Kulturhus i Ösmo / Cultural Centre in ÖsmoKalén Trägårdh, Agnes January 2023 (has links)
Road 225 cuts through the landscape just south of Ösmo, Nynäshamn. As a consequence the nature area around the two lakes Västra and Östra Styran become difficult to access. My aim has been to embrace the situation. Instead of trying to connect Ösmo with the nature area, I wanted to reinforce the isolated location, to create a space of escapism. The visitor first escapes into the English garden which leads to the house of the people, the garden’s castle. The second escape unfolds when entering the east portal, which is emphasised by a change in façade material, from green Kolmårdsmarmor and red Ölandssten to white sandstone. The third escape is constituted by the activities performed in the building: dancing, playing music, performing and engaging in culture. In terms of facilities, the building accommodates new premises for the Dance Studio of Ösmo, a subsidiary to the municipal Music School, public co-working spaces and a theatre with blue classification according to the requirements of Riksteatern.

Потенциал танцевальной студии в развитии креативного мышления у молодежи : магистерская диссертация / The potential of a dance studio in the development of creative thinking among young peopleАлешина, Е. А., Aleshina, E. A. January 2022 (has links)
Creative thinking, as a skill of the future, has value in business, science, culture, art, politics – in all dynamic areas of life where competition is developed. Despite the fact that many people have an innate predisposition to creative thinking, this skill is associated with the peculiarities of the human psyche, so it can be developed in any person, because the human psyche is mobile and changeable. To achieve the goal, within the framework of the dissertation research, the following were identified: features of the development of creative thinking among young people and methods of stimulating it and the level of development, the potential possibilities of dance creativity as a form of development of creative thinking, the current state and prospects for the development of the Studio, including using methods of conjectural analysis of the Yekaterinburg creative industry market, and also identified and new technologies for the development of the creative potential of the individual on the basis of a dance studio have been tested. The first chapter presents a theoretical study of the socio-cultural portrait of the youth of the Sverdlovsk region, the skills of the future and creative thinking as a skill of the future. The second chapter of the dissertation presents a theoretical study of dance and its potential for personal development, the results of an empirical study on the current state of the dance industry in the region and the results of an empirical sociological study of clients, parents and teachers of the organization "Forsage dance school". Based on the results of empirical research and analysis of methods for identifying and forming creative thinking, new technologies of the Studio have been developed and implemented.

Dancing About Architecture: Choreographing the Anacostia WaterfrontWyss, Christine Louise 10 June 2024 (has links)
My thesis is about transforming the Anacostia waterfront with a rhythmic approach to seamlessly integrate it into the overall fabric of Washington, D.C. My design involves establishing seasonal celebrations throughout the year, including a redbud festival, and zooming in, to craft a space that celebrates the rich dance culture of Anacostia. My thesis goal is to foster a celebratory atmosphere through an interconnected design that harmonizes with its environment. My research involves exploring the relationship between dance, architecture, and trees to create an experience that would be enjoyed by the community and to bring people to Anacostia, which has historically been a neglected part of the city. The Anacostia Redbud Festival will be the waterfront's own version of the Cherry Blossom Festival, it'll be an opportunity for a celebration of this Native tree and to increase the city's tree canopy. It's a transformative approach for the Anacostia Waterfront as a whole, and I'll be proposing an overall, rhythmic site plan to enhance the recreational experience there. Zooming in, I chose a particular portion from my overall site proposal to intervene and place my dance structure. My design approach has been to explore vertical elements along with trees to create structural movement to mimic dance.
Jazz dance will be the foundation that my design will be based upon. I chose Jazz instead of Classic Ballet, which is universally known as the foundation of dance, to teach people that idea is euro-centric and neglects the history of other dance types. Jazz dance was invented by African slaves who shared it when they were brought to the U.S., they never codified it so white people took the chance to claim it for themselves. My design will be a celebration of Black culture and teach people who the true pioneers of Jazz dance are and how that's the true foundation of all dance.
Approaching the design of my structure, the idea of having an inhabitable roof took precedence because it allows for the structure to seamlessly intertwine with the existing park. The inhabitable roofs are made from long ramps that bring you from the ground to a rooftop experience that reaches into the surrounding tree canopy. The rooftop also has different pockets where one can find platforms to perform on or to just relax on. This whole ramp structure sits on top a dance pavilion that houses a casual theater, dance studios, gallery spaces and a café, allowing people to also enjoy dance inside and outside, blurring the lines between architecture and landscape. Furthermore, the building is surrounded by small vertical poles that act as structural elements, as well as an important façade element for shading. The small poles are placed in a loose order to imitate a forest of trees. The ramps and orientation of the building give emphasis to the new 11th street bridge structure that will be coming to Anacostia and overall creating a vibrant park that encourages movement and celebrates true D.C. culture. / Master of Architecture / This work holds significant value in its ability to transform the Anacostia waterfront into a vibrant cultural hub. It brings together the community through seasonal celebrations and highlights the rich heritage of dance, particularly jazz dance, which is deeply rooted in African American culture. By challenging Euro-centric narratives and educating the public about the true origins of jazz dance, the project fosters a greater appreciation for diverse cultural contributions.
The importance of this project lies in its potential to revitalize a historically neglected area, drawing visitors and investment to Anacostia. By enhancing the city's tree canopy and creating a unique cultural destination, the project contributes to environmental sustainability and urban beautification.
The impact creates a dynamic recreational space that encourages physical activity and cultural engagement. The integration of architecture and nature offers an immersive experience that blurs the lines between architecture and nature, promoting a deeper connection to both. Ultimately, this project has the potential to transform the Anacostia waterfront into a celebrated part of Washington, D.C., enriching the lives of residents and visitors alike.

Trippelhybriden / The Triple HybridVibegaard, Charlotte January 2014 (has links)
An increasing number of families with small children are now choosing to live in Stockholm’s inner city, which has led to a tremendous need for more pre-schools. The most common solution today is to use pavilions with temporary building permits where modules are assembled as required from time to time. As they provide such a flexible solution, these barracks are however often being used in a permanent manner, quite different from the interim solution they were once intended to be. Another problem that pre-schools face is that the children’s food is not cooked on location, but is instead prepared in industrial kitchens and delivered to the pre-schools. Although this is a viable solution, it does not fulfill the intended educational objective. The purpose of this project has been to design a pre-school in Stockholm’s inner city which provides a flexible option due to co-usage features. The pre-school’s kitchen also caters a restaurant which is open to the public. In the evenings, part of the children's space is used as a dance studio. This co-usage of space and function becomes the core and driving force of the project. The grounds of the pre-school are located in one corner of the park Tantolunden on Södermalm. One side of the grounds is adjacent to motor roads and railroad tracks and significant differences in level. Noise and traffic dangers are obvious. At the same time, the north side of the grounds shares an amazing park with the heritage listed Ekermanska malmgården which has existed at this site for centuries. Building in parks is controversial and the building has therefore been given the task of clarifying this site, which is currently difficult to use. By providing businesses open to the public along Ringvägen, it becomes a destination instead of merely a place of transit. By providing an extension of Ekermanska malmgården's direction, the boundaries of the park are also defined. The volume itself encloses a courtyard that becomes the children's safe haven.

Husen under bron Förskola : Houses Under the Bridge KindergardenLi, Rui-Xin January 2014 (has links)
Kindergarden - How can we create different synergies between different fields that they can benefit from each other? What different activities will suit the kindergarden? How will our perception of the kindergarden, of its need and function in society, change? In this Degree Project in Architecture I will be investigating the combination of the kindergarden together with a restaurant and a dance studio. I believe these activities will harmonize since they have overlapping benefits: We all eat, move and grow. With the new architectural activities in mind, I will further investigate the importance of the kindergarden as a part of society, more specifically our perception of what function it may, may not or could fill. I share the idea with a lot of authors, scientist that we are headed toward a society where children are kept too safe, thus minimising their chance to experience and learn to cope with a harsh reality when they grow up as adults. It's ok to get hurt to an extent, as long as they do not endanger their lives.
