Die tydperk in die Transvaalse geskiedenis wat met hierdie werkstuk bestryk word, het al heelwat aandag van sowel tydgenootlike skrywers as latere historici ontvang. Uit die aard van die saak het die aandag in die eerste instansie op die meer dramatiese geval - die Boere se stryd teen Britse oorheersing en hulle pogings om hulle onafhanklikheid terug te kry, wat ten einde laaste op die Eerste Vryheidsoorlog van 1880-1881 uitgeloop het. 'n Verdere faset waaraan reeds aandag bestee is, is die wyse waarop die Engelse Transvaal in hierdie jare regeer het. Waarskynlik omdat dit as 'n aparte tema beskou is, het die skrywer van hierdie werk egter geen aandag aan die Britte se administrasie van die Swartes bestee nie. Die aspek van die Britse tydperk in Transvaal het tot dusver weinig aandag ontvang. Weliswaar is sekere aspekte daarvan reeds aangesny, maar met enkele uitsonderings was dit nog nie die onderwerp van wetenskaplike ondersoek waarin die tema in al sy fasette nagevors is nie. In sy The History of Native Policy in South Africa from 1830 to the Present Day (1927), gee E.H. Brookes as 'n onderdeel van 'n breer onderwerp kortliks aandag aan die Britte se administrasie van die Transvaalse Swartes. In sy werk Grensbakens tussen Blank en Swart in Suid-Afrika (1947) raak ook P. van BiIjon 'n aspek van hierdie tema aan, hoewel sy behandeling daarvan in meer as in een opsig bevraagteken moet word. Hierna het ook die skrywer hiervan 'n beskrywing gegee van die Tussenregering se beleid met betrekking tot die verkryging van eiendomsreg op grand deur die Swartes. Yes / The morphology distribution of isotactic-polypropylene (iPP) shaped through a die during hot stretching process was investigated via wide-angle X-ray diffraction technique. The evolution of micro-structures in the outer layer (layer closer to the die wall) and the inner layer (layer in the center of die) of die-drawn iPP were both recorded. It turned out that the difference of morphology distribution between outer and inner layers changes with the distance from the die entrance to exit. In general, a larger difference between outer and inner layers could be found at the intermediate deformation region inside the die while such difference disappeared at both of the entrance and exit regions of die. These behaviors could be interpreted as a result of the existence of a heterogeneous distribution of force field inside the die, which was caused by the die geometry and inclination of the drawing force. This work showed that the heterogeneous force field inside the die could be revealed through analyzing the morphology of a die-drawn sample.

Jag vill som klassisk pianist bli bättre på att tolka sång- och pianomusik eftersom jag spelar mycket tillsammans med sångare i vardagslivet. Jag har valt två sånger ur sångcykeln Winterreise som jag har analyserat för att komma fram till en tolkning som jag kan argumentera för.   Jag har analyserat sångerna med not- och harmonianalys och jag har skrivit framförallt om något oförväntat eller nytt händer i musiken. När jag kände att jag undersökt partituren noga så började jag hänvisa till texten. Med arbetet har jag besvarat mina tre frågeställningar: Hur påverkar en djupare förståelse av Die Krähe och Frühlingstraum arbetet med musikaliska uttryck i de två sångerna? Hur tolkar jag kopplingen mellan texten och pianostämman i olika avsnitt? Hur får jag pianostämman att uttrycka detta? Nu i efterhand så har jag en inblick hur jag ska gå tillväga när jag ska tolka sång- och pianorepertoar. Min tidigare kunskap inom musikteori var ganska begränsad och detta arbetet har hjälpt mig att utvecklas.

Die Soldering occurs in aluminum permanent mold casting when the cast metal bonds with the die surface and remains stuck upon ejection of the part. Eventually, this layer builds up and production must be stopped for cleaning. It was estimated in a Contech squeeze casting plant in Pierceton, IN, that 1.5% of variable overhead can be directly attributed to die soldering. Previous work at WPI has focused on developing the mechanism of how soldering occurs. This work focuses on how that knowledge can be applied in an industrial setting. The work has focused on 4 major areas: (1) Using MAGMAsoft to predict die soldering, (2) Using surface metrology to measure die soldering, (3) Documenting the total process effects of using strontium modified casting alloys. The work has resulted in: (1) Guidelines for using MAGMAsoft to predict die soldering. The results can be incorporated into the existing MAGMA die soldering module, but provide more accurate time and temperature criteria. (2) The results of the study prove that measurement of the surface of the cast part itself can be used as a method for quantifying die soldering. (3) The total process effects of Sr-modification are reported, along with suggestions for immediate use of Sr-modification at the Pierceton, IN casting plant and guidelines for using Strontium in the future.

Over the past years, there are many studies discusses different modes of die cracking and improvement. Die cracking is one of the crucial issues that influence the reliability of flip chip assemblies. Die cracking depends on a combination of several factors, such as residual bending stresses generated in the package due to mismatches in the coefficients of thermal expansion(CTE) of the various materials in the assembly or wafer dicing process . In this study, the stresses in the chip of a FCBGA (Flip-Chip Ball Grid Array) induced by the temperature raising and by the mechanical load of different pressures on an automatic test handler are investigated by using commercial finite element software ANSYS, while the FCBGA is subjected to the high temperature electrically test. The causes and precautions corresponding to the die cracking are studied in order to improve the reliability of products.
