Interhouse: A Place for Growing up and Growing Adults

Makhamatova, Nilufar 01 January 2016 (has links)
Society has become increasingly segregated by age which lessens the opportunities for communication between generations. Before the Internet, children and adolescents typically learned through traditional means - their parents, school teachers, and life experiences. Adults believed they were capable of recognizing and addressing the needs of children and adolescents. (Strom & Strom, 2012) Now, the global media is widely accessed by people of all ages which gives it the ability to influence a large population in different ways. This has led to children and adolescents being more heavily influenced and educated by the media than other traditional sources. Adolescents, in particular, are more reliant on each other for conversation, feedback, and advice. (Kovarik, 2011) Retirees, on average, are more active now than they were 20 years ago and 54% of seniors (age 60+) are considering working after retirement age (typically 65) which is up from 45% in a 2014 poll. Of the seniors polled, 81% say they will work part-time while 19% say they will work full-time.

Folkets Hus on Krusgårdsberget

Träskbacka, Camilla Teresa Victoria January 2022 (has links)
Folkets Hus on Krusgårdsberget is located in northwest Eskilstuna in Torshälla on Skeppargatan with a driveway entrance from Snäckbergsstigen. From Krusgårdsberget you can see i.a. the church tower and from there it is easy to get over Julinbron, the pedestrian and bicycle bridge, to the other side of Torshällaån, Rådhustorget, Bergströmska gården with the local history museum, the church and the harbor at Storgatan. The land area is limited by the Eskilstuna canal towards Lake Mälaren in the north. Holmenleden, Eskilstunavägen and Hammarbyvägen, which changes its name to Brogatan, connect the eastern part of Torshälla with the surrounding landscape. Previously, there was a community house at Rådhustorget with an assembly hall facing the square and a café and residential area facing Lilla gatan. The assembly hall was used for theater and cinema performances as well as lectures by research travelers. The house also housed the city's library and the café was a gathering place for vacant Torshälla residents. The house was built by Torshälla Allmänna Byggnads AB in 1900 and demolished in 1962. The community house I designed is a slope house with a brick facade and a flat roof on three levels. It houses a theater with 403 seats. Around the light courtyard with the large stairs there is a separate assembly hall. In addition, there are smaller office and meeting rooms, a restaurant and a hotel in the building. North of the parking lot at the main entrance, I have designed a garden that adjoins the wooded hill behind the house.

Huset på dockan / House above the dock

Lagerstedt, Jonatan January 2022 (has links)
The house above the dock is located by Hjälmare Docka in Arboga municipality and right next to Hjälmare canal. The assignment was to design a community hall and add an additional program based on location and analysis. The beautiful surroundings around the canal and the many well-preserved historical elements made me add a hotel and museum as I wanted more people to discover the place and its history. I chose to place the building above a dock where boats are stored during winter to be able to include the boats as part of the museum's exhibition but also so hotel guests can park their boat under the building and get directly to the hotel. Due to the location, the lower construction of the house is dimensioned to be able to accommodate all types of boats that can pass through the canal. The arch construction is made of steel and inspired by traditional tram halls while the upper house is made entirely of locally produced wood.

Residência terapêutica: uma casa na cidade e os sonhos de cidadania / Therapeutic Community House: A house in the city and the dreams of citizenship.

Roza Júnior, José Alberto 24 June 2016 (has links)
The research considers the reinsertion of people with mental disorders in society and specifically their challenges adapting to urban life. It begins looking at the long hospitalizations and institutions designed to contain these people physically or through medication up to the development of the psychiatric reforms. In Brazil, law n 10216/01 triggered the discussion about the place and space needed to open up cities again to these people. Given the advances brought by the new model, the therapeutic community houses represent a relevant strategy in the deinstitutionalization process of people with mental disorders who lived long hospitalization periods and lost their family linkages. These people may now return to a house in the city, the main object of this research. Unwelcoming neighbors in a middle class area in Sao Paulo resisted resulting in a judicial process that this residence could not withstand, having to move elsewhere. As a result one might question the advances in mental health treatment given simple neighborhood problems strip people with mental health disorders from their citizenship. There is still a need to consider reparations for these people. After so much violence committed by the state in institutions and hospitals this analysis shows that the therapeutic community houses are just the beginning of a complex reinsertion process of these socially excluded people into the urban landscape and society

ResPublica/Civitas Socialis – Strachotín, l. p. 2017 / ResPublica/Civitas Socialis - Strachotín

Kisová, Barbora January 2017 (has links)
The diploma thesis follows the project of the pre-diploma, in which detailed analyzes of the potential of the village were made, from which it follows that the most important place that the village needs to revive for further development is the village square itself. In the current state, a cluster of buildings is built on a clearly defined area of the village, which brings chaos and confusion to the urban structure. The building of the municipal office stopped communicating through the building of the former elementary school. The area between buildings, formerly designed for local residents to hold festivals, now serves as a handling yard. The aim of the work is to clean the area of the village, to restore its original lost character and to add the urban structure to a building that will serve both local inhabitants and tourist visitors.

ResPublica/Civitas Socialis – Strachotín, l. p. 2017 / ResPublica/Civitas Socialis - Strachotín

Horňasová, Tereza January 2017 (has links)
The theme of the diploma thesis is based on conclusions of the pre-diploma thesis which tried to find lost potential of the village Strachotín and outline its possible development. Strachotín is located in a major wine region. Therefore, the potential of the municipality is mainly in wine, tradition and tourism. The stragedy builds on these potentials and creates two main themes. I live, I discover. The living factor represents inhabitants of Strachotín and the possibility of housing, work and recreation. The discovering factor represents traditions and tourism. The key theme becomes a village square. This is primarily a place for local residents, but also a place for the municipality to represent and support tourism. The village square is the most important part of the village, but the current state of affairs is not the case. Village square lost its identity thanks to inappropriate placement of objects and their functional use. The design tries to clean the village square from objects that are not functionally and aesthetically suitable. Objects that remain in the proposal are a municipal house and former school. They have a historical position here. The proposal adds a new object that combines and complements functions that have been missing or lost in the village in the original solution. The newly created public space creates not only a place for the inhabitants of Strachotín, but also a new tourist destination.
