The Effects of Post-Recall Feedback: Examining Witness Recall Quantity, Accuracy, and Confidence

Hirn Mueller, Dana Elizabeth 18 June 2015 (has links)
Most eyewitness identification protocols recommend withholding feedback after an identification has been made, at least until a measure of confidence can be gathered. Although much research has examined the impact of post-identification feedback on subsequent witness behavior and confidence, research addressing the importance of post-recall feedback remains largely incomplete. The current study examined the effects of post-recall feedback and question type on subsequent witness recall, confidence, and reports of view of the crime. In line with previous eyewitness identification research, it was predicted that participants receiving confirming post-recall feedback would be more confident in their prior recall compared to participants receiving neutral, no, or disconfirming feedback. One hundred and fifty-eight participants viewed a mock crime video of a robbery followed by an interview which included both open-ended and cued questions. Participants were then given either confirming, neutral, no, or disconfirming feedback and asked about their confidence and the clarity of their view of the perpetrator. Under the pretense that the recording equipment failed, participants were interviewed again using the same question format. The second interview was followed by a series of suggestive questions. After the second interview, participants were again asked about their confidence and self-reported quality of view of the perpetrator. Participant interviews were transcribed and scored for quantity, accuracy, and consistency by two blind, independent coders. Analyses revealed that feedback had a systematic impact on confidence such that participants who received confirming feedback were more confident in the overall accuracy of their prior memory accounts than those who received neutral, no, or disconfirming feedback and participants who received neutral or no feedback were more confident in the overall accuracy of their prior memory accounts compared to those in the disconfirming feedback condition. In line with previous eyewitness identification research, there was no significant relationship between recall accuracy and reported confidence. Results from the current study can be used to inform real-world investigative interviewers by highlighting the consequences of offering post-recall feedback. Specifically, feedback can impact witness confidence irrespective of actual recall accuracy.

Von der Kunst des Prüfens - Assessment literacy

Wollersheim, Heinz-Werner, Pengel, Norbert January 2016 (has links)

Design-Education: Die Siemens HMI-Design Masterclass

Gerstheimer, Oliver, Kniewel, Romy, Frei, Sebastian, Kranert, Felix 06 January 2020 (has links)

Advanced Modelling and Energy Efficiency Prediction for Road Vehicles

Nordström, Erik January 2020 (has links)
This thesis presents a first real world case-study of road transport operations that use the COVER format, in which the driver and the vehicle are regarded as separate entities. This format enables a complex representation of the transport operation that potentially better describe reality compared to the conventional representation used in today’s certification tools. The representation of operations treated in this thesis is called Operating Cycles and has been used to fully describe three representative transport missions from a case-study truck. Stochastically generated operating cycles have been used to create a large data set and thus prevent overfitting of specific cycles. The Operating Cycle-representation allowed for fair comparison between vehicle designs and ultimately manifested a vehicle composition that reduced the fuel consumption by nearly 10% for the same kind of transport operations.

Östling Gran, Niklas, Milenov, Petar January 2021 (has links)
The grocery trade is part of the food industry, which is Sweden's third largest industry. It is obvious that it is an industry with a high market concentration where the market share of the three largest companies corresponds to almost 87%. In addition to the high concentration in the market, the industry is undergoing a structural change in new store formats that are more adapted to the customer's needs, among other things through geographical location, opening hours, service, price and design. Each individual has their own preferences when it comes to where to shop. At present, the supply of grocery stores is large and there is a tough level of competition throughout the country. It is therefore important for the various chains in the grocery trade to create and maintain a loyal customer base in order to remain relevant but also to survive the tough competition. The purpose of the study is to create an understanding of which marketing techniques the various chains in the Swedish grocery trade use to create and maintain a loyal customer base. To be ableto investigate this, a qualitative study was conducted consisting of four interviews with three different chains. The respondents who have participated have either had a central and high-ranking role within the chain or in the stores. This is because it is important for the study that the respondents have insight into how the organization works. The chains that have participated are: ICA, Hemköp and Coop. Based on the theoretical framework and the empirical evidence that has been collected, ananalysis has been carried out in order to be able to draw a conclusion. The conclusion that is drawn is that there are many and important factors that come into play to maintain and create aloyal customer base. But the marketing technique that stands out and that is of utmost importanceis loyalty programs followed by customer relationship management, relationship management and corporate store image.

Optimizing the LLVM ELF linker for a distributed compilation environment : Concurrent Linking with LLVM LLD / Optimering av LLVMs ELF-länkare vid användning av distribuerad kompilering

Wilkens, Alexander January 2020 (has links)
Modern build systems that build large software projects often utilize a distributed compiler, allowing the compilation of object files to be parallelized over multiple machines. These build systems are often not able to fully utilize all the resources available on all machines. As linking is not part of this distributed process, the unused resources could be used to perform linking instead, reducing the total build time. However, linking is often performed at the end of the build process, thus not being able to access the previously unused resources. In this thesis project, a linker that runs concurrently with the compilation process of the build system is designed, implemented, and evaluated . As the compilation process produces an object file, the linker performs a partial link using this file. The link is finalized at the end of the build, not unlike a traditional linker. The results show that the total build time is reduced when using the new linker in a build system utilizing a distributed compiler. In some cases, the time spent linking at the end of the build system is reduced over 50 percent when compared to the reference linker.
