Att stå på en tröskel i framkant : Sjuksköterskors erfarenheter av digitala vårdmöten på vårdcentral / To stand on a threshold at the forefront : Nurses' experiences of digital care encounters within Health Centres, at the Primary Healthcare

Karlsson, Malin, Ulldal, Kristina January 2021 (has links)
Background: In the spring of 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic changed the way primary healthcare was performed. Digital encounters increased in order to protect patients in risk groupsand reduce the spread of infection in society. For nurses, this was a new way of working that had not previously been practiced in primary health care. Närhälsan's application Närhälsan Online was launched a few years earlier but was at that point mainly focused on medical encounters with doctors. In the spring of 2021, Närhälsan Online was introduced at all health centers.  Aim: The aim of the study was to describe nurses' experiences of digital care encounters via Närhälsan Online.  Method: Semi-structured interviews with 10 nurses were conducted. A qualitative content analysis was applied to analyze the interviews.  Results: The results show that the nurses appreciated digital care encounters and saw opportunities to influence their work environment in a way that had not previously been possible. The nurses also saw an opportunity to gain increased insight into the patient's life when theencounters moved from the healthcare center to the home or workplace of the patient. The encounters became more efficient, and the patients could save both time and money. More patients also showed up to the scheduled encounters when they took place digitally. Difficultiesthat appeared was that few patients booked themselves for visits and that there were language and technical obstacles that affected the encounters.  Conclusion: The results show that digital care meetings are a good complement to physical meetings at the health center. The physical meeting must always be a possibility but giving patients the opportunity to meet digitally has opened new ways of providing care. Furthermore, an increased amount of patient’s attend digital meetings thus receiving care.

Tan, Vicki 02 1900 (has links)
Many newly graduated nurses (NGNs) begin their professional career with the support of a transition program offered by their hospital center that aims to facilitate their professional integration. However, few programs seem to include the nurse manager’s participation directly in carrying out its onboarding activities. To date, no study seems to have explored the relevance of including the nurse manager in the activities of a transition program. This study aimed to explore the perceptions of NGNs in relation to the participation of nurse managers in a transition program and its perceived contributions on their professional integration. A qualitative descriptive study was conducted using individual semi-structured interviews with seven participants working in a university healthcare centre in Montreal. Content analysis was the method chosen to analyze the data collected. According to the perceptions of NGNs, dedicated group discussion periods with their nurse manager in a transition program contributed to the creation of a supportive and safe atmosphere, identification of a designated space for communication, relationship building with their manager and improvement of the work environment. The results suggest that these group dedicated discussion periods between NGNs and their nurse manager are an appreciated and anticipated activity by INDs, that tends to facilitate their professional integration. These results invite nurse managers to be more involved during the transition experience of INDs by initiating discussion periods with NGNs to understand how to better support them and facilitate their professional integration.
