Zkoumání vlastností top kvarku pomocí experimentu ATLAS na LHC / Investigation of properties of the top quark with the ATLAS experiment at LHC

This thesis presents the measurement of the differential cross section of the top-antitop pair production in proton-proton collisions at center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV at the ATLAS experiment. The measurement is performed for top-antitop events in the single lepton decay channel in the boosted topol- ogy. The measured differential cross section is expressed as a function of the top quark transverse momentum at particle level and at parton level. The mea- sured distributions are compatible with the theoretical predictions of the Standard Model. The experimental techniques used in this measurement are discussed with emphasis on the jet reconstruction and on the identification of jets originating from b-quark fragmentation. The jet reconstruction is influenced by simultane- ous proton-proton collisions (pileup), and the mitigation of these pileup effects is studied. A novel pileup subtraction technique for jets is proposed using an ex- tension of the methods currently being employed by the LHC experiments. The new method has a good performance in removing the pileup contributions at the level of jet constituents. 1

Teams contribute more and punish less

Challenges in global politics like climate change, maritime piracy and fighting highly contagious diseases concern global public goods. The related policy decisions are mostly made by teams. In contrast, economic models of global public goods typically assume a single rational decision-maker. We use a laboratory experiment to compare team decisions to decisions of individuals in a finitely repeated public good game with and without a costly punishment option. Teams of three participants coordinate on decisions either by majority or unanimity rule. We find that in absence of a punishment option teams contribute more to the public good than individuals. With a punishment option subsequently to the contribution decision team treatments exhibit a less frequent use of anti-social punishment and lower levels of social as well as anti-social punishment. Extreme preferences for punishment are eliminated by the majority decision rule. Overall, team decisions are closer to the social optimum and teams yield higher net payoffs when compared to individuals.

Body, Surveillance and Ethics PhD Thesis Mgr. Martin Charvát, Ph.D. Abstract The aim of my dissertation thesis is to analyze the dispositions of non-normative ethics as presented in works of M. Foucault, G. Deleuze and J. Derrida. My hypothesis is that non- normative ethics must be conceived as an interpretation and thematization of the meaning of the relationship between body, surveillance, event and experiment. What brings together Foucault, Deleuze and Derrida is the critique of externally constituted moral codes that are always creating a historically-economically-polico-socially determined subject, or certain norms of conduction and behaviour that are considered to be "good" or "right". However, the above-mentioned authors have based their conceptions on the belief that the human life should be characterized by freedom, or the potential of articulation of an individual (or his behaviour/action), regardless of external moral determinations. Foucault, Deleuze and Derrida distinguish the possibility of a constant crossing of given institutional and socially grounded constraints, with the goal of the constant shaping of ones live that would not be restricted by normative and prescriptive rules. Counter-Current Flow Limitation (CCFL) is of importance for PWR safety analyses in several accident scenarios connected with loss of coolant. Basing on the experiences obtained during a first series of hot leg tests now new experiments on counter-current flow limitation were conducted in the TOPFLOW pressure vessel. The test series comprises air-water tests at 1 and 2 bar as well as steam-water tests at 10, 25 and 50 bar. During the experiments the flow structure was observed along the hot leg model using a high-speed camera and web-cams. In addition pressure was measured at several positions along the horizontal part and the water levels in the reactor-simulator and steam-generator-simulator tanks were determined. This report documents the experimental setup including the description of operational and special measuring techniques, the experimental procedure and the data obtained. From these data flooding curves were obtained basing on the Wallis parameter. The results show a slight shift of the curves in dependency of the pressure. In addition a slight decrease of the slope was found with increasing pressure. Additional investigations concern the effects of hysteresis and the frequencies of liquid slugs. The latter ones show a dependency on pressure and the mass flow rate of the injected water. The data are available for CFD-model development and validation.

Der vorliegende Bericht gibt einen zusammenfassenden Überblick der im Vorhaben erreichten Ergebnisse. Ziel war die Qualifikation von CFD-Methoden für Zweiphasenströmungen mit Phasenüber¬gang. Dafür werden neuartige experimentelle Daten benötigt. Diese können an der TOPFLOW-Anlage des HZDR generiert werden, da die Anlage Experimente in für die Reaktorsicher-heits¬forschung relevanten Skalen und Parametern mit innovativen Messtechniken verbindet. Die experimentellen Arbeiten umfassen Untersuchungen zu Strömungen in vertikalen Rohren mit Hilfe der ultraschnellen Röntgentomographie, zu Strömungen mit und ohne Phasenübergang in einem Testbassin sowie zur Gegenstrombegrenzung in einem Heißstrangmodell. Diese werden im vorliegenden Bericht nur kurz dargestellt, da es zu allen 3 Versuchsserien ausführliche Dokumentationen in separaten Berichten gibt. Ein wichtiges Ergebnis der Arbeiten zur CFD-Qualifizierung ist der Erstellung des Baseline-Modellkonzepts sowie die Erstellung des Baseline-Modells für polydisperse Blasenströmungen. Damit wird ein wesentlicher Beitrag zur Erhöhung der Vorhersagefähigkeit von CFD-Codes auf Basis des Zwei- oder Mehr-Fluid-Modells erreicht. Das innovative Generalized Two-Phase Flow Konzept (GENTOP) zielt hingegen auf eine Erweiterung der Einsatzmöglichkeiten der Zweiphasen-CFD. In vielen Strömungen treten unterschiedlicher Morphologien der Phasen bzw. Strömungsformen parallel in einer Strömungsdomäne auf. Außerdem gibt es Übergänge zwischen diesen Morphologien. Mit dem GENTOP-Konzept wurde erstmals ein Rahmen geschaffen der die Simulation solcher Strömungen auf konsistente Art und Weise ermöglicht. Spezielle Modellentwicklungen erfolgten mit dem Ziel einer besseren Modellierung des Phasenübergangs.

In this work I also analysed several thesis about practical and experimental chemistry. In this thesis I lay stress on importance of experimental and practice chemistry in colleges in Czech Republic. My task was to create easy teaching materials for active education and the utilization of easy experiments to illustrate theory. The experiments are very easy, it's not necessary many tools and it's not even necessary to use chemical laboratory. .

ABSTRACT: The thesis stems from the basic need to support and develop natural science education. Based on didactic, technical-economic and ergonomic requirements, a teaching tools kit has been created, which facilitates 100 natural science experiments. The kit includes a methodological manual; further methodological support is also provided on the webpage of the kit's manufacturer. To complement the kit, a concept of an optional teacher training course Natural Science Experiments for Preschools and Primary Schools has been created. The course will take place at the Pedagogical Faculty of Charles University in the school year 2013/2014. During the course of the thesis, didactic research methods were used to choose, process, test, organize, and optimise educational experiments. The pedagogical methods used included questionnaires and expert testimonials. The thesis provides a substantial response to the current educational needs in the field of natural science pre-literacy already at preschools and natural science literacy at primary schools. Mobile Netzwerke der fünften Generation zeichen sich aus durch vielfältigen Anforderungen und Einsatzszenarien. Drei unterschiedliche Anwendungsfälle sind hierbei besonders relevant: 1) Industrie-Applikationen fordern Echtzeitfunkübertragungen mit besonders niedrigen Ausfallraten. 2) Internet-of-things-Anwendungen erfordern die Anbindung einer Vielzahl von verteilten Sensoren. 3) Die Datenraten für Anwendung wie z.B. der Übermittlung von Videoinhalten sind massiv gestiegen. Diese zum Teil gegensätzlichen Erwartungen veranlassen Forscher und Ingenieure dazu, neue Konzepte und Technologien für zukünftige drahtlose Kommunikationssysteme in Betracht zu ziehen. Ziel ist es, aus einer Vielzahl neuer Ideen vielversprechende Kandidatentechnologien zu identifizieren und zu entscheiden, welche für die Umsetzung in zukünftige Produkte geeignet sind. Die Herausforderungen, diese Anforderungen zu erreichen, liegen jedoch jenseits der Möglichkeiten, die eine einzelne Verarbeitungsschicht in einem drahtlosen Netzwerk bieten kann. Daher müssen mehrere Forschungsbereiche Forschungsideen gemeinsam nutzen. Diese Arbeit beschreibt daher eine Plattform als Basis für zukünftige experimentelle Erforschung von drahtlosen Netzwerken unter reellen Bedingungen. Es werden folgende drei Aspekte näher vorgestellt: Zunächst erfolgt ein Überblick über moderne Prototypen und Testbed-Lösungen, die auf großes Interesse, Nachfrage, aber auch Förderungsmöglichkeiten stoßen. Allerdings ist der Entwicklungsaufwand nicht unerheblich und richtet sich stark nach den gewählten Eigenschaften der Plattform. Der Auswahlprozess ist jedoch aufgrund der Menge der verfügbaren Optionen und ihrer jeweiligen (versteckten) Implikationen komplex. Daher wird ein Leitfaden anhand verschiedener Beispiele vorgestellt, mit dem Ziel Erwartungen im Vergleich zu den für den Prototyp erforderlichen Aufwänden zu bewerten. Zweitens wird ein flexibler, aber echtzeitfähiger Signalprozessor eingeführt, der auf einer software-programmierbaren Funkplattform läuft. Der Prozessor ermöglicht die Rekonfiguration wichtiger Parameter der physikalischen Schicht während der Laufzeit, um eine Vielzahl moderner Wellenformen zu erzeugen. Es werden vier Parametereinstellungen 'LLC', 'WiFi', 'eMBB' und 'IoT' vorgestellt, um die Anforderungen der verschiedenen drahtlosen Anwendungen widerzuspiegeln. Diese werden dann zur Evaluierung der die in dieser Arbeit vorgestellte Implementierung herangezogen. Drittens wird durch die Einführung einer generischen Testinfrastruktur die Einbeziehung externer Partner aus der Ferne ermöglicht. Das Testfeld kann hier für verschiedenste Experimente flexibel auf die Anforderungen drahtloser Technologien zugeschnitten werden. Mit Hilfe der Testinfrastruktur wird die Leistung des vorgestellten Transceivers hinsichtlich Latenz, erreichbarem Durchsatz und Paketfehlerraten bewertet. The goal is to identify promising candidate technologies among a vast number of new ideas and to decide, which are suitable for implementation in future products. However, the challenges to achieve those demands are beyond the capabilities a single processing layer in a wireless network can offer. Therefore, several research domains have to collaboratively exploit research ideas. This thesis presents a platform to provide a base for future applied research on wireless networks. Firstly, by giving an overview of state-of-the-art prototypes and testbed solutions. Secondly by introducing a flexible, yet real-time physical layer signal processor running on a software defined radio platform. The processor enables reconfiguring important parameters of the physical layer during run-time in order to create a multitude of modern waveforms. Thirdly, by introducing a generic test infrastructure, which can be tailored to prototype diverse wireless technology and which is remotely accessible in order to invite new ideas by third parties. Ionospheric response during low and high solar activity

We analyse solar extreme ultraviolet (EUV) irradiance observed by the Solar EUV Experiment (SEE) onboard the Thermosphere Ionosphere Mesosphere Energetics and Dynamics (TIMED) satellite, and solar proxies (the F10.7 index, and Mg-II index), and compare their variability with the one of the global mean Total Electron Content (GTEC). Cross-wavelet analysis confirms the joint 27 days periodicity in GTEC and solar proxies. We focus on a comparison for solar minimum (2007-2009) and maximum (2013-2015) and find significant differences in the correlation during low and high solar activity years. GTEC is delayed by approximately 1-2 days in comparison to solar proxies during both low and high solar activity at the 27 days solar rotation period. To investigate the dynamics of the delay process, Coupled Thermosphere Ionosphere Plasmasphere electrodynamics model simulations have been performed for low and high solar activity conditions. Preliminary results using cross correlation analysis show an ionospheric delay of 1 day in GTEC with respect to the F10.7 index during low and high solar activity. / Wir analysieren vom Solar Extreme Ultraviolet Experiment (SEE) an Bord des Thermosphere-Ionosphere-Mesosphere Energetics and Dynamics (TIMED) Satelliten gemessene solare EUV-Irradianzen, solare Proxies (den F10.7-Index und denMg-II-Index), und vergleichen deren Variabilität mit derjenigen des global gemittelten Gesamtelektronengehalts (GTEC). Wir vergleichen insbesondere den Zusammenhang während des solaren Minimums (2007- 2009) und Maximums (2013-2015), wobei signifikante Unterschiede der Korrelation zwischen solaren und ionosphärischen Parametern auftreten. Es tritt eine Verzögerung der Maxima und Minima von GTEC gegenüber denjenigen der solaren Proxies von einem Tag sowohl im solaren Minimum als auch im solaren Maximum auf.

Warhead penetration in concrete protective structures

The analysis of penetration of warheads in concrete protective structures is an important part of the study of weapon effects on protective structures. This type of analysis requires that the design load in the form of a warhead is determined, and its characteristic and performance within a protective structure is known. Constitutive equations for concrete subjected to weapon effects have been a major area of interest for a long time, and several material models for concrete behaviour are developed. However, it is not until recent years that it has been possible to use finite element (FE) analyses to simulate the behaviour of concrete targets during projectile penetration with acceptable results. The reason for this is a combination of several factors, e.g. development of suitable material models for concrete, enhancement of numerical methodology and affordable high capacity computer systems. Furthermore, warhead penetration has primary been of interest for the armed forces and military industry, with a large part of the conducted research being classified during considerable time. The theoretical bases for concrete material behaviour and modelling with respect to FE analyses of projectile penetration are treated in the thesis. The development of weapons and fortifications are briefly discussed in the thesis. Warheads may be delivered onto a protective structure by several means, e.g. artillery, missiles or aerial bombing, and two typical warhead types were used within the study. These warhead types were artillery shells and unitary penetration bombs for the use against hardened targets, with penetration data for the later warhead type almost non-existing in the literature. The penetration of warheads in concrete protective structures was therefore studied through a combination of experimental work, empirical penetration modelling and FE analyses to enhance the understanding of the penetration phenomenon. The experimental data was used for evaluation of empirical equations for concrete penetration and FE analyses of concrete penetration, and the use of these methods to predict warhead penetration in protective structures are discussed within the thesis. The use of high performance concrete increased the penetration resistance of concrete targets, and the formation of front and back face craters were prevented with the use of heavily reinforced normal strength concrete (NSC) for the targets. In addition, the penetration depths were reduced in the heavily reinforced NSC. The evaluated existing empirical penetration models did not predict the behaviour of the model scaled hardened buried target penetrators in concrete structures with acceptable accuracy. One of the empirical penetration models was modified to better describe the performance of these penetrators in concrete protective structures. The FE analyses of NSC gave reasonable results for all simulation cases, with the best results obtained for normal impact conditions of the penetrators. / Analyser avseende stridsdelars penetration i skyddskonstruktioner av betong viktigt för studier av vapenverkan mot skyddskonstruktioner. Konstitutiva modeller för betong utsatta för vapenverkan har varit av stort intresse under en lång tid och ett flertal materialmodeller har utvecklats. Det är emellertid först på senare år som det varit möjligt att använda finita element (FE) analyser for att simulera beteendet för betongmål vid projektilpenetration med acceptabla resultat. Anledningen till detta kan tillskrivas kombinationen av ett flertal faktorer, t ex utvecklingen av lämpliga materialmodeller, förbättringar av numerisk metodik och utvecklingen av kostnadseffektiva beräkningsdatorer. Penetration av stridsdelar har dessutom i huvudsak varit av intresse för militären och försvarsindustrin, vilket har resulterat i att en stor del av den bedrivna forskningen har varit hemligstämplad under lång tid. Grunderna avseende betongs materialbeteende och beskrivning av detta med avseende på FE-analyser av projektilpenetration behandlas i denna licentiatuppsats. Den fortifikatoriska utvecklingen och utvecklingen av vapen diskuteras kortfattad i uppsatsen. Ett flertal olika typer av stridsdelar är av intresse avseende verkan mot skyddskonstruktioner, t ex artillerigranater, missiler eller flygbomber. I denna studie beaktades två typiska stridsdelar, artillerigranater och penetrerande bomber. De senare är specifikt konstruerade för användande mot skyddskonstruktioner och företrädesvis mot betongkonstruktioner. Det visade sig dessutom att data avseende penetration i betong för denna typ av penetrerande stridsdelar i stort sett inte var publicerade. Penetration av stridsdelar i betong studerades därför med en kombination av experimentella metoder, empiriska penetrationsmodeller och FE-analyser för att öka förståelsen för problemställningen. De experimentella modellresultaten användes för att utvärdera både de empiriska penetrationsmodellerna och FE-analyserna avseende betongpenetration, med båda metodernas användande diskuterat i uppsatsen. Användandet av högpresterande betong ökade penetrationsmotståndet för betongmålen i jämförelse med standardbetongmålen. Det var även möjligt att förhindra kraterbildningen på fram- och baksidan av de kraftigt armerande standardbetongmålen, detta medförde även en reducerad penetration för projektilerna i målen. De existerande empiriska penetrationsmodellerna kunde inte förutsäga penetrationen av modellprojektilerna i betongmålen med godtagbara resultat. Istället vidareutvecklades en av dessa modeller för att bättre beskriva denna typ av penetrerande stridsdelar i skyddskonstruktioner av betong. Finita elementanalyserna av standardbetongmålen visade sig ge ett rimligt beteende för alla analyserade modeller, med de bästa resultaten erhållna för vinkelrätt anslag för de modellprojektilerna av de penetrerande stridsdelarna. / QC 20111116
