[pt] CALCEDÔNIA ONTEM E HOJE / [en] CHALCEDON YESTERDAY AND TODAY

VALTEMARIO SILVA FRAZÃO JUNIOR 13 July 2011 (has links)
[en] Council of Chalcedon, fourth ecumenical council of Catholic Church, taken place in 451, professes and defines solemnly the Jesus Christ s wide humanity and wide divinity, eternal incarnated Logos, combined in just one Person. The responsible for all the controversy that will be the key to the Council is the presbyter Eutyches, whose ideas to refuse Nestorian heresy fell in the opposite mistake: monophysitism. From that moment on, the Council creates a dogmatic formula, still current. The present dissertation, throughout a historical and theological approach, developes the Christology theme of Council of Chalcedon, from preceeded Christology, through its dogmatic formula, until the currency of the theme in the analyzation of contemporain Christology.

No. of bitstreams: 1 Isaque Sicsú de Oliveira.pdf: 813967 bytes, checksum: a912ab46e0ecf902895e26d7c7f85328 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2018-02-22 / Aliança de Misericordia - ADVENIAT / The present dissertation contemplates an investigation on the trinitarian dogma, as exposed and outlined by the Swiss theologian Hans Urs von Balthasar (1905-1988). The emphasis lies on the dramatic Balthasarian method. That is, the investigation seeks to clarify how Balthasar presents his vision of the Trinity in the second episode of his trilogy, Theo- Drama. In addition, it seeks to show how this method can be useful in presenting the Christian faith to an increasingly skeptical audience. Balthasar is one of the leading theologians of the 20th century. Its theological production is extremely long. Throughout his life, there were hundreds of works produced. The present dissertation concentrates mainly on the exposition of the trinitarian dogma in the five volumes of theodramik: (1) Prolegomena; (2) Dramatis Personae: Man in God; (3) Dramatis Personae: Persons in Christ; (4) The Action; (5) The Last Act. The hypothesis of the present dissertation is based on the way in which Balthasar presents the three Persons of the Trinity, as personages within a redemptive drama, in which the Father appears as the playwright and architect of the history of the redemption; the Son appears as the main character in the redemptive history, performing his role to the last consequences; and the Holy Spirit as the great drama director and guiding agent who guides the main character; For this, the first part of the dissertation concentrates on a brief summary of the life and work and distinctive features of the thought of Balthasar, trying to show how his geographical and historical locus was determinant in the construction of his theological convictions. Next, the doctrine of the Trinity is investigated in its classic dogmatic formulation, passing through Scripture, history of theology, main characters in the process of theological refinement of the Trinity, eventual doctrinal dissonances, culminating in an exposition of the balthasarian argumentation of the Trinity. Finally, it focuses on the way Balthasar was influenced by the theology of Karl Barth and how this robust theological dialogue can be a prototype of a respectful dialogue between Catholic and Protestant traditions within their convergences and divergences / conforme exposto e delineado pelo teológico suíço Hans Urs von Balthasar (1905-1988). A ênfase recai no método balthasariano dramático. A presente dissertação concentra-se majoritariamente na exposição do dogma trinitário nos cinco volumes da theodramik: (1) Prolegomena; (2) Dramatis Personae: Man in God; (3) Dramatis Personae: Persons in Christ; (4) The Action; (5) The Last Act.

Implementing inquiry based computational modeling curriculum in the secondary science classroom

Moldenhauer, Theodore Gerald 1970- 16 October 2014 (has links)
Better visualization of micro-level structures and processes can greatly enhance student understanding of key biological functions such as the central dogma. Previous research has demonstrated a need of introducing novel methods to increase student understanding of these concepts. The intention of this report is to show how computational modeling programs (CMPs) can be successfully used as an innovative method of teaching biology concepts that occur at a molecular level. The use of computers and web-based lessons are not new topics in secondary education studies but there is not an abundance of research related to computational modeling alone. We began by researching the many studies that have already indicated the benefits of using computers in the classroom with an emphasis on CMPs and simulations. Of these, we focused mostly on the ones that showed increased student engagement and influenced understanding of core science concepts. Based on the literature reviewed, a framework for curriculum designed around CMPs is proposed. Lastly, a model lesson is discussed to provide an example of how these professional grade tools can be employed in the classroom. This report provides a basis for the continued development of constructivist curriculum built around the use of professional grade computational tools in secondary science classrooms. / text

Detection of orthologs via genetic mapping augmentation

2013 January 1900 (has links)
Researchers interested in examining a given species of interest (or target species) that lacks complete sequence data can infer some knowledge of that species from one or more related species that has a complete set of data. To infer knowledge, it is desired to compare the available sequence data between the two species to find orthologs. However, without complete data sets, one cannot be certain of the validity of the detected orthologs. Using ortholog detection systems in concert with species’ mapping data, researchers can find regions of shared synteny, allowing for more certainty of the detected orthologs as well as allowing inference of some genetic information based on these regions of shared synteny. A pipeline software solution, Detection of Orthologs via Genetic Mapping Augmentation (DOGMA), was developed for this purpose. DOGMA’s functionality was tested using a target species, Phaseolus vulgaris, which only had partial sequence data available, and a closely related species, Glycine max, which has a fully se- quenced genome. On sequence similarity alone, which is the standard technique for detecting or- thologs, 205 potential orthologs were detected. DOGMA then filtered these results using mapping data from each species to determine that 121 of the 205 were quite likely true orthologs, referred to as putative orthologs, and the remaining 84 were categorized as reduced orthologs as there was either insufficient information present or were clearly outside a noted region of shared synteny. This provides evidence that DOGMA is capable of reducing false positives versus traditional techniques, such as applications based on Reciprocal Best BLAST Hits. If we interpret the output of the Or- tholuge program as the correct answer, DOGMA achieves 95% sensitivity. However, it is possible that some of the reduced orthologs classified by DOGMA are actually Ortholuge’s false positives, since DOGMA is using mapping data. To support this idea, we show DOGMA’s ability to detect false positives in the results of Ortholuge by artificially creating a paralog and removing the real ortholog. DOGMA properly classifies this data as opposed to Ortholuge.
