Užití autorského práva ve filmové produkci / The application of copyright in film production

David, Ivan January 2011 (has links)
The Application of Copyright in the Film Production (Abstract) This diploma thesis on a general basis describes and analyses the application of copyright in the film production. Because the copyright regulating the relationships coming from the process of production and exploitation of audiovisual work is the part of a broader group of norms comprised within the transbranchial "film law", this paper also indicates what other legal enactments - of civil law as well as of public law origin - have to be respected in the film production. The first part of the paper specify the basic terms and concepts which could be found in the film law as well as in the practical film production itself governed by this law. First of all, the paper defines the main areas of the film law, meaning copyright and its neighbouring rights, unfair competition law, media law, advertising law and protection of personality rights. Further on, it is specified what could be understood in legal theory by terms film, film work, audiovisual work, cinematographic work and underlying work. Next, the paper briefly explains the process of film production, its function, stages and forms, as well as the following process of the film distribution. Finally, this part of the paper defines and explains the main professions which are to be found within...

A experiência prática no diálogo entre a produção cinematográfica e a musical / The practical approach on the dialogue between the cinematographic and musical production

Nascimento, Anselmo Mancini do 18 November 2013 (has links)
This research aims at creating a reflection about the dialogue between the filmmaker and the composer through a conjuction of technical research and the real production. The technical research relates this theme by two point of views: recognizing what is the production structure of the current cinematographic scenario and how the professionals work in this area; and reflecting about the academic curriculum offered by the Music and Cinema courses, its results and possible defaults on the comunication between both means. In this field, the study intends to offer subsidies for a changing of concept of these areas. The practical production consists on soundtracks compositions for the undergraduates students works of the Audiovisual Department from Escola de Comunicações e Artes, Universidade de São Paulo - ECA/USP, called cines, and, specially, for the short movie Pé de Pera, by Gustavo Fattori, also USP audiovisual student. This short movie was selected by the Prêmio Estímulo de Curtametragens, and the process of its soundtrack production offered materials for the investigative proccess developed on this research. With this experiences and with the one obtained on the Programa de Aperfeiçoamento de Ensino (PAE), it was possible to raise some issues and to suggest some possible solutions. Moreover, complementing this study, it also was realized a research sponsored by the Santander Bank Scholarship of International Mobility within King\'s College London, obtaining a comparative model of another academic and commercial scenario.

Making "The Gray Area": Transitioning from Print Journalism to Documentary Filmmaking

Floyd, David C., Mr. 01 May 2017 (has links)
In my senior year at ETSU I produced a documentary about opioid abuse in East Tennessee. In 2016, two local health care providers and a university collaborated on a project that would bring an opioid treatment center to Gray, Tennessee. The center includes a methadone clinic, an addition that piqued the concern of many citizens living in Gray. The film evaluates the concerns citizens had about the clinic and explores the issue of opioid abuse in East Tennessee.

Family Anthology

Kagan, Danielle 01 January 2019 (has links)
This is a film about my father, who died in 2017. It deals with his ancestry, rooted in South African history, as well as the events before and after his family’s immigration to America in 1965. The purpose of the project was to investigate the past, as I have been disconnected from my family history due to exile, assimilation, tragedy and trauma. This lead to the discovery of undeniable patterns of love and loss, which I present in this film, yet do not completely understand. Content warning: discussion of suicide and car accidents.

Project Shanghai: An Experimental Short Film Commenting on Income Inequality in Shanghai

Dong, Jichen 01 January 2019 (has links)
Project Shanghai is an experimental short film that addresses the problem of wealth inequality in Shanghai and draws attention to the lives of the lower class. Since the economic reform launched in the last century that brought China unprecedented growth, Shanghai has developed into the financial hub of East Asia and the gateway to mainland China. However, it has also become a city where one can see the extremes of income inequality. Influenced by the Six-Generation Chinese directors and their persistent attention to the marginalized city dwellers, Project Shanghai attempts to advocate the basic human rights for the victims of income inequality. With visual storytelling that illustrates the intimate details, rich textures, and vivid human stories in the city corners below the iconic skyscrapers, the film also addresses other socio-economic problems including geographic disparity and gender inequality.
