. Comparisons are drawn between approaches of the Czech Republic and two German-speaking countries, Austria and Germany, in relationship to the teaching non-finite geometric series. Furthermore, available teaching materials of the selected countries are compared and applied visualized problems which appear in them are analysed. In the second part, the CLIL teaching method is presented together with the methodology according to which the lessons were prepared, realized and subsequently assessed. To conclude, the thesis presents a detailed analysis of the preparation and progress of the lessons, including the reflection. The appendix comprises of the utilized teaching materials as well as a range of the solved problems.

Výuka všeobecně vzdělávacích předmětů prostřednictvím cizího jazyka jako komunikačního prostředku / Teaching General Subjects through a Foreign Language as a Communication Tool

Adamus, Richard January 2016 (has links)
The aim of this dissertation is to investigate and characterize the innovative approach CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning), define the scope of the concept, establish CLIL teacher profile based on skill dimensions. The role of the teacher whether we introduce any innovative approach is crucial thus we need to define the CLIL teacher profile. To stipulate the CLIL teacher profile means to establish comprehensive implementation criteria for successful implementation of CLIL at school. The dissertation title - Teaching General Subjects through a Foreign Language as a Communication Tool - fully corresponds with the content of acronym CLIL. The theoretical part is divided into four sections. The first section discusses the assumptions and objectives of the work through the prism of three basic paradigms - philosophical, pedagogical and language. In the second section we define terms, we classify and describe the processes of pedagogical interaction and communication at school with an emphasis on CLIL. Attention is paid to the main stakeholders of these processes - teachers and pupils. In the third section we focus on the relationship between CLIL to bilingualism, to selected theories of language acquisition, curricular reforms and other selected aspects. In the fourth section, we present...
