The current policy in New South Wales of referring to
its law enforcement body as Police without reference to the word
"force", is testimony to the re-emergence of the concept of community
policing.
This study deals with this phenomenon and the concept
of discretion, which allows police to take action according to
the dictates of a given situation rather than always act within
the strict letter of the law. While the power of discretion
should be used lawfully and ethically, political, legal and social
acceptance of such an approach allows a more flexible strategy
for coping with issues associated with deviant behaviour and
social injustice.
Therefore, the study present a holistic approach to
a curriculum for police recruits. It deals with the linking
of "reactive" and "proactive" policing strategies by means of
discretion and in so doing enhances the police officer's ability
to make a reasoned judgement in choosing between a number of
alternatives according to the dictates of the situation.
The proposed curriculum takes account of new policing
strategies, students' needs and career aspirations, modem
technology, effective teaching methods and the need for recruit
training to be attuned to dynamic changes in social needs and
demands.
The study also emphasises the need for further research
into the role of field training officers and the integration
of field training with academy education as a vital component
in the preparation of a police officer for the complex role ahead.

In the early twentieth century, Karl von Frisch performed seminal work on the organization of social behavior of honey bees. Much of his work involved training individual foragers to distant artificial feeders. Similar training methods have been used in research laboratories for the better part of a century, and these methods lend themselves well to advanced undergraduate biology classes in animal behavior. In recent years, students have used these methods in group projects to study color preference and time-memory. In this Technical Paper, we describe the basic steps of training honey bees to a distant feeder. We also provide alternative methods for answering specific types of questions that students in animal behavior classes might wish to address.

Consistency in Clinical Preceptor Field Training for Sonography StudentsDaniels, Cathy Herring 01 January 2016 (has links)
Consistency in clinical preceptor training for sonography students is important in assuring equity in sonography student evaluation. Review of a local community college sonography program revealed a gap between expected roles and responsibilities of clinical preceptorship and what was actually done in the clinical setting. The purpose of this project study was to explore perceptions of graduates and preceptors regarding what constituted best practices in the evaluation of sonography students in the clinical setting. Knowles's theory of active learning provided a framework for understanding the student-preceptor relationship in the evaluation process. Research questions focused on sonography graduates' and clinical preceptors' perceptions of important practices for ensuring consistency and equity in clinical evaluation. A case study design composed of face-to-face interviews with 5 graduates and 5 preceptors at the study community college was used to address the research questions. Sonography graduates were at least 2 years post-graduation; preceptors had at least 1 year with the program and at least 2 years of clinical experience. Interview data were transcribed verbatim and open coded to identify common themes. Four themes were identified: similar definitions of consistency in evaluation, importance of immediate feedback after skillls performance, potential favoritism in clinical evaluation, and the need to enforce program policies. Findings were used to design a clinical preceptor training workshop that could provide a better understanding of effective measures to attain consistency and equity in the evaluation process, fostering positive social change by helping prepare sonography students as competent practitioners to address health care needs locally and globally.

The aim of this diploma thesis is to create Geographic Information System (GIS) presentation of Jedovnice location. Created GIS presentation serve as a teaching tool for 2nd and 3rd year of Geodesy and Cartography field, Faculty of civil engineering, University of technology in Brno. Data processing was performed using Marushka Design program of Geovap group. Database entities management was processed in the SQLite Personal program. GIS presentation includes geodetic point field in specified location and tasks assignment for students. Designed system allows editing and managing of data already existed.

Abstract Title: 800 meters elite runner training analysis Objectives: The main goal of my thesis deals with pedagogical evaluation of 800 meters elite runner training process. It concerns analysis of teoretical background esential for the performance growth of the two annual macrocycles through 2007/2008 and 2008/2009. I mainly focused on the relationship between the volumes of general and specific training indicators and achieved performance indicator in tracked event. The conslusion of the work should provide us with recommendations for the training process improvement in future periods. Methods: The education analysis of training process is based on the values that were obtained by content analysis of training documents and training records of the coach. I used a percentage expression for a quantitative comparison. For the qualitative comparison I used a distribution of training indicators devided into 17 categories, 5 as indicators of general training and 12 as special indicators. Results: The growth of sports performance in 800 meters discipline was primarily achieved by training loads of special training indicators and focus on its main field. The resulting performance was most influenced by changes in speed and special endurance development, which were supported by the growth of tempo and...
