The effect of ambient lighting combined with EVA warning on driver reaction

Ondomisi, Petr January 2023 (has links)
Emergency vehicles are at increased traffic risk due to legal exemptions like speeding or running red lights during emergencies. These exemptions can cause delays and complications in their response. The study explored if warning messages to passenger car drivers, particularly the EVA (Emergency Vehicle Approaching) message, with or without ambient lighting, could improve safety and response. A driving simulator experiment with 60 participants tested the impact of different levels of warning, including the EVA message and augmented ambient lighting (AEL). Participants also completed pre- and post-experiment questionnaires. The test involved a rural road scenario with background music to challenge emergency vehicle detection. Results showed significant behavioural differences between drivers receiving no warning and those receiving either form of warning, but no significant difference between the two warned groups. While attitudes towards this technology were positive, further research on the effectiveness of ambient lighting is needed. /

Johansson, Elisabeth January 2021 (has links)
Familjekaraktärerna påverkar Dunnes handlingar i oväntade riktningar.

A case study of financialization and EVA®

Gleadle, P., Cornelius, Nelarine January 2008 (has links)
No / This study contributes to the literature on shareholder value and financialization, which to date has produced few case studies at the individual firm level. We provide a grounded account of management control under financialization, focusing on the apparently dramatic turnaround in performance of one factory, located in the northeast of England (Midco). However, in contrast to some of the more prescriptive accounts of shareholder value implementation, we resist overly simplistic explanations that the turnaround was 'due to' EVA. Instead, we suggest that both the factory's prior experience of change, particularly TQM, plus the presence of economic insecurity facilitated the turnaround. We compare our findings with other relevant studies and suggest that EVA and financialized solutions do not constitute a panacea for struggling organizations. Specifically, a strategy prioritizing new product development may be incompatible with the type of practices introduced by Midco.

Localized muscle fatigue during isotonic and nonisotonic isometric efforts

Iridiastadi, Hardianto 21 January 2004 (has links)
Work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) are prevalent in the workplace, and epidemiology studies show that these problems do not tend to diminish. While the use of new and advanced technology has substantially reduced the amount of physical workload, repetitive manual activities are still typically observed in various work settings. Despite their fairly low workload intensity, prolonged repetitive tasks have been associated with the development of musculoskeletal complaints and problems. Research on localized muscle fatigue (LMF) has been viewed as a viable endeavor toward understanding the processes and mechanisms associated with WMSDs. A mounting of evidence on local fatigue during sustained static work has been presented, but much less is known with respect to muscle fatigue during more complex activities. A study was conducted with the primary objectives of determining the repeatability of several commonly used fatigue measures, and to evaluate the presence of long-lasting effects of fatigue from different recovery periods. Based on low-level intermittent arm abductions, findings from this study demonstrated that the use of perceptions of muscular discomfort and muscle strength as fatigue measures was satisfactory. In contrast, electromyography (EMG)-based measures were characterized by a fairly low repeatability. The study also suggested that, whenever practical, two days of recovery should be allotted in studies involving multiple exposures to fatiguing protocols. Long lasting effects of fatigue could be present when shorter amounts of recovery period were assigned. A second study was also carried out to investigate the effects of work parameters (force-level, work-rest ratio, and work cycle) on muscular fatigue during intermittent static efforts. It was suggested that work conditions with muscular contraction level less than 12% MVE was non-fatiguing, irrespective of the values of the work parameters selected. Intermittent work with higher levels of muscle contraction might be acceptable, but it was dependent upon interactions of the other two parameters. The effects of dynamic work conditions on muscle fatigue were investigated in another study. Findings from this third study suggested that muscles responded differently under dynamic conditions and the use of typical EMG measures (dynamic EMG) could be less sensitive. This study further demonstrated that fatigue evaluations during such conditions were difficult, and only a limited number of EMG-based measures could be potentially employed. / Ph. D.

Chatigny, Eva 16 April 2018 (has links)

Chang,Dan T.Y. Unknown Date (has links)

New evaluation methodologies are persistently live inside of the organizations, for example, the EVA®, providing an updated evaluation between investments and its costs, promoting a value generation overview. The aim of this dissertation is to promote a theoretical and practical evaluation among EVA®, performance indicators and stock price in a study of case contemplating Embraer and the worldwide aerospace market. However, this dissertation begins with a theoretical observation of the main themes in analysis, as capital structure, costs involved and EVA®, and forward, applying these concepts in the EVA® observation as value methodology and its correlation with other performance indicators, as well as Embraer and world aerospace market. The results achieved in this research, at first moment by Embraer followed by aerospace sector, were similar didn t have significant correlation between EVA® and stock price. Similarly, the more significant correlations occurred between EVA® and the operational performance indicators, reflecting the current positions of the companies in analysis / Com a evolução dos modelos de gestão ao longo do tempo, as organizações têm buscado, incessantemente, formas de minimizarem o risco à tomada de decisão.
