Trying to dive deeply into social dimension of everyday aesthetics one can find himself being an everyday artist. A possibility of seeing beauty in all the objects, ideas and actions from a somebody’s daily routine defines a new figure of the artworld who is no more just an artist or just a viewer, but – a perceiver. This thesis presents a collection of three short stories written or revised during my graduate tenure at Texas A&M University. Thus, what follows offers a solid example of the creative writing and literary knowledge obtained through creative writing coursework and support from English departmental faculty. In order to review my research methodology, I have provided an introduction to discuss each story?s development and literary influences. These stories, entitled ?Imagine a King,? ?Bleach Everything,? and ?Dotting the Iris,? explore themes of sacrifice, the incompatibility of happiness and truth, and the benefits and dangers of silence. However, the overarching theme revolves around the injurious treatment of things that should be considered sacred, namely self, family, and history.

Despite the success illness novels have acquired in the last decade, the misrepresentation of chronic illness in the Young Adult genre is still going unnoticed. In an ableist society that still needs to be educated about invisible disabilities, most of the contemporary YA writers insist on finding miraculous solutions and questionable happy endings to their stories. The aim of this thesis is therefore to study the different ways in which YA writers fetishize and understate invisible disability and to find a way to subvert it. By focusing on the miracle cure trope and romanticization in the case of Nicola Yoon’s Everything Everything, it attempts to highlight the characteristics of low-quality disability fiction and demonstrate why and how the use of disability biases can affect negatively both disabled and nondisabled young readers. In addition, through the scrutiny of the author’s first YA novel, Nothing Wrong with Snails, it then illustrates how the in-depth analysis of past disability literature improved the author’s personal craft and enabled them to portray chronic illness and invisible disability avoiding stereotypes, biases, and tropes. In conclusion, it argues that writers ought to rely on disability studies in order to reach higher standards in the representation of invisible disability in YA fiction.

To understand one kind of oppression in necessary sterility and another in marginalization so profound blindness can result. That is to ask, how long must one be told they do not see a thing they see before they don’t, before transgressions become norms? A list of "Indulgences" modeled loosely after Martin Luther’s Ninety-Five Theses outlines content. Five sections reference the five pillars of Islam— with each containing nineteen individual proposals. Nineteen serves as the common denominator for the mathematical structure of much of the text of the Quran.

Foreign aid is the subject in development economics that created controversies about its influences on the economy of the recipient countries. This study is an attempt to explain the effects that aid may have on trade, with a focus on the trade costs associated with the creation of business ties. Tied aid creates incentives for the developing countries to keep positive trading relationships with their donors, mainly because of the diminishing trad-ing costs associated with long term contacts. Subsequently, programs related to infra-structure and trade enforcement have been launched, that work towards the integration of the Least Developing Countries into the world economy.This study includes the analysis of the trade flows and foreign aid disbursement be-tween the “Group of Seven” countries (G7) and the Least Developing Countries, for a time span of 22 years (1988-2009). The results show that aid does have a significant ef-fect on the trade flows between the developed and developing countries. The explana-tion to this is related to the trading costs and the infrastructure development that tends to diminish the costs linked to distance- and border-related issues, and the sunk costs of market research and entry. In accordance, the distance coefficient is smaller after 1997, as result of decreased trade costs and increased export flows from recipients to donors.

The goal of the thesis is to provide investors and established businesses insights into the evolving concept of Internet of Things in the context of a business opportunity. First, the thesis provides comprehensive overview of the IoT concept, its historical development and relevant concepts similar to IoT including its definition and explanation. Second, the thesis discusses IoT as a disruptive technology with implications for general business strategy, current business models, value chains and competitive landscape. Third, it describes overwhelming opportunities for IoT application in various business fields and processes bringing added value to its stakeholders. Visionary concepts and applicable use cases are identified. Finally, the thesis analyses IoT market perception from both customer and business perspective based on quantitative and qualitative data researched. The research is focused mainly on customer awareness and value perception of IoT products as well as major drivers and challenges of the IoT market from business players' perspective. Such analytical insights identify major patterns and dynamism of the IoT market.

Mainly because of the problems with species delineation, the biogeography of microscopic organisms is notoriously difficult to elucidate. In this contribution, variable nuclear and mitochondrial DNA markers were sequenced from individual specimens representing the Echiniscus virginicus complex that are morphologically indistinguishable under light microscopy (five populations from the temperate Eastern Nearctic and 13 populations from the subtropical and tropical zone). A range of methods was used to dissect components of variability within the complex (Bayesian inference, haplotype networks, Poisson tree processes, automatic barcode gap discovery delineations, principal components analysis and ANOVA). We found deep divergence between the temperate Eastern Nearctic E. virginicus and pantropical Echiniscus lineatus in all three genetic markers. In contrast, intraspecific genetic variation was very low, regardless of the geographical distance between the populations. Moreover, for the first time, statistical predictions of tardigrade geographical distributions were modelled. The factor determining the allopatric geographical ranges of deceptively similar species analysed in this study is most likely to be the type of climate. Our study shows that widespread tardigrade species exist, and both geographical distribution modelling and the genetic structure of populations of the pantropical E. lineatus suggest wind-mediated (aeolian) passive long-distance dispersal.

The autonomous driving (AD) industry is advancing at a rapid pace. New sensing technology for tracking vehicles, controlling vehicle behavior, and communicating with infrastructure are being added to commercial vehicles. These new automotive technologies reduce on road fatalities, improve ride quality, and improve vehicle fuel economy. This research explores two types of automotive sensor fusion systems: a novel radar/camera sensor fusion system using a long shortterm memory (LSTM) neural network (NN) to perform data fusion improving tracking capabilities in a simulated environment and a traditional radar/camera sensor fusion system that is deployed in Mississippi State’s entry in the EcoCAR Mobility Challenge (2019 Chevrolet Blazer) for an adaptive cruise control system (ACC) which functions in on-road applications. Along with vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists, the sensor fusion system deployed in the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer uses vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication to communicate with infrastructure such as traffic lights to optimize and autonomously control vehicle acceleration through a connected corridor
