Počtová, Barbora January 2011 (has links)
Background: Pectus excavatum is the most common deformation of the chest, affecting mainly boys. The etiology is unclear. Objective: The aim of this study is to characterize the patients with pectus excavatum and clarify changes of posture after surgical correction by Nuss. Method: 19 patients (17.3 ± 1.9 years) with pectus excavatum chest deformity were tested a day before and 6 months after surgical correction of the chest according to Nuss. Testing included: clinical examination of range of motion in the shoulder and hip joint, range of motion of the spine Thomayer test, Shober and Stibor distances, as well as paraclinic test mCTSIB on Balance Master ® System and the questionnaire method by means of Pectus Excavatum Evaluation Questionnaire. Statistical significance was determined at 0.05. Results and Discussion: The results show that the correction of the chest has a significant influence on the evaluation of and satisfaction with appearance, increases range of motion of shoulder joints and spine, and positively affects postural stability and balance. Conclusion: A simple and non-invasive tests have shown that the effect of correction of the chest is not just a cosmetic nature and can be an incentive to continue to study this issue.

Kociánová, Anna January 2014 (has links)
Title: The Use of Physiotherapy in Spasticity Management Objectives: The purpose of this thesis is to provide a summary of present findings on spasticity, with particular regard to its pathophysiological mechanisms and clinical manifestations, and to present an overview of medical and physiotherapeutic approaches applied in its treatment. Furthermore, it aims at making a research in physiotherapeutic methods and techniques used for reduction of spasticity. The thesis shall present relevant studies, provide their comparison and critically evaluate the effect of methods and techniques examined in them. Methods: This thesis is a descriptive analysis based on a literature review. Results: Based on the research findings, it may be concluded that physiotherapy has proven to be effective in reducing spasticity. However, it is not possible to determine whether the techniques to reduce spasticity are more effective than techniques without this primary purpose. The examined studies have shown that the choice of physiotherapeutic practices to reduce spasticity was not influenced by disease etiology. Moreover, the same techniques and methods were applied in pediatric and adult patients, regardless of diagnosis. The relationship between reduced spasticity and change in motor function is unclear and our research...

Biologická zpětná vazba pro trénink stability u pacientů s degenerativním onemocněním mozečku / The use of biofeedback for stability training in patients with degenerative cerebellar disease

Stránská, Lenka January 2012 (has links)
The graduation thesis deals with the issue of balance disorders due to a cerebellar damage. It deals in detail with the treatment of patients suffering from degenerative cerebellar ataxia and with the use of biofeedback technologies as means of postural stability treatment. The aim of practical part of this work was to investigate the effectiveness of therapy using biofeedback for patients suffering from progressive ataxia due to cerebellar neurodegeneration. The research sample consisted of 8 patients. The patients underwent a total of 18 therapy sessions within a twelve-day rehabilitative program. The therapy contained a training of stability in various positions with the elimination of visual control. A device provided an additive information about head sways for the patients via a tongue electrotactile stimulation. The effects were assessed by means of posturography, functional clinical tests (BESTest, Dynamic Gait Index) and questionnaires (Activities-specific Balance Confidence Scale, Dizziness Handicap Inventory). Three assessments were performed: immediately before, immediately after, and 30 days after the rehabilitative program. A statistical analysis of the data showed significant improvement in all observed parameters. In addition, there was no loss of the benefits in the interval of 30...

Pešlová, Kateřina January 2012 (has links)
Title: Physical therapy procedures in patients following the operation of the anterior cruciate ligament Objectives: The main objective of this work is to determine the influence of the chosen method of reconstruction and subsequent physiotherapy on the final status of the patient. And also if the group physiotherapy is the ideal therapeutic approach. Methods: In quantitative research the numerical analysis of the data was performed. Comparison of individual groups was performed simply through finding the frequency distribution of individual characters. Evaluated were the basic sets A (patients operated on by Bone - Tendon - Bone method, BTB) and B (patients operated on by hamstring graft method, STG). Both sets were assessed using the input and the output kinesiological analysis. The resulting values of the variables in each category (individual examinations in the input and output kinesiological analysis) were compared with each other. The statistical significance of observed differences was tested using the x2 (chi square) test at the significance level of p < 0.05. Results: It was determined that the selected surgical method (BTB and STG) has an effect on certain parameters evaluated in the input rated kinesiological analysis. These parameters in the majority of examinations performed at the...

Sachová, Zuzana January 2017 (has links)
Title The use of methods FMS on athletes of category U16 - U19 Objectives: This thesis aims to point on the possibilities of a new method based on physio-therapeutic principles of physical preparation and training primarily of young athletes, named Functional movement screening (FMS), invented by Gray Cook. Most in particular the thesis is focused on what FMS method is and what possibilities are given to identify fundamental movement patterns of junior and teenager athletes. Short examination of the methods FMS was based on two tests invented by Gray Cook and evaluated on a group of ten athletes of category U16 - U19. Methods: The thesis comes out from two crucial works published by Gray Cook. Subsequently I resumed results found out in foreign articles and studies about methods FMS, its principles, relationship with athletic performance and prevention of injuries, as well as relevant norming data. My attention was devoted to studies focused on implementing FMS testing of young athletes. Therefore I decided to select two particular tests and conduct short testing on athletes of category U16 - U19. When scoring the quality of their movements, I've applied the criteria of the methodology itself first. Later there were extended by my own verbal evaluation of particular segments of tested movements. In...
