Esta tese propõe verificar os limites e possibilidades metodológicas do Experience Design na concepção de peças de mobiliário doméstico contemporâneo. As ferramentas utilizadas para a leitura do contexto de atuação pretendido deram origem ao que denominamos de emergência de questões sensíveis, que nortearam o desenvolvimento dos critérios de projeto, tendo em vista, uma abordagem mais humana e comunitária em busca da promoção da qualidade de vida, via design. A descrição do processo de escolha, aplicação e dificuldades encontradas no uso de tais ferramentas e métodos estão presentes no corpo deste trabalho, enriquecido com a adição de informações complementares, tais como imagens e descrições de projetos de referência, definições e microanálises. Trata-se, de certa maneira, de uma investigação de caráter interdisciplinar, dentro de um panorama rico, mas também intrincado, que deve considerar as questões sociais locais, a minimização dos impactos ambientais, a transformação do espaço doméstico e do próprio grupo familiar. Estas peças de suporte ao cotidiano são entendidas também como interfaces físicas capazes de potencializar a comunicação e transmissão de informações, entre gerações diferentes de uma mesma família, como por exemplo, os jovens e os idosos. Este depositário de memórias vincula fotografias familiares com relatos orais e os exibe em tempos diferentes dos de sua produção e registro. O fio condutor desta narrativa projetual é o sistema intitulado MEMOrabili@, apresentado ao final deste trabalho. / This thesis proposes to verify the methodological limits and possibilities of Experience Design in conceiving contemporary domestic furniture. The tools used to evaluate use-in-context gave rise to what we call \"sensitive issues\" that guided the development of design criteria based in a more human and community-oriented approach that promotes quality of life though design. The description of the selection process, its implementation and the difficulties encountered in using such tools and methods are included in this work, which also contains supplementary information such as images and descriptions of reference designs, definitions and microanalyses. The thesis deals with an interdisciplinary investigation of a broad but intricate context, requiring the consideration of local social issues, the minimization of environmental impact, and the transformation of domestic space as well as the family itself. The objects of day-to-day family life in questions are also understood as physical interfaces capable of enhancing the communication and transmission of information between generations. These repositories of memory link family photographs and oral histories, and remain on display long after their production and the events they record. MEMOrabili@ is the system that drives this design narrative, and it is presented at the end of this work.

O presente trabalho se dedica ao estudo do mobiliário presente nas casas dos povoados de Minas Gerais no século XVIII e início do XIX, entendendo-o como um dos principais elementos para a compreensão da dinâmica dos interiores residenciais e também tomando-o como parte integrante de uma complexa rede de relações, dadas as suas implicações na história social e da \"cultura material\". Deste modo, busca-se analisar os móveis, para além das classificações e descrições estilísticas, com o intuito de aprofundar o entendimento de seus usos e funções e em relação aos ambientes nos quais estes se inseriam, procurando-se também abordar questões relativas às características recorrentes ou particularidades tidas como de produção mineira. Para se cumprir tal objetivo, recorreu-se não apenas à bibliografia de referência mas também a textos coevos e fontes primárias disponíveis em diversos acervos e museus. Do cruzamento de tais informações se buscou estabelecer um diálogo vivo que permite lançar luz sobre importantes mudanças concernentes à vida privada no contexto da América portuguesa no decorrer dos Setecentos e princípio dos Oitocentos, assim como sobre a importância do reconhecimento das especificidades desenvolvidas no ambiente de produção artística e moveleira mineira e de seus condicionantes, questões que apontam ainda outras possibilidades de estudos acerca do móvel em uso na região mineira no século XVIII e início do XIX. / The current work is dedicated to the study of the furniture in the houses of Minas Gerais\' Villages in the 18th and early 19th centuries; understanding it as one of the main elements in the comprehension of the residential interior\'s dynamic. It has also been taken as a part of a complex net of relations, given its implications in the social and \"material culture\" history. Therefore, this study\'s aim is to analyze the furniture beyond the classifications and stylistic descriptions, with the intention of deepening the understanding of its uses and functions in relation to the environment in which the pieces were inserted; as well as approaching matters related to the recurrent characteristics or peculiarities seen as a Minas Gerais\' production. To fulfill such goal, in addition to reference bibliography, coeval texts and primary sources, which are available in several collections and museums, were consulted. By interweaving such information, it was sought to establish a living dialogue which allows light to be shed on important changes regarding the private life in the Portuguese-America\'s context throughout the 700\'s and early 800\'s, as well as on the importance of recognizing the specificities developed in the artistic and furniture production environment in Minas Gerais; issues that point out even more possibilities of study concerning the furniture used in the Eighteenth and early Nineteenth century in the studied region.

\"Itinerário de borboletas\" olha para as relações existentes entre o mobiliário e a arquitetura residencial através da poltrona BKF e de seus vínculos com os espaços da casa. Tem como objetivo analisar e refletir sobre as condições de design focadas na concepção, no projeto e na produção da BKF, reconhecendo as inter-relações existentes entre esse design e a arquitetura no cenário doméstico de uso da poltrona. Pretende constituir o registro de uma viagem através das casas habitadas (ou ocupadas) pelas BKF, usando como metodologia análises contextuais, visuais e projetuais, analisando e refletindo sobre a interação existente entre o mobiliário e os ambientes domésticos onde a proposta de investigação se concentra. Procura-se colaborar no desenvolvimento da pesquisa em área de projeto como um campo em construção epistemológica, ao adaptar e utilizar as ferramentas de produção e de representação de projeto para a descrição, análise e interpretação dos dados. Também pretende contribuir para uma compreensão mais profunda no conhecimento da relação entre mobiliário e arquitetura como áreas de um mesmo corpo disciplinar. Persegue as seguintes perguntas: Onde? Quais espaços domésticos a BKF ocupa? Como a poltrona ocupa tais espaços? O que significa? E quais são as relações entre a BKF e esses ambientes? Em síntese, este trabalho se concentra em estudar e analisar de que maneira a cadeira BKF ocupa os cenários domésticos, que significado tem sua presença para os arquitetos, e que laços e relações são oferecidos para o habitante na forma do sentar como interpretação do morar. Este trabalho é uma pequena mostra que pretende ler e compreender a arquitetura em função de uma poltrona particular. / \"Butterflies\' Itinerary\" observes the existing relationships between furniture and residential architecture, through the BKF chair and its links with the domestic spaces. The goal of the work is to analyze and reflect on the design conditions, with a focus on the conception, the project and the production of the BKF chair. We look at the existing relationships between this chair and the architecture of the domestic spaces where it is used. This work has the intention of building a travel log of the houses inhabited (or occupied) by this chair. The methodology used includes contextual, visual and design analyses. We analyze and reflect on the existing relationships between the furniture and the domestic architecture. We aim at making a contribution to the development of research in the area of design practice, a field undergoing an epistemological development, by adapting and using production and representation tools to describe, analyze and interpret the available data. More in general, we would like to contribute to the deeper understanding of the relationship between furniture and architecture, as parts of the same disciplinary body. We consider the following questions: Where do we find these chairs? Which domestic spaces does the BKF chair occupy? How does it occupy those spaces? What is the significance of the chair\'s presence? What is the relationship between the chair and those spaces? In short, this work focuses on the study and analysis of how the BKF chair occupies the domestic spaces, what the meaning of its presence is for the architects, and what links and relations are offered to the inhabitant through the way of seating, as an interpretation of the way of living.
