Připravenost civilního obyvatelstva poskytnout první pomoc při vzniku mimořádné události / Awareness of civilian population to give first aid upon occurence of emergency event

ULBRICHOVÁ, Dagmar January 2011 (has links)
First aid represents the first and extremely important stage in the emergency medical procedure. The necessity to provide first aid may arise at any time as the current modern era poses numerous new risks which may cause many extraordinary events with consequences for individuals and groups of people or even for entire populations. Therefore the professional training of the population should stress first aid as it may reduce vulnerability and improve resistance of the population against extraordinary events, the number of which keeps growing. The objective of the thesis was to assess whether the civilian population is prepared to provide first aid in case of an extraordinary event. The research methods to meet the mentioned objective and to obtain the information necessary for results processing included a questionnaire and analytical examination. The questionnaire consisted of 15 previously prepared questions. The questions in the questionnaire were divided into four parts based on specific formulated objectives. The questionnaire survey was conducted in the South Bohemian region in the town of Tábor. The target group consisted of 250 respondents of both sexes, selected at random in four different age categories. The first group of respondents consisted of respondents aged 10- 20, the second category 20- 40, the third category 40- 60 and the last one consisted of respondents over 60 years of age. The preparedness of the population was examined at three levels, i.e. at the level of knowledge, level of emotions and experience level and the level of motivation. The formulated hypothesis: ?Civilian population is ready to provide first aid in agreement with applicable first aid standards? has been confirmed only partly at those three levels. The thesis also produced some secondary results concerning assessment of vulnerability and resistance of the population during the provision of first aid under extraordinary circumstances. One of the secondary outcomes was a finding that seniors seem to be by far most vulnerable and, on the contrary, the category aged 20- 40 seems to be the most resistant. Within the possibilities and scope of my thesis I have attempted to contribute to identification of important aspects that potentially influence the willingness of people to provide first aid and to highlight the importance of first aid training.

Zdravotní gramotnost začínajících učitelů / Health literacy of beginning teachers

Kříž, Daniel January 2015 (has links)
One of the areas concerning the medical literacy is the first aid giving. The aim of this diploma thesis is to answer the question whether the skills of beginning teachers concerning the first aid are on a sufficient level and whether the teachers are able to react adequately in emergency situations. The theoretical part describes the bases of these skills. It analyses the accident rate of children, professional training of teachers, new methods and projects how to increase the medical literacy of teachers. The practical part provides the results of a questionnaire survey analysing the first aid skills of beginning teachers. It observes whether the level of teachers is sufficient and whether they are able to react properly in health endangering situations. It also discusses the opinions of teachers concerning the first aid giving and the general vision of the first aid area in school environment. The conclusion of the survey shows that the teachers' first aid skills are not up to standard and that teachers assess the professional training concerning the first aid as insufficient. The thesis offers possible changes which would develop the skills of beginning teachers. Keywords health, health literacy, first aid, health care, beginning teacher

Žáková, Věra January 2012 (has links)
Topic: Level of knowledge and skills of first aid on primary school. Abstract: This thesis aims to examine and compare the first aid level of knowledge of pupils, focusing the 3th & 5th classes on primary schools in Prague, in a small town and in a village. The work is divided into two main parts, to the theoretical and practical one. The theoretical part consists of four chapters. The first chapter defines what first aid is and what its types are. The second charter covers emergency lines and basic components of the Integrated Rescue System. The third chapter maps the sources of information, where pupils at primary school can learn about first aid. The fourth chapter deals with the model emergency procedures in selected areas. In the introduction of practical part are research hypotheses and methods specified. The research itself was made by questionnaire. The chosen procedure was a first step to map the level of knowledge of first aid. When developing the questionnaire there were given situations in which children can actually occur and be the only savior at hand. Based on the information collected, the training program for this age category was set. After some time period, the effectiveness of training program was verified and the level of knowledge for pupils in Prague, in a small town and village was...

Traumatická poranění spojená s koňmi / Traumatic injuries resulting from human interactions with horses

Rázková, Ilona January 2019 (has links)
The present diploma thesis focuses on equine-related traumatic injuries. Such injuries occur due to a fall off the horseback and / or during handling or care for a horse. The primary reason for focusing on this specific type of injuries was an increasing incidence of equine- related injuries due to a growing interest in horse riding as a leisure and sports activity. The theoretical part is divided into several chapters devoted to types and mechanisms of equine-related traumatic injuries, injury prevention, and specific first aid after a fall off the horseback. Information sources for the thesis were identified in the Czech National Medical Library, with most information extracted from the MEDLINE database. Other sources included the Regional Medical Library, the library of the Institute of Agricultural Economics and Information, the regional library, and professional online resources. Methodology: The second part of the diploma thesis presents the results of a quantitative research and analysis of data extracted from medical records. The data were collected retrospectively for the years 2015 - 2017 in out-patient, standard in-patient and ICU units of a regional hospital. Objectives: To track incidence of equine-related traumatic injuries and analyse the major causes. Results: Over the three-year...

Finite element analysis and modeling of the anterior cruciate ligament in the human knee

Unknown Date (has links)
The Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) resists excessive anterior translation and internal rotation of the tibia during athletic activities and stabilizes the knee. In the US, annually, over 200,000 cases of ACL disruption are reported. The impact on the quality of life of the subject and its cost to healthcare is tremendous. The objectives of this study were to determine any significant associations between the size of the tibial eminence and ACL injury and to develop a finite element model for structural analysis. The results suggest that the size of the tibial eminence plays a role in loading the ACL and is therefore a risk factor. In addition to the epidemiological analysis, a finite element model of the knee was developed that with added modifications can be used for complex knee loading situations. The results in this thesis may be used to develop strategies for ACL injury prevention and rehabilitation. / Includes bibliography. / Thesis (M.S.)--Florida Atlantic University, 2014. / FAU Electronic Theses and Dissertations Collection

Troubles du comportement alimentaire : psychoéducation et prévention par internet / Eating disorders : mental health literacy and prevention through the Internet

Melioli, Tiffany 24 November 2015 (has links)
Study 1 – Aims: To evaluate the efficacy of Internet-based programs in decreasing eating disorder (ED) symptoms and to identify moderator variables of effects. Results: Compared to control conditions, Internet-based programs were successful in decreasing ED symptoms and risk factors with small to moderate between-group effect sizes. Moderator analyses revealed no impact of participant risk status on intervention effects. Study 2 – Aims: To evaluate an ED Internet-based prevention program efficacy (ProYouth) on decreases of disordered eating symptoms. Results: Among individuals having completed at least 4 monitoring assessments, time since registration was found to significantly predict decreases in binge eating (β = -.01, p < .001). Study 3 – Aims: To disseminate, through Internet, French guidelines for providing first aid to individuals suffering from ED symptoms and to explore the user characteristics and the perceived usefulness of the guidelines. Results: The guidelines were downloaded 1174 times and 312 participants have reported downloading the guidelines to increase their knowledge, or out of curiosity. Forty-two of the 50 users having completed the second questionnaire found the guidelines “useful” or “very useful.” Conclusion: The Internet might have great potential to prevent EDs among French college students. Promoting reliable information through the Internet could help to increase ED mental health literacy and would therefore be an important step towards improving access to ED treatment.
