Square Forms Factoring with SievesClinton W Bradford (10732485) 05 May 2021 (has links)
Square Form Factoring is an <i>O</i>(<i>N</i>1/4) factoring algorithm developed by D. Shanks using certain properties of quadratic forms. Central to the original algorithm is an iterative search for a square form. We propose a new subexponential-time algorithm called SQUFOF2, based on ideas of D. Shanks and R. de Vogelaire, which replaces the iterative search with a sieve, similar to the Quadratic Sieve.

Lyon : the development of archetypal urban forms : an investigation into the public realm of the ancient cityStewart-Sachs, Ann Gabriel January 2018 (has links)
The public realm of the ancient, Western city evolved situationally - over time and in response to the ethos of its citizens. Some of the urban forms that were born within the context of the ancient city are still in use today. These now archetypal forms met the specific needs of the ancient city, and as they were repeated, patterns arose that came to define what a physical city was. The physical form of the city and the citizen body were intrinsically linked in the ancient world - and in ancient Greece were defined by the same word - polis. In Rome, the city and the collective citizenry come to be defined separately - as urbs and civitas, respectively. The Romans continue to use and elaborate upon the urban forms and patterns developed in Greece, in support of the Roman civitas. The development of the public realm and its most archetypal forms, from the stoa to the public plaza, of a selection of ancient cities will be examined in three parts; Greece, Rome, and Roman colonies. Within these three representative examples, a tripartite examination of the myths, rituals, and development of the public realm will give a complete picture of the city - its form and its ethos. First, the Greek city will be discussed using the architectural development of the Athenian agora within its historical and political context. With an understanding of the Greek public realm, specific architectural advancements, including the stoa form, of the Greeks can be better understood. Second, the Roman elaboration of the Greek forms will be traced in the growth of the Forum Boarium in Rome. While situationally-developed, the archetypal urban forms that grew in Greece and Rome came to define urban patterns that could be used in new settings, like those of colonial settlements, while retaining the ethos of the original. From its first colony of Ostia to its exemplary Gallic capital of Lyon, Rome established a codified set of urban patterns that both represented and explained Roman urban values to its expanding populace. Finally, the Roman contributions, particularly the colony and fora patterns that evolved in Gaul, will be examined in detail using the colonial capital of Lyon as the primary example. As new socio-political systems evolved - the polis in Athens and the Empire in Rome - correlating urban forms developed in support of them. In the ancient city, the city and the public realm were the containers for ritual action - and the architecture that developed reflected this basic purpose of the city.

Didaktické formy ve výchově ke zdraví / Didactic Forms in Health EducationBečková, Andrea January 2022 (has links)
The thesis entitled "Didactic forms in health education" is divided into two parts. Theoretical and research. The first part - theoretical is devoted to basic terminology and the naming of froms and methods of teaching. The work touches on the history of health education. The second part is research specifically on what forms and methods of teaching are used by teachers in lessons and how specifically the subject is taught in terms of time at the second grade of primary schools. Last but not least, it focuses on the closer characterisation of teachers teaching the subject and their educational attainment and length of experience. KEYWORDS Didactic forms, health education, organizational forms, teaching methods

PHARMACOKINETIC STUDIES OF ADRIAMYCIN DELIVERED VIA MAGNETIC ALBUMIN MICROSPHERES AND OF IBUPROFEN IN SYNOVIAL FLUID (TARGET, PHYSIOLOGICAL, ANIMAL).GALLO, JAMES MICHAEL. January 1985 (has links)
Part I. Following a general historical review of the development of drug targeting, critical evaluations were made of current targeted drug delivery systems. Based on the results shown by previous studies, magnetic albumin microspheres containing adriamycin is one of the most promising targetable delivery systems for the treatment of solid tumors. It was also apparent that the pharmacokinetics of drugs associated with magnetic albumin microspheres had not been determined. A systematic study of the multiple variables involved in albumin microsphere preparation was completed to identify to what extent these variables affected the microsphere size distribution. The results of this investigation led to an optimal method of microsphere preparation. Information obtained from the above studies was applied to the production of magnetic albumin microspheres containing adriamycin suitable for in vivo use. The problems of separation and quantitation of adriamycin and adriamycinol in biological matrices were investigated using ion-pairing high pressure liquid chromatography. An optimized chromatographic system was presented for the analysis of these compounds in rat serum and tissues. The disposition of adriamycin following administration as magnetic albumin microspheres and as a solution was studied by monitoring adriamycin concentrations in multiple rat tissues for forty-eight hours after administration. The magnetic dosage form was targeted to a predefined tail segment with a magnetic field strength of 8000 G applied for 30 min after dosing. A physiological pharmacokinetic model was used to describe the disposition of adriamycin after both dosage forms. The model developed following adriamycin administration as a solution served as the foundation for the model for adriamycin when it was administered as the magnetic dosage form. Part II. The present investigation was designed to characterize the kinetics of ibuprofen in plasma and synovial fluid, which in the past, has been flawed by inadequate study protocols. After administration of a single dose and at steady-state, ibuprofen concentrations were measured simultaneously in plasma and synovial fluid obtained from eight patients with rheumatoid arthritis. The extent of accumulation of ibuprofen in each fluid was determined. The degree of ibuprofen protein binding in plasma and synovial fluid was also determined and related to its kinetic behavior.

All of a Sudden: The Role of Ἐξαίφνης in Plato's DialoguesCimakasky, Joseph J. 22 October 2016 (has links)
There are thirty-six appearances of the Greek word ἐξαίφνης in Plato’s dialogues. Usually translated as “all of a sudden” or “suddenly,” ἐξαίφνης emerges in several significant passages. For example, ἐξαίφνης appears three times in the “allegory of the cave” from Republic vii, and heralds the vision of the Beautiful in Symposium. Commonly translated in the Parmenides as “the instant,” ἐξαίφνης also surfaces in a crucial section of the dialogue’s training exercise. This dissertation demonstrates the connection obtaining between the thirty-six scattered appearances of ἐξαίφνης in order to reveal the role it plays in linking Plato’s theory of ideas with education. In short, it discloses how Plato’s step-by-step, methodical approach to philosophical education climaxes with a dynamic conversion experience signified by the appearance of ἐξαίφνης. / McAnulty College and Graduate School of Liberal Arts; / Philosophy / PhD; / Dissertation;

Forms of address in TshivendaMatloga, Eric Matladi 12 1900 (has links)
Thesis (MA)--University of Stellenbosch, 2002. / ENGLISH ABSTRACT: This study investigates the use of address form in Tshivenda. Chapter one concentrates
on aims of study, data collection and the organisation of study.
Chapter two concentrates on various studies which deal with forms of address in different
communities. They introduce forms of address as a routine between people who are
embedded in the socio-cultural context of society.
Chapter three deals with the informal use of forms of address. This includes names,
pronouns and kinship terms. Different names deal with Tshivenda names and Non-
Tshivenda names, and the way they are used in different context as a form of address.
The controversial use of a pronoun as a form of address is also taken into account as well
as kinship terms as a form of address in family where forms are applied in informal
situation. [Where the place is unstructured and they are applied in the traditional way.]
Chapter four investigates the formal use of address in a structured situation, this covers
titles, occupations, special address forms and innovations. Titles are used in a more
structured situation. They show social rank or official position such as Doctors, Professors
etc. Occupational terms are connected with a person's job. These are terms like nurses,
teachers etc. The special forms of address are used in certain occasions where the
sender uses an unpopular form of address, uses new techniques and they are practised
by elite class, who tries to change the status quo.
Chapter five gives the main conclusions of the thesis.
informele situasie.
