Zudem stellt die Vielfalt der verschiedenen Studienangebote Hochschultypen, Bewerbungsverfahren und Zulassungsbedingungen Personen mit Fluchthintergrund, die Interesse an der Aufnahme oder Fortsetzung eines Studiums in Deutschland, vor massive Herausforderungen. Auch können bei Aufnahme oder Fortsetzung eines Studiums die stark heterogenen Vorkenntnisse, Lernvoraussetzungen und lernkulturellen Vorerfahrungen dieser Zielgruppe mit den vorhandenen Angeboten oft nicht ausreichend aufgefangen werden. The objective of this study was to examine the use of frequent, anonymous student course surveys as a tool in supporting continuous quality improvement (CQI) principles in online instruction. The study used a qualitative, multiple-case design involving four separate online courses. Analysis methods included pattern matching/explanation building, time series analysis, and thematic analysis. Findings suggested that instructors used student feedback to make course changes that alleviated technical difficulties, added and clarified content, and contributed to future course changes. Students and instructors responded positively to the opportunity to give and receive anonymous feedback and felt that it helped improve the course. It is uncertain, however, whether using CQI principles had an impact on end-of-semester teacher course quality ratings. An important finding from the research is that students like to be asked to help improve their learning experience, as long as the instructor listens and responds to their feedback. Evaluation is a valuable component of instructional design theories, which are based on the philosophy that the best designs result from an iterative process. Using a synergistic CQI approach, this study indicates that it is possible for changes to be made more quickly to a course when students are involved in the process. The combination of frequent student feedback with a willing and experienced instructor who can make expert course revision decisions allows the process of course improvement to be enhanced.

Shoemaker / Educational opportunities in horticultural therapy at colleges and universities are currently experiencing a minimal level as compared to the time of their development in the early 1970’s. While there is an education decline in horticultural therapy, there is a rebirth of interest in this therapeutic modality taking place within the medical profession. Due to the lack of availability of university introductory-level horticultural therapy courses throughout the United States, it is important to ascertain what topics are needed for inclusion in an introductory course. A survey was sent to 13 horticultural therapy practitioners, 11 university instructors, and 8 students. Overall, responses of practitioners and professors were varied in their opinions. The one topic of importance in which they agreed was horticultural therapy definitions, as definitions for horticultural therapy, horticultural therapist, and horticultural therapy programs. A majority of horticultural therapy practitioners indicated that horticultural therapy history and theories are important topics for an introductory horticultural therapy course. A majority of the professors reported that horticultural therapy settings are a somewhat important topic. Topics of interest to students who had taken an introduction to horticultural therapy course included interaction with special populations (for example, elders, children, patients in physical rehabilitation), the use of adaptive gardening techniques and tools, and measuring the benefits of horticultural therapy. Topics of interest about which students wanted to learn more were ways in which to help each population through planned activities and how to reach horticultural therapy goals planned for patients and clients. Results of a literature search was conducted in which sources of information indicated that there have been declines in educational opportunities over time and a lack of growth in these opportunities. Based on the survey results and literature review, an introductory horticultural therapy course was developed. An introduction-type course is one that briefly introduces most, if not all, topics that will be studied in depth in more advanced courses. It should be designed in such a way that interests students and encourages them to continue their studies in the program. At the same time, the concerns and interests of the practitioners and professors need to be considered in the design of the course. As a result, the course was planned and includes the topics that are of interest to the participants in the surveys. The topics include horticultural therapy history, theories, definitions, program types, client/patient groups, settings, and the people-plant relationship.

Tutors are key supporters within semi-distance education and as such comprehensive support of tutoring is necessary to provide the best possible support to learners. This case study investigates how tutoring can be better supported within a semi-distance part-time professional development course in environmental education. The course, aimed at adults working in environmental education fields, is seen as an important strategy for helping participants become critical, reflexive and active environmental education practitioners who can start working on solutions to environmental issues. This study found that most challenges to successful tutoring lay in the availability and competence of human resources within Namibia. Additionally improvement in the management of tutor and learner support systems, information, guidance and enrolment and finally of learning resources is seen as essential to better support a successful tutoring process. An alternative model of tutoring is offered as a way of overcoming the major tutoring challenges outlined in this study. / Educational Studies / M.Ed.

Актуальность исследования. Роль интернета серьезно повлияла на развитие образования в России и мировом масштабе. Используя опыт лидеров рынка в сфере электронного образования, можно заключить, что подбор эффективного канала и автоматизация предоставления образовательной информации помимо геймификации способна снизить и стоимость услуг, повысить наценку и снизить затраты на производство курсов. Именно вопросу создания и автоматизации онлайн-курса будет посвящено решение данной работы. / The role of the Internet has seriously influenced the development of education in Russia and on a global scale. Using the experience of market leaders in the field of e-education, we can conclude that the selection of an effective channel and automation of the provision of educational information, in addition to gamification, can also reduce the cost of services, increase the margin and reduce the cost of producing courses. It is the question of creating and automating an online course that the solution of this work will be devoted to.
