1	Non-Binary Identities: How Non-Binary People Move Through A Gendered World Kupper, Carly E 01 January 2021 (has links) The following study examines the experiences of non-binary people living in a society that emphasizes a gender binary, along with how being non-binary affects participants' views of the world and themselves. The study also looked to establish a working definition of "non-binary." I interviewed 17 participants who self-identified as non-binary regarding their lived experiences as non-binary people. Narratives were used to establish codes and themes. Adopting a narrative approach to the data, the study puts forth working definitions of non-binary and related terms, such as gender non-conforming, androgyny, and genderfluid. The study found that most participants saw themselves as breaking the norms by being non-binary and in other ways, including their sexuality and religion. Participants placed an emphasis on visibility, asserting that by being visible as non-binary they help society move away from strict binary constructs. Participants also described many adverse experiences associated with being non-binary, including being misgendered and safety concerns, which can impact non-binary people's mental health. 2	GIRLFAGS AND GUYDYKES - Too queer for straights, and too straight for queers Lindqvist, Siri January 2019 (has links) Aim. To highlight how girlfags and guydykes describe their identities and their experience and interpretation of the identity labels. Background and previous studies. The sexual minority identity of girlfags and guydykes are sometimes perceived as provocative in their contradictory labels. There is little to no previous research on the identities and what is known is mostly presented on internet blogs and forums. The identities seemingly involve aspects on sexual orientation, gender and sexual practice. Research related to sexual minorities, non-normative sex, LGBT and the risk of ill-health with identifying as a sexual minority is presented. Method. Semi-structured interviews in a method of choice was applied to this study so as to ease contact with a sexual minority group. Participants were sought through a Facebook © forum, with a total of eleven interviews with two guydykes and nine girlfags, through video call (2), phone call (1), in person (1), email (6), email with sound files (1). The data was analysed with content analysis. Results and analysis. The results were extensive and had to be delimited. The results were analysed in a sexual constructionist setting using the concept of the heterosexual matrix (Butler, 1990) and the concepts of gender/sex sexuality and nurturance and eroticism presented in van Anders’ (2015) Sexual Configurations Theory (SCT). Three main categories were presented; A play on gender, Sexuality and Orientation, and Identity. Conclusions. There is pride portrayed in the girlfag and guydykes identities. The identity breaks norms regarding gender and sexuality and even sexual orientation within an LGBT context. The results indicate that further research on transgender issues and relational and social aspects of the identities is needed. 3	”Man har liksom oändligt med möjligheter och det är väldigt befriande” : En studie om ickebinära transpersoners minoritetsglädje och positiva erfarenheter / ”One has like an infinate number of possibilities and that is very liberating” : A study of nonbinary transgender people´s minority joy and positive experiences Ekesbo, Josefin January 2023 (has links) Transpersoner i Sverige har en ökad risk för psykisk ohälsa, samtidigt som cirka hälften har god livskvalité. Då de positiva hälsofaktorerna för gruppen är underbeforskat, framför allt för ickebinära transpersoner, var studiens syfte att undersöka vilka positiva erfarenheter (minoritetglädje) ickebinära transpersoner har av att tillhöra minoritetsgruppen. En kvalitativ intervjustudie gjordes med åtta deltagare som sedan analyserades med tematisk analys. Det huvudsakliga resultatet visar att minoritetsglädjen främst utgörs av en stark gemenskap med andra transpersoner och att leva ett autentiskt liv i relation till sig själv och omgivningen. Även att utvecklas som person och att transtillhörigheten blir ett verktyg för att förstå världen och andra människor är viktiga fynd. Resultaten går i linje med tidigare forskning om positiva hälsofaktorer för gruppen.
