The discourses' role into scientific knowledge's construction : semiotics mediations of the scientific information, the case of epilepsy.Famy, Aurore 28 November 2018 (has links)
This PhD thesis is devoted to the study of discursivisation’s role of and semiotics founding principles in the scientific knowledge, all along the information transmission process: from the scientific research sphere to the layperson sphere, passing through medical body. The aim is to analyze the way the expert information is passing from a body to an another by mediation or remediation of discourses. By taking neurosciences research about epilepsy as an access key, this work wants to analyze discourses produced all along the semiotics mediations path, from a field study in an INSERM laboratory and the drawing up of in situ corpus groups (scientific articles, medical letters, doctor/patient consultation transcriptions, numeric autopathography, etc.). This study, in the perspective of opening semiotics to other humanities, is spurred on the willpower to reach an operational theorization, both anthroposemiotics and semiopragmatics, to study scientific discourses and equivalents: to anthroposemiotics of communication.

Squelettes algorithmiques asynchrones : application aux langages orientés domaine / Asynchronous algorithmic skeletons : application to domain specific languagesTran tan, Antoine 08 October 2015 (has links)
In this thesis, we present developments to the approach used by the LRI Parsys team to automatically translate MATLAB-like scientific codes into high performance production codes. To reach a high level of performance, we have combined C++ template meta-programming and asynchronous parallel programming to analyze each expression and detect parallelism opportunities first, and then to ensure near-optimal use of the available resources of multi-core machines. To link these two stages of the code generation process, we have implemented a solution based on multi-level algorithmic skeletons. We have implemented our tools in the NT2 library and evaluated them with several significant scientific benchmarks.

11 Abstract Title: The level of generic motor coordination with respect to game performance and biologi- cal maturation in junior categories of football players Purpose: To determine the level of generic motor coordination with respect different game per- formance and different pace of biological maturation in junior categories U14 and U15 of football players. At the same time, the purpose is to identify possible differences in the level of generic motor coordination between the players of AC Sparta Prague (U14, U15) and the selection of players from the top Belgian football academies (U14, U15). Methods: The research group consisted of 42 players from all game positions born in the years 2006 to 2008 from the football club AC Sparta Prague U14 and (U14 n = 16; age = 13,63 ± 0,6; body height = 165,44 ± 7,99 cm; body weight = 50,72 ± 8,49 kg) a U15 n = 26; age = 14,77 ± 0,38; body height = 172,1 ± 7,71 cm; body weight = 57,24 ± 9,15 kg). The level of generic motor coordination was assessed using a KTK motor test battery (Kiphard and Schilling, 2007). Game performance was evaluated using our own ques- tionnaires for coaches. The pace of biological maturation was evaluated using the indi- rect method of Kamis Roche. Coefficient Hedges' g was used to evaluate the signifi- cance of the differences in group...

Rail networks are prone to degradations of their railtrack that directly impact the commercial service. Therefore, maintenance policies are implemented in order to limit the loss of network quality and avaibility. This thesis proposes a generic modelling for these policies based on the reliability, using Bayesian Network (BN) formalism. The system reliability is captured by dedicated dynamic BN, allowing to take in account the sojorn-time in each system state (semi-markovian assumptiun). The diagnostic tools and the maintenance actions are also represented to accurately describe complex strategies. The consideration of the utility associated to each model ,attribute (availabiblity/security/cost) enables to evaluate innovative predictive maintenance policies. This methodology is applied to the RATP RER network to deal with the rail break prevention problem.

Termodynamická analýza procesů ve vodíkových palivových článcích. / Thermodynamic analysis of processes in Hydrogen fuel cells.Pavelka, Michal January 2015 (has links)
Non-equilibrium thermodynamics, which serves as a framework for formulating evolution equations of macroscopic and mesoscopic systems, is briefly reviewed and further developed in this work. For example, the relation between the General Equation for the Nonequilibrium Reversible- Irreversible Coupling (GENERIC) and (ir)reversibility is elucidated, and Onsager-Casimir reciprocal relations are shown to be an implication of GENERIC. Non-equilibrium thermodynamics is then applied to describe fuel cells and related devices, and theoretical conclusions are compared to experimental data. Moreover, a generalization of standard exergy analysis is developed bringing a new method for revealing a map of useful work losses in electricity producing devices. This method requires a non-equilibrium thermodynamic model, and so the general theory of non- equilibrium thermodynamics and optimization of real power generating devices stand side by side.

Generic Metadata Handling in Scientific Data Life CyclesGrunzke, Richard 12 April 2016 (has links)
Scientific data life cycles define how data is created, handled, accessed, and analyzed by users. Such data life cycles become increasingly sophisticated as the sciences they deal with become more and more demanding and complex with the coming advent of exascale data and computing. The overarching data life cycle management background includes multiple abstraction categories with data sources, data and metadata management, computing and workflow management, security, data sinks, and methods on how to enable utilization. Challenges in this context are manifold. One is to hide the complexity from the user and to enable seamlessness in using resources to usability and efficiency. Another one is to enable generic metadata management that is not restricted to one use case but can be adapted with limited effort to further ones.
Metadata management is essential to enable scientists to save time by avoiding the need for manually keeping track of data, meaning for example by its content and location. As the number of files grows into the millions, managing data without metadata becomes increasingly difficult. Thus, the solution is to employ metadata management to enable the organization of data based on information about it. Previously, use cases tended to only support highly specific or no metadata management at all. Now, a generic metadata management concept is available that can be used to efficiently integrate metadata capabilities with use cases.
The concept was implemented within the MoSGrid data life cycle that enables molecular simulations on distributed HPC-enabled data and computing infrastructures. The implementation enables easy-to-use and effective metadata management. Automated extraction, annotation, and indexing of metadata was designed, developed, integrated, and search capabilities provided via a seamless user interface. Further analysis runs can be directly started based on search results. A complete evaluation of the concept both in general and along the example implementation is presented. In conclusion, generic metadata management concept advances the state of the art in scientific date life cycle management.

Generic properties of extensionsSchnurr, Michael 10 December 2018 (has links)
Following the classical theory of Baire category results for sets of measure-preserving transformations, this work develops a theory for Baire category results for sets of measure-preserving extensions. First the case is considered where a measure space and a sub-algebra are fixed, and extensions are considered to be any measure-preserving transformations which leave this sub-algebra invariant. In the latter case, extensions of a fixed measure-preserving transformation are considered. In both cases, it is shown that the set of weakly mixing extensions form a dense, G-delta set

Flexible Integration of Molecular-Biological Annotation Data: The GenMapper ApproachDo, Hong-Hai, Rahm, Erhard 12 December 2018 (has links)
Molecular-biological annotation data is continuously being collected, curated and made accessible in numerous public data sources. Integration of this data is a major challenge in bioinformatics. We present the GenMapper system that physically integrates heterogeneous annotation data in a flexible way and supports large-scale analysis on the integrated data. It uses a generic data model to uniformly represent different kinds of annotations originating from different data sources. Existing associations between objects, which represent valuable biological knowledge, are explicitly utilized to drive data integration and combine annotation knowledge from different sources. To serve specific analysis needs, powerful operators are provided to derive tailored annotation views from the generic data representation. GenMapper is operational and has been successfully used for large-scale functional profiling of genes.
