The current green marketing industry is growing due to increasing consumer demand in combination with current environmental issues. Even so a common definition of the term green does not exist which creates both company and consumer confusion. Generally the expression is perceived by consumers to only describe environmentally friendly products but it is also further applied to different activities such as production, distribution and retailing. Due to the consumer lack of knowledge companies are having continuous difficulties satisfying the consumer’s changing needs and simultaneously protecting the environment. Companies are hoping to create awareness regarding environmental issues with the use of green marketing; however some companies are claiming to be green as a concealed marketing ploy, known as greenwashing.This study’s purpose aims to reveal and analyze whether there are gaps of knowledge in the topic green products and predominantly green cosmetics between Swedish green consumers and green companies. Lush Cosmetics has been chosen as a case company for this dissertations explorative kind and the empirical findings have been collected by a semi-structured interview with a product & people developer at the company. Answers from green consumers have been retrieved through focus group meetings with suitable respondents.Analysis of the empirical information was subsequently completed through the study’s theoretical framework to find what types of dissents exist between the two parts and why these have been generated. Results of the analysis showed that confusion as well as different opinions is present between the two parts. The knowledge gaps are prominent between the company and the consumers in the subjects of understanding marketing terms, price, ingredients and efficiency. / Program: Textilekonomutbildningen

<p>Traditional manufacturing industries develop the contradiction between human beings and the environment is becoming more and more serious. In order to solve this problem, the establishment of green supply chain management can to be a way, to introduce the idea of sustainable development in practice. The pollution from the car industry is a problem today, so developing green supply chain management is important. The purpose of this thesis is to establish green supply chain management supplier evaluation index system by taking BYD as an example. In this thesis, we study the problem by using primary and secondary data, by combining the reality with the theories. First, we introduce the principle and basic situation of green supply chain management in China now, then we analyze the aspects that green supply chain management should include in BYD. We propose a plan for the improvement of green supply chain management in BYD and construct the GSCM performance index system. Eventually we proformce a plan for the establishment of green supply chain management in BYD.</p>

Degradation of perchloroethylene and nitrate by high-activity modified green rusts

Green rusts (GRs), a group of layered Fe(II)-Fe(III) hydroxide salts, have been observed to be effective reductants for degrading organic and inorganic contaminants under suboxic conditions. Furthermore, the addition of a transition metal to GRs can produce high-activity modified green rusts (HMGRs) that demonstrate higher degradation rates. Methods of modifying GRs to obtain high reactivity for degradation of PCE and nitrate were developed and reduction kinetics of PCE and nitrate by HMGRs were characterized in this study. First, the most promising HMGRs were developed through screening tests. GRs modified with Pt, Cu, Ag, or Pb were found to be effective in improving degradation rates of PCE. GR-F(Pt) and GR-F(Cu) were chosen because they showed high reactivity and produced non-chlorinated by-products. Pt and Cu showed the capability of improving reduction kinetics of nitrate by GRs. GR-F(Pt) and GR-F(Cu) were selected for further study. Second, degradation of PCE by GR-F(Cu) and GR-F(Pt) was characterized using a batch reactor system. The reaction kinetics of PCE degradation by GR-F(Cu) and GR-F(Pt) was strongly dependent on pH over the range of pH 7.5-11, with the fastest rate at pH 11. Increasing concentrations of Cu(II) over the range of 0 to 5 mM resulted in improving the reduction kinetics by a factor of more than 400, although the rate at 7.5 mM of Cu(II) was unexpectedly lower than that at 5 mM. Surface saturation behavior was observed in the rates of dechlorination of PCE by GR-F(Cu). Finally, nitrate reduction by GR-F(Cu) and GR-F(Pt) was further studied to determine the effects on degradation rates of pH, Cu(II) addition, and initial nitrate concentration. A reaction model with four sequential steps was proposed to describe the process of nitrate being reduced to ammonium and GR being oxidized to magnetite. The reaction rates of nitrate reduction by GR-F(Cu) and GR-F(Pt) was highest at pH 9. The reaction rates of GR-NO3 were improved by three orders of magnitude when Cu(II) was added in the range of 0 to 2.5 mM, while reaction rate decreased at concentrations above 2.5 mM. Saturation behavior was also observed in nitrate reduction by GR-F(Cu).

The Effects of Green Tea on Salivary Production and Viscosity, and on Quality of Life in Patients with Sjögren’s Syndrome: A Pilot Study

Several beneficial effects of green tea polyphenols (GTPs) have been shown in both in vitro and animal studies. This pilot study tested their effects on relief of dry mouth and quality of life (QoL) in Sjögren’s syndrome (SS) patients. After one month of green tea consumption in 18 SS patients, and three months in 7 patients, there was an improvement in the patients’ oral health and QoL. In addition there was an increase in the unstimulated salivary flow rate and a decrease in the viscosity of stimulated saliva, although not statistically significant. Furthermore, 83% of the patients reported that they would continue to drink green tea. Although the mechanism of action of the GTPs is unknown in this patient population, we have shown that regular green tea consumption by SS patients is a simple yet effective and enjoyable means of dry mouth relief.

Title: Implementation of Green Marketing Strategy inChina - A Study of the Green Food Industry Research Aim: Our research aim is to explore factors which influence Chinese consumers’ behavior, analyze marketing strategies of company we interviewed according to four Ps of conventional marketing mix, and finally put forward our own opinions about how green food companies use four Ps of conventional marketing mix to implement green marketing strategy in green food industry in China. Methodology: This thesis studies green marketing of green food industry inChina from two aspects, consumers and company we interviewed by conducting a mixed methods research. Quantitative and qualitative data are simultaneously from consumers and company though questionnaires and interviews survey respectively. Conclusion: Based on the analysis on Chinese consumers and the empirical materials collected from our interview with a green food company we draw some implications on how to implement green marketing strategy in the industry of green food inChina. As the factors which influence Chinese consumers’ behavior and characteristics between green agricultural products and green processed food are different, green marketing strategies of the two kinds of products should be implemented by different ways.
