An analysis of the systems requirements of the Africa Centre for Investment AnalysisVisser, Retief 12 1900 (has links)
Thesis (MBA)--Stellenbosch University, 2001. / ENGLISH ABSTRACT: The lack of easy access to consistent, timely and reliable information is
perceived to be one of the major barriers to investment on the African continent
and the aim of this study is to provide the Africa Centre for Investment Analysis
with a systems analysis, to enable it to populate their African Capital Markets
Database with sufficient data to address this issue.
The study aims to provide:
• Program expertise to facilitate the automation of share price data
capturing into a central database at the Centre
• Systems analysis expertise to develop the necessary systems to capture
and report the published company financial results of all listed
companies in the African stock markets (excluding South Africa's JSE)
• An evaluation of the existing products that ACIA offers, and an analysis
of the effectiveness of the existing product mix
• Recommendations on possible future changes and additions to the
product portfolio to increase ACIA's profile in the market place
• An analysis of the marketing environment that ACIA operates in, with
recommendations about different marketing strategies that should be
considered
During this study, conversion programs has been written in the Visual Basic
programming language to extract and update several years worth of share price
data for the following countries. • Namibia
• Swaziland
• Zimbabwe
• Botswana
• Zambia
• Nigeria
• Malawi
• Mauritius
Kenya
• Ghana
• Tunisia
• Egypt
A total of 90000+ data points were created via this conversion process.
It is envisaged that the data that has been loaded into the African Capital
Markets Database will become one of the best research resources on African
investment opportunities, and that the results of this study will have a wide
impact on the continent in terms of attracting foreign capital investments, when
researchers globally start to use this information.
investering in Afrika plaasvind.
begin ontgin.

我國企業投資大陸限制與財務報表管理之研究 / The research of the constraints about investment in China and financial statement management劉曼如 Unknown Date (has links)
With the tendency of global economic development and collaboration, it is necessary for our enterprises to transfer their operating center to China in order to promote competition and get more profit. According to the statistics by Investment Commission, the approve amount to invest in China from Taiwanese entrepreneurs in a year has increased from 0.174 billion in 1991 to 6.723 billion in 2002. In 2010, the amount is up to 14.617 billion. Mainland China has substituted for the US to become Taiwan’s major investment area. But the sensitive political issues between two sides of Taiwan Strait make Taiwan government establish many constraints, including the upper limit for investment in China, the technology and the capital market. To avoid the regulations of constraints and the “Taiwanese identity”, Taiwanese entrepreneurs use many legal and illegal ways to invest in China.
Because illegal events about investment in China emerged one after another incessantly, our government relaxed a part of the regulations in 2008. The most influence in the regulations of constraints is the upper limit for investment; it changed from 40% to 60%. Although the constraints have relaxed, the upper limit for investment still exists. For those enterprises with higher investment demand, there is still a possibility for them to use ways to enhance the investment amount, including earnings management.
The purpose of this research is to clarify the regulatory policy of Taiwan government toward investment in China, and the ways enterprises use to avoid the constraints. Besides, the main object of research is net worth which is calculated for the upper limit for investment. The empirical results demonstrate that enterprises whose investments are close to the upper limit are more likely to use earnings management to enhance the investment amount than enterprises whose investments are far away from the upper limit.

Previous issue date: 2006-08-02T00:00:00Z / This thesis consists on a study regarding the IT (Information Technology) investments effectiveness evaluation, conducted in the firm level, based on a model named MATIF – Firm-Level Model of Analysis of IT uses benefits. The proposition foundations lay on the consideration that economic inefficiencies are related and determinants to the effectiveness of the IT utilization at the firm-level. In order to analyze the inherent propositions, this work produced a field research with embedded multiple case method, conducted in the financial sector, with 3 banks, and considered as unit of analysis 8 of those IT applications projects, accessed at different implementation stages and different success levels. As a final result the study reach to the confirmation of the proposition witch associates the previous economic inefficiencies to the perception of IT investments effectiveness. This work has as the main contributions to the Academy the proposition of a plausible explanation of the effectiveness determinants in IT investments and a modeling tool for ex-ante evaluations, as well as indications for future research and developments in the area. It is also provided to the managerial practice the possibility of using the MATIF model, as long as it is added a guide for its practical utilization.
