Estudo do comportamento mecânico do concreto com agregado reciclado mediante modelagem multiescala pelo MEF Bauru /

Gimenes, Marcela January 2020 (has links)
The developed tool facilitates the mechanical behavior evaluation of the RAC, verifying the feasibility of its use for structural purposes. Considering that in Brazil the current use of the material is still quite limited in comparison with other countries, the RAC could be used more widely and properly, bringing structural, economic and mainly environmental advantages. Due to the occurrence of mesoscopic specificities, the RAC modeling requires a more refined scale model to represent the altered properties of recycled aggregate, so that a recycled aggregate generator was developed to represent its variable composition. The failure mechanisms that occur at the several interfaces of the recycled aggregate (RA) and concrete matrix introduce nonlinearity to the mechanical problem. In order to represent this nonlinearity, the proposed modeling strategy uses the finite element mesh fragmentation technique together with robust and stable damage constitutive model. This fragmentation technique is based on the use of finite elements with high aspect ratio, which can be used to represent the additional phases of this composite material, corresponding to the different mesoscale RAC intrinsic interfacial transition zones (ITZs), as well as potential pathways for the propagation of fractures. Rupture des composites tissés 3D : de la caractérisation expérimentale à la simulation robuste des effets d’échelle / Failure of 3D woven composites : from experimental characterization to robust simulation of scale effects

Médeau, Victor 23 September 2019 (has links)
This work aims to describe and quantify the failure mechanisms of 3D woven composites underquasi-static tensile loading and to implement an adapted and robust numerical simulationmethod, that can be applied in industry. To this end, an experimental study was carried out toquantify the propagation of cracks in these materials. Thus, a crack propagation scenario wasestablished, thanks to the multi-instrumentation used during the tests. The experimental campaignwas carried out on specimens of various geometries and sizes and highlighted significantvariations in the fracture toughness with the test conditions. A modelisation framework introducinginternal lengths was then presented and adapted to 3D woven composites. This frameworkis supported by the identification of the failure mechanisms subsequent to the analysis of thecrack profile. The introduced lengths were thus related to the weaving parameters. A method foridentifying the parameters was proposed and the consequences of this behaviour on the designof the composite parts discussed. Finally, these results were transferred to robust numerical simulations.Regularisation methods of continuous damage models were presented and evaluatedin terms of their ability to ensure, on the one hand, the robustness of the results and, on theother hand, the correct transcription of experimental size effects. Taking into account these numericaland physical considerations led us to propose a Non-Local damage model. A method foridentifying the parameters and the internal length on experimental data was proposed.

Thermomechanische und schädigungsmechanische Modellierung von hochlegierten TRIP-Stählen

Seupel, Andreas 22 July 2021 (has links)
The present thesis comprises the development and numerical implementation of a non-local damage model in order to describe ductile failure of a cast austenitic TRIP-steel. The TRIP-steel shows a martensitic phase transformation during deformation. The transformation and strain hardening behavior is strongly dependent on temperature and stress state. For this reason, a fully thermomechanically coupled viscoplasticity model is proposed, which exhibits the temperature dependent tension-compression-asymmetry of strain hardening and deformation-induced martensite evolution. Experimentally observed crossing effects of the flow curves can be predicted at increased strain rates. The damage modeling is based on the viscoplastic basic model, whereby the mesh-independent behavior is achieved by a gradient extension within the framework of micromorphic theory. Different approaches for damage initiation and evolution can be combined within the model. The influences of the model parameters on results of crack growth simulations are investigated and evaluated for selected model variants. With the help of developed calibration strategies the qualified variants can be successfully adapted to experimental results of notched tensile tests and compact tension tests.

A concurrent multiscale model to represent the crack process of concrete.

Rodrigues, Eduardo Alexandre 06 November 2015 (has links)
A concurrent multiscale analysis of concrete is presented, in which two distinct scales are considered: the mesoscale, where the concrete is modeled as a heterogeneous material and the macroscale that treats the concrete as a homogeneous material. The mesostructure heterogeneities are idealized as three phase materials composed of the coarse aggregates, mortar matrix and the interfacial transition zone (ITZ). The coarse aggregates are generated from a grading curve and placed into the mortar matrix randomly. Their behavior is described using an elastic-linear constitutive model due to their significant higher strength when compared with the other two phases of the concrete. Special continuum finite elements with a high aspect ratio and a damage constitutive model are used to describe the nonlinear behavior associated to the propagation of cracks, which initiates in the ITZ and then propagates to the mortar matrix given place to a macro-crack formation. These interface elements with a high aspect ratio are inserted in between all regular finite elements of the mortar matrix and in between the mortar matrix and aggregate elements, representing the ITZ. In the limit case, when the thickness of interface elements tends to zero (h ?0) and consequently the aspect ratio tends to infinite, these elements present the same kinematics as the continuous strong discontinuity approach (CSDA), so that they are suitable to represent the formation of discontinuities associated to cracks, similar to cohesive models. A tensile damage model is proposed to model the nonlinear mechanical behavior of the interfaces, associated to the crack formation and also to the possible crack closure. To avoid transition meshes between the macro and the mesoscale meshes, a new technique for coupling non-matching meshes is used. This technique is based on the definition of coupling finite elements (CFEs), which can ensure the continuity of displacement between independent meshes, without increasing the total number of degrees of freedom of the problem. This technique can be used to couple non-overlapping and overlapping meshes. To make possible the concurrent multiscale analysis, where the strain localization region cannot be defined a priori, an adaptive multiscale model is proposed. In this approach the macroscale stress distribution is used as an indicator to properly change from the macroscale to the mesoscale modeling in the critical regions during the analysis. Consequently, the macroscopic mesh is automatically replaced by a mesoscopic mesh where the nonlinear behavior is imminent. A variety of tests are performed to show the ability of the proposed methodology in predicting the behavior of initiation and propagation of cracks in the tensile region of the concrete. The numerical results are compared with the experimental ones or with those obtained by the direct simulation in mesoscale (DSM).

Análise mecânica e probabilística da corrosão de armaduras de estruturas de concreto armado submetidas à penetração de cloretos / Mechanical and probabilistic analysis of reinforcement corrosion of reinforced concrete structures subjected to chlorides penetration

Pellizzer, Giovanni Pais 11 March 2015 (has links)
This work deals with the problem of reinforcement corrosion of concrete structures subjected to chloride penetration. It is widely recognized in the technical and scientific communities that, among the different processes which cause pathologies in reinforced concrete structures, reinforcement corrosion is one of the most relevant. The corrosion process starts when chloride concentration at the reinforcement/concrete interface reaches a threshold value, causing depassivation of the protecting chemical layer surrounding the armor. A probabilistic approach is capable of dealing with the problem in a more consistent manner, since the variables involved in the phenomenon have a high degree of randomness. The formulation used in the mechanical non-linear analysis utilizes the finite element method, employing Mazars\' damage model to describe the concrete behavior and the elastoplastic model to describe the steel behavior. Fick\'s law is used to describe the diffusion mechanism of chloride ions inside the concrete elements and empirical laws are used to represent the steel area reduction as well as the reduction of steel yield stress. The formulation used for the probabilistic analysis employs the FORM (First Order Reliability Method), the response surface method and the Monte Carlo simulation. A contribution of this study concerns the analysis of hyper-static structures, in order to evaluate the failure probability of the system, giving special attention to this type of problem. The obtained results show how the considered corrosive effects influences the structural durability reduction.

Modélisation dynamique avancée des composites à matrice organique (CMO) pour l’étude de la vulnérabilité des structures aéronautiques / Advanced dynamic modelling of Organic Matrix Composites (OMC) to study the vulnerability of aeronautical structures

Castres, Magali 27 September 2018 (has links)
To provide an optimal dimensioning of the structures, it is necessary to study the mechanical behavior of OMC on a large range of strain rates and temperatures. The aim of this PhD thesis is to propose a behavior and a rupture model to predict the mechanical response of OMC for a large range of strain rates and temperatures. The research was initially focused on the characterization of the transition between the linear and nonlinear behavior of the material T700GC/M21, a carbon / epoxy unidirectional laminate as well as the strain rate and temperature dependencies of this transition. The work was then focused on the experimental study of the nonlinear damaged behavior of the T700GC/M21. Finally, completing these first two steps, an updated version of the behavior model available at ONERA (OPFM) was proposed which includes the transition between linear and nonlinear behavior and the influence of strain rate and temperature on the mechanical response of the material.

The proposed model uses the classical lamination theory (CLT) with a damage model (Mazars, 1984) applied to the SFRC. Etude et modélisation du comportement mécanique de CMC oxyde/oxyde / Study and modelling of the mechanical behaviour of oxide/oxide CMCs

Ben Ramdane, Camélia 20 June 2014 (has links)
Oxide/oxide CMCs are good candidates for thermostructural applications. Themechanical behaviour and damage mechanisms of two alumina/alumina composites with two andthree dimensional woven reinforcements were studied and compared. The microstructure of theseweak matrix CMCs was characterized by porosimetry and NDT methods, such as IR thermography, ultrasound scanning and X-ray tomography, which highlighted initial defects. The mechanicalbehaviour was studied through tensile tests, as well as compression tests in the case of the twodimensionalreinforced CMC. These tests were conducted at room temperature, in the fibres directionsand in the ±45° direction. In order to fully exploit these tests, several extensometry and damagemonitoring methods, such as IR thermography and acoustic emission, were used. Young’s moduli andmaximum stresses and strains of the two-dimensional reinforced CMC developed at Onera appearedto be higher than those available in the literature. The damage mechanisms of the materials weredetermined by post mortem SEM observations and in situ testing in a SEM, which made it possible toassess the nocivity of initial defects. Studying the mechanical behaviour of these composites finallyenabled the development of a three-dimensional damage model that will facilitate the furtherdevelopment of such materials, through finite element analysis. Finally, some improvements regardingthe manufacturing processes and the instrumentation for damage monitoring were suggested forfuture studies.

Τσαλούφη, Μαρίνα 28 February 2013 (has links)
This work is based on the development of three-dimensional numerical model based on the finite element method to simulate the mechanical behavior of adhesive bonded joints in composite materials. The model was developed in finite element procedures under the framework of the commercial software ANSYS. To simulate the behavior of the adhesive used two approaches: the cohesive zone modeling (CZM) and the continuum damage modeling (CDM). These two approaches are compared both in terms of reliability, which is determined by comparison with experimental results, and applicability, which is determined by the parameters required and the computational time. The comparison between the two methodologies was the basis of their application to simulate the mechanical behavior under mode-I fracture behavior of adhesively bonded joints between two CFRP plates. This problem was chosen because there were experimental results to compare in the laboratory. The sandwich plates are modeled using the stromal element of ANSYS SOLID185. This item each layer separately modeled as orthotropic material. The adhesive is modeled using the interface element of ANSYS INTER205. For the purpose of modeling the failure of continuous medium developed macro routine using the programming language code ANSYS. The numerical results showed that both methodologies simulate sufficient precision the curve force-displacement of the connection. About applicability of the two methods, the comparison showed that the process of cohesive zone modeling outweighs the process of continuum damage modeling because it requires less number of parameters, but falls to the computational time. Both methods are suitable for use in numerical design of adhesively bonded joints.
