Kartläggning av kontinuiteten av vårdpersonal vid omläggning av patienter med bensår / A survey of staff continuity whenchanging the bandage onpatients with a leg ulcer

Ringqvist, Birgitta January 2009 (has links)

/
A quantitative study has been done, carrying out through a small survey in some places in thecounty of Skaraborg. During a month the survey was done in both the primary care and also inthe community care. It was found that the continuity of staff was varying. One sample ofpatients had few nursing staff taking care of the patient’s leg ulcer while another sample ofpatients had many care givers. Almost all patients in the community care had a nurse who wasresponsible for the patient’s leg ulcer. A third of the patients in the community had met theresponsible nurse during the month. At the primary care more than a half of the patients had anurse who was responsible for the patient’s leg ulcer and a majority of them had seen the nurseduring the month. The patients in the community for the most had been taken care of by theassistant nurse who had changed the bandage of the leg ulcer while in primary care, the patientshad been taken care of by a nurse or a district nurse.

THE INTERGENERATIONAL CONTINUITY OF CHILD MALTREATMENT: AN EXAMINATION OF ADOLESCENT, YOUNG ADULT, AND REPRODUCTIVE RISK FACTORS AMONG HIGH-RISK WOMEN

Linscott, Jessica 10 April 2018 (has links)
Although a history of childhood maltreatment is widely considered to be a risk factor for the perpetration of abuse or neglect in successive generations, the intergenerational transmission theory of child maltreatment has demonstrated mixed support over more than three decades of research. Using a prospective, longitudinal design, this study sought to investigate adolescent, young adult, and reproductive risk factors for the intergenerational continuity of child maltreatment, analyzing data from a sample of 147 women with a history of childhood maltreatment and child welfare services involvement (CWS), juvenile justice system (JJS) involvement, and out-of-home placements. The participants were originally recruited in adolescence for a randomized control trial (RCT) assessing the impact of the Treatment Foster Care Oregon (TFCO) intervention. Maltreatment continuity was measured using both official CWS records and participant self-report of contact with CWS. More than half the sample (n = 79, 53.7%) demonstrated maltreatment discontinuity (MD), indicating no evidence of maltreatment of offspring, and under half demonstrated maltreatment continuity (MC; n = 68, 46.3%). Using separate logistic regression analyses to test three models, results indicated that higher levels of hard drug use in adolescence increased the likelihood of maltreatment continuity at young adult follow-up by 47%. Partner risk in young adulthood was a strong predictor of maltreatment continuity, increasing the likelihood of maltreatment of offspring by over 2 times, or 103%. Marijuana use in young adulthood also emerged as strong predictor of MC, but not in the expected direction: higher levels of marijuana use were associated with a 56% decreased likelihood of MC. An older age at first birth significantly predicted a 52% decreased likelihood of maltreating offspring. Study limitations, future directions, and implications for interventions are discussed.

Dalpissol, Evandro January 2016 (has links)
neglected in Brazilian and international literature. In Serra Gaúcha, the small and medium companies account for 96.6 % of the total of 3088 companies in the field; it is characterized also by providing their services to large local companies, which account for 3.4 % of all companies in the sector Due to this, it is necessary to understand the way that entrepreneurs on these organizations think and act in relation to the identification and management of business risks, as a mechanism to protect their assets. It has been chosen to describe, as a main purpose of this research, how these companies perform the process of identifying and managing their risks in order to ensure business continuity. Specific objectives have been selected as follow: a) characterize the sector and the companies in the study; b) identify and analyze the concept of company risk from the perspective of business leaders in the study; c) analyze how these companies identify their business risks; d) identify risks that companies, in the study, have been exposed and classify them, according to literature; e) analyze how, the studied companies, have been managing their different types of risks; f) identify crises or business interruptions that these companies have suffered in recent years. As a methodological procedure, it has been selected a case study, as main methodology strategy, it has been chosen two small and a midsize companies, operating in the metalmechanic sector of Serra Gaúcha. These companies are characterized by manufacturing products with steel and plastic, as their raw material. In addition, these companies provide these items to supply large companies in the region. Regarding literature review, this research addresses the origin and evolution of main concepts related to risk management and business continuity, different types of risk management and main standards, and risk management models. To that end, it has been taken as reference the theoretical frameworks developed by ABNT (2009, 2013), BCI (2011), COSO (2007), FERMA (2014), FNQ (2009), Frigo and Anderson (2011, 2014), Herbane (2013), Herbane, Elliott and Johnson (2010), Hiles (2012), IBGC (2007), Kaplan and Mikes (2012), Orange Book (2004). Among the results of the study, it has been found that the entrepreneurs’ concern, in terms of planning and preparation to deal with situations of risk, is restricted mainly to the risk of operational and strategic nature. However, there is no systematic management tools based on practical, to respond to crises caused by risks that were likely to be managed with risk management tools, so as not to jeopardize business continuity.

Ontogenetic and Gender Dimensions in a Normative Study of the Dreams of Canadians

Dale, Allyson January 2017 (has links)
The current dissertation examined gender, cultural, and ontogenetic dimensions in the dreams of Canadians. Normative studies in the United States, Europe, and other countries have documented normative data including gender differences and compared their findings to American data to investigate cultural differences. The purpose of the present study was to extend research of this nature by establishing normative data for Canadians. Furthermore, age differences in dreams have been mostly investigated for females, with only a few studies with males, and have used a variety of methodologies and age ranges. Another objective of this study was to document, for the first time, the ontogenetic pattern of the main dream content categories from adolescence to old age for males and females. The rigorous and detailed dream diary method was used to collect dreams which were analyzed using the Hall and Van de Castle method of content analysis. The first paper consisted of two dreams each from 150 male and female young adult Canadians, ages 18-24, totaling 600 dream reports. Findings provided support for the threat simulation theory as there were more negative than positive themes overall. Furthermore, dream gender differences were consistent with those in waking and the similarity of Canadian and American culture was reflected in dream imagery, supporting the continuity hypothesis of dream formation. The final two papers examined the ontogenetic patterns of dream content for females and males respectively. The second paper consisted of 75 females across 5 age groups from adolescence to old age (12-17, 18-24, 25-39, 40-64, and 65-85) and the third paper consisted of 50 males across the same age groups with the exception of 31 males in the oldest group (65-85). The ontogenetic patterns of dream content from adolescence to old age reflected waking developmental patterns as proposed by social theories, neurobiological research, and recognized features of aging, supporting the continuity hypothesis. In terms of the theoretical implications, this work provides support for the hypothesis of the threat simulation theory pertaining to the prevalence of negative content in dreams. It also provides support for the continuity between waking and dreaming hypothesis of dream formation. Implications of these findings regarding our understanding of the sources of dream formation are described. Finally, limitations and future directions, for research examining the evolution of gender differences across the lifespan, are discussed.

Ethnographic Explorations of the Foodways of Three Generations of Women in Kasabonika Lake First Nation

Kehoe, Michelle January 2014 (has links)
First Nations foodways have been altered through systemized efforts of colonization and were effectively reduced in part from the creation of stores and through limiting reserve systems. The current research seeks to understand the dietary choices and changes among three generations of Fist Nations women. Research takes place in a remote First Nation community in Northern Ontario. The differing food practices among the three generations of women highlight transformations resulting from a traumatic history. Decreases in the consumption of traditional, land based foods, as well as the practices around these foods (procurement, preparation, knowledge exchange and social engagement) alter the experiences of the younger generations. The conversations/exchanges around food take place within the culturally significant space of the teepee. The teepee is a core element. These exchanges have a tremendous bearing on the overall wellness of these women and their efforts to reclaim and remain culturally resilient.
