gevolgtrekking gekom dot die belangrike rol van die eie ouer in die
hersoomgestelde gesin grootliks misgekyk word. Die verbondenheid van die eie
ouer aan beide die ouer-kind- en die nuwe egpoorsisteme mack ditvir hom/hoar
moontlik om 'n sleutelrol te vervul tydens gesinsinteroksies, eenheidsvorming en
die opvoedingsgebeure in die hersoamgestelde gesin. Dit is moontlik vir die eie
ouer om vanuit 'n unieke posisie as 'n buffer te dien in die problemotiese
stiefouer-stiefkindverhoudinge. Hierdie maontlikheid bestaon egter slegs indien
die eie ouer oor voldoende kennis, insig en voardighede beskik.
'n Uitgebreide kwalitatiewe ondersoek aan die hand van semi-gestruktureerde
onderhoude met die lede van ses hersaamgestelde gesinne het die volgende
tendense aan die lig gebring:
• Eie overs verwag van nuwe egliede om kinders in die hersaamgestelde
gesin uit die staanspoor te aanvoor en lief te he.
• Eie overs koester konflikterende gevoelens ten opsigte van die
dissiplinering van hul kinders deur die stiefouer.
• Eie ouers, sfiefouers en kinders in hersaamgestelde gesinne goon dikwels
gebuk onder d\e los van onverwerkte gevoelens van verdriet en verlies.
• Die hantering van finansies ten opsigte van inwonende eie en stiefkinders,
asook nie-inwonende kinders en vorige egliede skep spanning en
bemoeilik goeie verhoudinge.
• Eie ouers is dikwels so verdeeld tussen die belange van nul kinders en die
van hul nuwe moats dot hulle dit moeilik vind om in 'n tweede huwelik 'n
betekenisvolle verhouding met hul nuwe lewensmaat op te bou.
Genoemde tendense het 'n bepolende rol gespeel in die ontwikkeling von 'n
begeleidingsprogram vir eie ouers. Agt sessies met doelwitte geboseer op hierdie
probleemoreas is gestruktureer om die eie ouer met noodsaaklike kennis en
vaardighede toe te rus ten opsigte van harmoniese verhoudingstigting en
-onderhouding in hersaamgesfelde gesinne. Die begeleidingsprogram is deur
middel van 'n fokusgroeponderhoud aan die evaluering von vier ouerpare in
hersaamgestelde gesinne onde&Werp en is aon die hand van hul aanbevelings
verfyn en gefinaliseer.

Die benutting van veerkrag deur middel-adolessente in ’n hersaamgestelde gesinEbersohn, Suzette 28 April 2012 (has links)
Divorce is a potentially destructive reality in society. According to the bio-ecological model of Bronfenbrenner, the development of the child takes place within two micro family systems when a family is reconstituted following divorce: the primary micro family system, where the child resides permanently with his/her biological parent who has parental rights and responsibilities, as well as the secondary micro family system of the other biological parent who also has parental rights and responsibilities, where the child visits periodically. Challenges that the child faces in the context of the reconstituted family thus include shared membership of the two micro family systems and the complexity of the mesosystem. Resilience can be defined as a process of the inborn ability to achieve positive outcomes and to adjust successfully despite challenges and adverse living conditions. The purpose of the study was twofold: firstly, to achieve understanding of the way in which middle-adolescents of divorced parents, in moving between the two micro family systems of their reconstituted families, utilise their resilience to develop optimally in spite of a probably dysfunctional relationship between their biological parents at the mesosystemic level and secondly, to contribute to the fields of knowledge on resilience and bio-ecological theory in order to enhance educational psychology praxis with regard to the adaptation of adolescents of divorced parents in reconstituted families. The study was qualitative, and conducted in the interpretive paradigm. A multiple case study with a purposeful sampling of four participants was used. Unstructured narrative conversations were conducted, which included a resilience-based therapeutic intervention to facilitate sensitisation regarding personal strengths and assets in accordance with the assetbased approach. The format of the data description and analysis was defined by the narrative way of working. The participants’ utilisation of resilience qualities was evaluated in accordance with a definition of resilience which had been newly constructed by means of a synthesis of the bio-ecological model, positive psychology and the focuses of the first three waves of resilience research. The findings of the study indicated that the way in which middle-adolescents utilise their resilience depends on a therapeutic process (a personal, controlled process) as well as the nature of the mesosystem in their developmental context (a factor that can only be controlled by the divorced biological parents). In respect of a therapeutic process, the utilisation of the middle-adolescents’ resilience depends on their emotional security to make conscious choices to mobilise their resilience and consequently change their behaviour in order to cope effectively with difficult family circumstances in both their micro-family systems. In respect of the nature of the mesosystem, the utilisation of the middle-adolescents’ resilience depends on the effectiveness of the relationship between their divorced biological parents at the mesosystemic level. The aim of this study is to explore and describe children’s experiences of the repositioning of their psychological birth order in a reconstituted family. The aim of this study is also to contribute to a better understanding of this phenomenon to aid the parents of these children as well as professionals working with such families.
The systems theory was used as the meta-theory of this study. Gestalt field theory formed the connection between the systems theory and Adlerian theory, to portray the interaction between the individual and the different subsystems of which they are part, and formed the lens through which the study was done. Adlerian theory was used to explain the subsystems function in the micro system, with the focus on children’s experiences of the repositioning of their birth order in a reconstituted family.
A qualitative research method with Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis was used as research design. Eight children took part in this study. The researcher used semi-structured interviews to explore their experiences of the repositioning of their psychological birth order and the data was analysed thematically. The researcher had a discussion with the participants’ parents to determine the children’s psychological birth order and to obtain background information regarding the original and reconstituted families.
The findings indicated that children’s experiences in relation to their parents and siblings had the most profound effect on how they experienced the repositioning of their psychological birth order in a reconstituted family. It seemed that participants preferred their parents treating them congruent to their psychological birth order within the reconstituted family and they experienced incongruent treatment to their psychological birth order, as negative. Participants enjoyed being favoured by their parents. If the sibling who caused the repositioning was favoured, or his or her parents unfairly blamed the relevant participant, it contributed to tension in the sibling and child-parent relationships. Participants seemed to associate less time spent with parents as well as less attention from parents with step- and half-siblings in the reconstituted family. Participants expressed less responsibility in the reconstituted family as a favourable aspect and more responsibilities in the reconstituted family as a unfavourable aspect of being repositioned.
In the participants’ experiences, which related to their siblings, the children seemed to defend their psychological positions in their renegotiation for new positions and roles in the reconstituted family often resulting in power struggles and sibling rivalry. Age and gender differences played a role in this process. When participants were ineffective in their negotiation of a new position within the new sibling subsystem, feelings of isolation were reported. Participants experienced frustration when they were unsuccessful in their negotiations regarding former roles associated with their psychological birth order in the new family system. Participants expressed companionship with a step- or half-sibling of the same gender as a favourable experience in their repositioning. The aim of the study was to examine and describe how divorced biological fathers in reconstituted families give form to the educational relationship with their non-resident young children, to achieve an understanding of fathers’ perceptions of their parental roles as well as the functionality of the relationship in practice. A multiple case study using semi-structured interviews was conducted. A meta-analysis of the emergent themes indicated that the field within which understanding of the phenomenon should be constructed, ranges beyond the context of the fathers reconstituted families who participated in the study. The literature review confirmed that the relationship between former marriage partners plays an important part in fathers’ ongoing relationship with their non-resident child/ren. Findings: • The interaction in the mesosystem between the primary and secondary micro family systems of the two parents with and without custody influences the way in which the biological fathers endeavour to establish/maintain a relationship with their non-resident child/ren. adolessente in hersaamgestelde gesinne ervaar. Die nominale
groepstegniek is gebruik ten einde probleme/behoeftes te verfyn.
Dit het uitgewys dat probleme in hersaamgestelde gesinne
voortspruitend is uit kommunikasieprobleme. Die groepwerkproram
met stiefadolessente is dus daarvolgen opgestel.
Psigodrama word beskou as die mees ideale benadering in groepwerk
met adolessente. Twee meetskale is gebruik, te wete 'n
kommunikasievraelys en die Hudson-indeks wat gewysig is vanaf ouerlike verhoudings na stiefouerlike verhoudings.
'n Voorondersoek groep is met vyf stiefadolessente oor vyf
byeenkomste en 'n eksperimentele groep met tien stiefadolessente
oor tien byeenkomste aangebied. Voor- en nameting is gedoen. Op
beide meetskale is groei in vaardighede gemeet en is die navorser
se doelstelling bereik / Divorces and remarriages are increasing. The literature study and
practical experience of the researcher, has shown that the

questionnaire and the Hudson-index which was modified from parentchild
relationships to step-parental relationships. A pilot study group with five step-adolescents over five meetings

before and after the group meetings. Both measuring instruments
recorded growth in skills and the researcher's objective was

verfyn en gefinaliseer. / In this research study the reconstituted family is investigated as a complex alternative family structure with distinctive structural characteristics, problem areas and rituals which cannot be adopted from the norm of the nuclear family. In the literature survey these aspects are examined closely and the conclusion is drawn
that the important role of the biological parent in the reconstituted family is ignored to a large extent. The biological parent's commitment to both the parent-child and new couple systems allows him/her to play a key role in family interactions, unit formation and educational events in the reconstituted family. It is possible for the biological parent to act as a buffer in the problematic stepparent-stepchild relationships from a unique perspective. However, this possibility only exists if the biological parent possesses sufficient knowledge, insight and skills. An extensive qualitative investigation on the basis of semi-structured interviews with members of six reconstituted families revealed the following tendencies:
Biological parents expect their new spouses to accept and love children in the reconstituted family from the onset.
Biological parents harbour conflicting feelings regarding the disciplining of children by the stepparent.
Biological parents, stepparents and children in reconstituted families often still carry the burden of unresolved feelings of sadness and loss. The handling of finances with regard to resident own and stepchildren, as
well as non-resident children and former spouses creates tension and compromises good relationships. Biological parents are often so divided between the interests of their own children and those of their new spouses that they find it difficult to build a meaningful relationship with their new spouse in a second marriage.
The tendencies mentioned played a decisive role in the development of a guidance programme for biological parents. Eight sessions with aims based on these problem areas were structured to equip biological parents with the necessary knowledge and skills in respect of the development and maintenance of
harmonious relationships in reconstituted families. The guidance programme was subjected to the evaluation of four sets of parents in reconstituted families by means of a focus group interview and was refined and finalised on the basis of their recommendations. / Educational Studies / D. 'n Uitgebreide kwalitatiewe ondersoek aan die hand van semi-gestruktureerde onderhoude met die lede van ses hersaamgestelde gesinne het die volgende tendense aan die lig gebring
Eie ouers verwag van nuwe egliede om kinders in die hersaamgestelde
gesin uit die staanspoor te aanvaar en lief te he. Eie ouers koester konflikterende gevoelens ten opsigte van die dissiplinering van hul kinders deur die stiefouer. Eie ouers, stiefouers en kinders in hersaamgestelde gesinne gaan dikwels gebuk onder die las van onverwerkte gevoelens van verdriet en verlies. Die hantering van finansies ten opsigte van inwonende eie en stiefkinders, asook nie-inwonende kinders en vorige egliede skep spanning en bemoeilik goeie verhoudinge. Eie ouers is dikwels so verdeeld tussen die belange van hul kinders en die van hul nuwe maats dat hulle dit moeilik vind om in 'n tweede huwelik 'n betekenisvolle verhouding met hul nuwe lewensmaat op te bou.
Genoemde tendense het 'n bepalende rol gespeel in die ontwikkeling van 'n
begeleidingsprogram vir eie ouers. Agt sessies met doelwitte gebaseer op hierdie
probleemareas is gestruktureer om die eie ouer met noodsaaklike kennis en
vaardighede toe te rus ten opsigte van harmoniese verhoudingstigting en
-onderhouding in hersaamgestelde gesinne. Die begeleidingsprogram is deur
middel van 'n fokusgroeponderhoud aan die evaluering van vier ouerpare in
hersaamgestelde gesinne onderwerp en is aan die hand van hul aanbevelings
verfyn en gefinaliseer. / In this research study the reconstituted family is investigated as a complex alternative family structure with distinctive structural characteristics, problem areas and rituals which cannot be adopted from the norm of the nuclear family. In the literature survey these aspects are examined closely and the conclusion is drawn
that the important role of the biological parent in the reconstituted family is ignored to a large extent. The biological parent's commitment to both the parent-child and new couple systems allows him/her to play a key role in family interactions, unit formation and educational events in the reconstituted family. It is possible for the biological parent to act as a buffer in the problematic stepparent-stepchild relationships from a unique perspective. However, this possibility only exists if the biological parent possesses sufficient knowledge, insight and skills. An extensive qualitative investigation on the basis of semi-structured interviews with members of six reconstituted families revealed the following tendencies:
Biological parents expect their new spouses to accept and love children in the reconstituted family from the onset.
Biological parents harbour conflicting feelings regarding the disciplining of children by the stepparent.
Biological parents, stepparents and children in reconstituted families often still carry the burden of unresolved feelings of sadness and loss. The handling of finances with regard to resident own and stepchildren, as
well as non-resident children and former spouses creates tension and compromises good relationships. Biological parents are often so divided between the interests of their own children and those of their new spouses that they find it difficult to build a meaningful relationship with their new spouse in a second marriage.
The tendencies mentioned played a decisive role in the development of a guidance programme for biological parents. Eight sessions with aims based on these problem areas were structured to equip biological parents with the necessary knowledge and skills in respect of the development and maintenance of
harmonious relationships in reconstituted families. The guidance programme was subjected to the evaluation of four sets of parents in reconstituted families by means of a focus group interview and was refined and finalised on the basis of their recommendations. / Educational Studies / D.
