Analyzing the strong presence of themes related to sexuality in the current media production, a scenario, here named the mercantilization of the sexual sphere, is unveiled. This scenario has post-modernity and the society of the spectacle as its background. This is the social environment where autonomous individuals, in search of the so-called security, are eagerly looking not only for rules and behavior models, but also for the ongoing improvement of their subjectivities. This is necessary in order to reach a stand out position in relation to their peer groups. It is visible, today, the proliferation of a large collection of products, services and abilities related to what we are here defining as consumption practices in the arena of sexual relations. Many are the media speeches which have been supporting this type of mercantilization, rendering practices and object s into products and services available in the retail market. In this present study, we have examined advertising campaigns and TV programs which deal with contemporary sexuality. More specifically, this work aims to examine the speech provided through the cartoons of Adão Iturrusgarai, published in the largest Brazilian daily newspaper. From the large and varied production of this author, we have selected a series of comic strips, which, we believe, function as an acid social criticism of the contemporary sexuality in the language of the cartoons.

The research developed was based on the reception analysis of a communication project created by the flower producers of Pará state, and it was materialized in the substitution of traditional yellow and white flowers, imported annually from Brazil’s southeast region, by local tropical products, aiming to give a new signification and valorization to their goods. The field research was carried through October 2008 during the religious and profane events course that constitutes the Círio de Nazaré, and was made feasible by an ensemble of qualitative research practices and instruments that aligned methodological perspectives inspired in ethnographical techniques applied to research in Communication and principles and procedures of the Discourse Analysis. In the Círio de Nazaré social-cultural context and adopting the mediation analysis perspective, especially of the popular in a culture, of the religiousness, and of the different individual social status, it was possible to indicate and discuss the social dynamics of construction of meaning and the its hegemonic legitimization, emphasizing the connections between consumption and the production of identities. And, this way, search success guaranty for the producer’s objectives: the tropical flowers insertion in the daily life of the consumers.

The search is based on the articulation of three thematic axes: communication through analysis of flows digital images that bring emitter and receiver into story building; consumer practices with the reflection on the cultural and social relations of goods, their representations as they delimit a path through which individuals project and see themselves, and as the current communicational model between product and producer in the emission of messages and in the interpretation of the senses, creating a symbolic network that composes the construction of the self and subjectivity through appropriations; and the cyberculture that will serve as a map to navigate among the resonant cultural mutations of devices information and communication. No. of bitstreams: 1 ppgcom - fernando matijewitsch.pdf: 7566808 bytes, checksum: 5371caf50dcd86039dfee4cff2c4761a (MD5) Previous issue date: 2018-03-19 / Faced with the entrepreneurship’s emergence as a moral paradigm applicable to both our professional and private lives (CASAQUI, 2016a), this study has the entrepreneurial culture as its theme, understood from its communication processes and its entanglements with the notion of childhood. At the present time, we can observe a growing dissemination of instructions for the practice of entrepreneurship by children: school, courses, toys, entertainment and media experiences, which share the objective of transmitting the spirit of leadership, the innovative creativity and the methods for opening new business. Therefore, for this research, we take the social discourse (ANGENOT, 2010) on entrepreneurship for children as an object, since it is identified, apart from the peculiarities of each specific language, as a great expression of the spirit of our time. Starting from the premise that childhood is a social artifact, not a biological category (POSTMAN, 2012), we are dealing with a context in which a series of discourses aim to sustain the justification logics of the new spirit of capitalism (BOLTANSKI and CHIAPELLO, 2009) for a new generation. Thus, our goal is to understand how childhood is produced by the discourses articulated to the entrepreneurial culture. In addition, we also seek to recognize the standards of conduct identified with children in this setting. Based on an extensive documentary research and a methodological proposal formed by the Grounded Theory (TAROZZI, 2011) and the French Discourse Analysis (ORLANDI, 2010) procedures, we will critically analyze the set of discourses that are willing to propagate the entrepreneurial society’s model conducts for kids.

Consumo da telefonia móvel por jovens universitários: o papel da comunicação na construção da identidade do jovem / Consumption of mobile telephony by university students: the role of communication in building the identity of the young

These relations influence people in their way of communicating and consuming. Through this paper we seek to understand the processes of communication and the building of the identity of the young university student, being understood here as an actor for modern consumption. The theoretical basis for this research lies in working out the concepts of communication and consumption, culture and identity. We analyzed the movements of communication and consumption from the use by the young university student of mobile telephony and cell phones. Consumption and citizenship are dealt with using the concepts of Garcia Canclini, who sees consumption as one of the dimensions of the communication process and social belonging. In Featherstone we notice reflections over the culture and consumption in the late modern times, context in which the young people make their presence. In order to write about technology and convergence culture present in practices and ways of communication of the young people, we used the ideas of Jenkins. Hall provides understanding of the building of the identity of the young university student as a complex and cultural process characterized by the ways of using, consuming and communicating, typical of mobile telephony. The adopted methodology for this paper uses, besides the bibliographic research, a quantitative mapping with the goal of obtaining data on the cultural consumption of the young university student. The tools used for this mapping were structured questionnaires, which were run in colleges of the capital and countryside areas of the state of São Paulo. The mapping was useful to obtain elements dealt with in the interviews that were carried out to identify the attribution of meaning given by young people to consumption of cell phones, taking into consideration the theoretical reflections discussed in the bibliographic research. It was possible, then, to identify the presence of cell phones in the common relations of the young people and we have identified the processes of the building of identity. In the general aspect of this paper, we had as a result the fact that the young people have in their cell phones a tool that goes beyond the material and functional usage. The cell phone is a person s telephone. In it we can find parts of the identity of its users in the personalization of content.
