Artificial intelligence in radiography: Where are we now and what does the future hold?

Malamateniou, C., Knapp, K.M., Pergola, M., Woznitza, N., Hardy, Maryann L. 15 June 2023 (has links)
No / This paper will outline the status and basic principles of artificial intelligence (AI) in radiography along with some thoughts and suggestions on what the future might hold. While the authors are not always able to separate the current status from future developments in this field, given the speed of innovation in AI, every effort has been made to give a view to the present with projections to the future. AI is increasingly being integrated within radiography and radiographers will increasingly be working with AI based tools in the future. As new AI tools are developed it is essential that robust validation is undertaken in unseen data, supported by more prospective interdisciplinary research. A framework of stronger, more comprehensive approvals are recommended and the involvement of service users, including practitioners, patients and their carers in the design and implementation of AI tools is essential. Clearer accountability and medicolegal frameworks are required in cases of erroneous results from the use of AI-powered software and hardware. Clearer career pathways and role extension provision for healthcare practitioners, including radiographers, are required along with education in this field where AI will be central. With the current growth rate of AI tools it is expected that many of the applications in medical imaging will continue to develop to more accurate, less expensive and more readily available versions moving from the bench to the bedside. The hope is that, alongside efficiency and increased patient throughput, patient centred care and precision medicine will find their way in, so we will not only deliver a faster, safer, seamless clinical service but also one that will have the patients at its heart. AI is already reaching clinical practice in many forms and its presence will continue to increase over the short and long-term future. Radiographers must learn to work with AI, embracing it and maximising the positive outcomes from this new technology.

ANÁLISE DO PLANEJAMENTO ESTRATÉGICO DE UMA EMPRESA PRESTADORA DE REFEIÇÕES COLETIVAS: UM ESTUDO DE CASO EM PORTO ALEGRE-RS / ANALYSIS OF THE STRATEGICAL PLANNING OF ONE RENDERING COMPANY OF COLLECTIVE MEALS: A STUDY OF CASE IN PORT ALEGRE-RS

Prevedello, Marina Rejane 06 June 2006 (has links)
This work presents an analysis of the process of strategical planning, developed in a rendering company of collective meals of Porto Alegre/ RS, with the general objective to analyze the strategical planning of the company. To reach this objective, the following specific objectives had been established: (1) to study the models of strategical planning; (2) to describe and to analyze the model and the implementation of the used Strategical Planning for the studied company; (3) to present recommendations that optimize the effectiveness of the strategical planning. Had the company to be decentralized, the study it was carried through in one of its units, that he is pilot in this tool of management, inside of the Petrochemical Polar region of Triunfo/ RS. The work is structuralized in five chapters: introduction, bibliographical revision, methodology, analysis and final description of the model of used strategical planning for the company and conclusions and last commentaries. The research is characterized as a positive chain research; how much to the nature she is qualitative; how much the technique is exploration, documentary and descriptive, of a case study. The model of strategical planning, used in the unit, it was identified as being a model without alignment with processes in the organization changes, existing similarity in the bibliographical revision; but implemented with imperfections. The strategical planning did not have an initial landmark and comumente is confused with the strategical map. The objectives of the map do not possess clear goals. Some important factors had been evidenced as the main difficulties identified for the implementation of the planning: difficulty of understanding of the vision of the company and serious difficulty of communication: of the vision of future of the organization in the unit and it enters the sectors of the same one.

Learning while participating in public planning, and having fun : Testing a method of using focus groups and a vision of a sustainable future neighborhood, that ‘pushes the limits’

Anneborg, Anne-Maja January 2018 (has links)
We are facing the problems of climate change, the unfair share and over use of Earth’s resources. Global North overuses, Sweden has an ecological footprint of four planets. The challenge is to change our lifestyles. This thesis is trying out a method to diffuse ideas of sustainable development (SD) and for citizen participation. I created a future vision of a sustainable neighborhood inspired by Jane Jacobs and the concept of densification. This I presented to three homogenous focus groups: the next-door neighborhood, home owners and people in rentals. Free discussion then followed, and then a questionnaire. The findings where that the participants, fifteen of sixteen, thought the method gave them new ideas, allowed them to share their knowledge, and that it was a good method for participation. I thought that it was a ‘fun’ method. Focus groups research works more the way people normally interact, as did the literature show. I could see the learning process, that Patsy Healey describes, the creation of cultures, and also how the issue of SD was explored. It was time consuming to recruit participants. The tendency was that volunteers liked to talk, had an interest in planning, although not all in favor of SD. Many resembled me, in age and cultural background. The method could be useful to deepen dialog with citizens, especially in an early stage of planning. The vision should be ‘daring’ to spur good discussions, that may land in a compromise on SD.
