Detta examensarbete behandlar ämnet EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) och fokuserar på relationen mellan en grossist och dess leverantörer. EDI är ett sätt att elektroniskt överföra standardiserade dokument på, från ett datasystem till ett annat, utan eller med begränsad mänsklig inblandning. Arbetets syfte är att belysa viktiga aspekter angående EDI-förfarandet hos en stor grossist. Aspekter som behandlas avser det maktförhållande och krav som råder mellan en grossist och dess leverantörer, såsom att införa EDI eller inte, utnyttjandet av EDI, hur makten är fördelad samt hur framtiden påverkar. Undersökningen baseras på intervjuer från sex leverantörer till en grossist och en intervju med grossisten. EDI används i första hand till att hjälpa företagen att rationalisera sin verksamhet. Främst är det administrativ tid som sparas, felfrekvensen som minskas och möjligheter att göra en strategisk satsning som är huvudvinsterna. Problem kan vara att det blir ett överflöd av personal efter ett EDI-införande.

Elektronisk affärskommunikation har kommit att influera den privata företagsamheten i allt högre grad. Syftet med denna rapport är att ta reda på hur den privata företagsamheten i Skaraborg använder sig av elektronisk affärskommunikation. Rapporten baserar sig på intervjuer som har gjorts med åtta privata företag inom skilda branscher i Skaraborg. Intervjuerna är uppdelade i fem olika delar, presentation av företagen, e-närvaro, e-handel, e-business samt för- nackdelar och övriga kommentarer. Resultatet som framkom ur undersökningen var att de undersökta företagen har kommit olika långt vad det gäller utveckling och användning av elektronisk affärskommunikation. E-mail och hemsida har nästintill samtliga undersökta företag, men hur pass stor del av de anställda som kan använda sig e-mail samt hur de undersökta företagen använder sig av sin hemsida skiljer sig markant.

Handel mellan företag sker traditionellt via manuella rutiner. Exempelvis görs beställningar ofta med hjälp av telefon eller post vilket gör att tiden för att genomföra en affär väldigt lång. Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) är en teknik som låter företag göra affärer på ett elektroniskt och mer eller mindre automatiserat sätt vilket gör att tiden för att genomföra en affär minskar. EDI har använts i många år men då mest av stora företag som har tillräckliga resurser för att införa EDI-system och för att upprätta erforderliga kommunikationslänkar. Mindre företag har oftast inte de resurser som krävs för detta och blir således utan effektivare handelsrutiner. XML har fått uppmärksamhet som ett dokumentformat för strukturerade dokument vilket de dokument som överförs via EDI är ett exempel på. Value Added Networks (VAN) är ett företag som fungerar som en mellanlänk mellan parter och erbjuder olika tjänster som exempelvis konverteringar mellan olika företags standarder som bygger upp EDI-dokumenten. Detta gör att kommunikationen mellan parter blir dyr och oftast en orsak till att mindre företag inte inför EDI. Internet är idag ett utbrett och billigt kommunikationssätt vilket öppnar vägar för mindre företag att kunna kommunicera elektroniskt med andra företag. Vidare är XMLs naturliga koppling till webben en fördel eftersom dokument skapade i XML kan läsas i en vanlig webläsare. Denna rapport kommer därför försöka besvara frågan om XML/EDI är den bättre lösningen för små till medelstora företag jämfört med traditionell EDI. För att besvara frågan gjordes en undersökning som resulterade i faktorer som påverkar valet av EDI-införande

This thesis analyzes the effectiveness of IS / ICT in enterprises. At the beginning of the theoretical section explains the basic terms informatics discipline. It is described an application to support basic processes in logistics enterprises (ERP) applications and enabling the electronic exchange of data between businesses (EDI). Conclusion theoretical part is devoted to analyzing the effectiveness of investment in IS / ICT. The practical part describes the basic process of manufacturing logistics company focused on the application of IS / ICT. Then, an analysis of the costs incurred by entering incorrect data into information system. Following the calculation of cost savings by introducing EDI technology to receive orders in a manufacturing company.

The aim of the work is to analyze current situation and to propose better and innovative ways of how to improve the procedure of order processing and shipping. This master´s thesis focuses on possibilities of electronical data interchange (EDI) within chosen ERP system Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. As a part of this thesis an analysis of company´s requirements for electronical data interchange (EDI), document creation and processing will be performed and a proposal of covering those requirements within the environment of the chosen information system will be suggested.

Diplomová práce se zabývá zdokumentováním procesů implemetace a podpory komunikační metody EDI a navržením zlepšení těchto procesů v prostředí softwarové firmy, která tuto službu nabízí jako svůj product.

This thesis deals with the analysis of information system in the selected company ŽĎAS and subsequent elaboration of draft to improve individual components and services related to information system and business processes. The work focuses primarily on the IS designed for engineering, which is one of the most valueable enterprise activity.

The diploma thesis deals with the analysis of the existing information system and proposals suitable for strengthening the automation of business processes and further growth of the company. The work is divided into three parts. The first part deals with the theoretical knowledge from the field of information technologies, which are the basis for clarifying the concepts and methods that will be described in the work. An analysis of the current state of the information system forms the second part of this work. On the basis of these analysis are presented proposals and changes which will lead to the improvement of the company's information strategy and changes in the simplification of the business processes in the company.
