This study had a twofold purpose. The first was to determine the extent to which the drama curricula in Texas public high schools have changed since the Texas Education Agency certification change of 1966; and the second was to reveal the position of administrators regarding a preference of teaching fields as background for a prospective teacher of drama.

Since so many aids are available to help the teacher in the actual process of writing, this study will concentrate on the various ways in which other benefits, such as heightened awareness, educated imagination, increased self-esteem, and improved critical judgment, can be integrated into a composition class for accelerated students.

For several years the author has considered the problem of commercial art instruction in high school. As a graduate art major, high-school art teacher, and free-lance artist in the advertising art field, it has been his opportunity to investigate and evaluate a program which offers more specialized training in commercial art than is now being offered in most of the secondary schools.

This study identified and compared the perceptions of department chairpersons and their principals about what responsibilities should be assigned to chairpersons, what responsibilities are currently assigned to chairpersons, and the chairperson' perceived need for any additional training, administrative support, departmental support, or released time in order to fulfill responsibilities currently assigned. Principals and chairpersons from 132 of the 264 5-A public high schools in Texas were surveyed by means of a 61- item questionnaire. The questionnaire included responsibilities in ten areas: planning, evaluation, budgeting, personnel, curriculum and instruction, communications, scheduling, clerical activities, supervision, and advising. Chairpersons from English, Foreign Languages, Mathematics, Physical Education, Science, and Social Studies were included in the study. Data collected in the study were keypunched and computer-processed, generating frequencies, percentages, means, and appropriate chi-square tests of independence, and probability factors for determining significance. The following conclusions were drawn from the study. 1. There is substantial agreement between Texas principals and chairpersons about responsibilities that should and should not be assigned to chairpersons in the areas of planning, budgeting, communications, and advising. 2. There is moderate to substantial disagreement . between Texas principals and chairpersons about responsibilities that should and should not be assigned in the areas of evaluation, personnel, curriculum and instruction, and scheduling. 3. There is a general difference perceived by chairpersons in the study between what they think they should be doing as chairpersons and what they are currently assigned to do. 4. There is general agreement among chairpersons from different disciplines about responsibilities that should and should not be assigned to chairpersons in the areas of planning, budgeting, personnel, and advising. 5. Texas chairpersons perceive a greater need for administrative and departmental support than for additional training. 6. Texas department chairpersons perceive responsibilities in the area of evaluation as those for which they need the highest levels of support.

Information on the density of hydrocarbons at high pressures and temperatures is of great importance in many fields, such as the study of ultra-deep reservoirs up to ~240 MPa and 250°C. However, density data at such high pressures and temperatures are often not available in the literature. In this study, experimental densities are reported for n-pentane, n-octane, 2,2,4-trimethylpentane, cyclooctane, n-decane, and toluene to ~280 MPa and ~250°C. These experimental densities are in good agreement with available literature data, although the literature data for many of these fluids do not extend to the pressures and temperatures utilized in this study.

M. Ed. / Aggression in schools has become the order of the day as incidents of learners stabbing, bullying and killing each other are reported. Parents, educators, learners, the Department of Education, the Department of Correctional Services and the Department of Social Science are concerned about the escalation of aggression in secondary schools. Current research on learners‟ experience of other learners‟ aggression in a secondary school has identified it as a major concern as it interferes with normal schooling. Aggression begets aggression. One of the goals of this research study was to provide guidelines for learners to manage aggression in a constructive manner. The participants in this research study were learners between the age of sixteen years and eighteen years in a secondary school in the Ekurhuleni area. The researcher‟s objectives were as follows: to explore and describe learners‟ experience of other learner‟s aggression in a secondary school; and to describe guidelines for the learners which will assist learners in dealing with learner aggression. The qualitative research approach helps the researcher to understand and interpret the learners‟ aggression. Phenomenological interviews were conducted and naïve sketches were written. The data was analysed by means of open coding. The major themes are set out below. 1. Learners experience other learners‟ aggression as being out of control. 2. Learners experience that cultural differences contribute to other learners‟ aggression. 3. Learners experience inadequate supervision and support of educators. 4. Learners experience other aggressive learners to be challenged in their lives. 5. From the interviews conducted; guidelines were made in line with the findings, to assist learners in dealing with learners‟ aggression.

In order to introduce learning cases with real-world contexts to the Computer Science students in their early stage of learning, a set of Web applications that utilize Web services are simplified and customized to demonstrate the core concept of high-level test-driven learning methodology. Four e-commerce Web applications were implemented for this project. These applications show how real-world Web services work and interact with each other. By systematically planting a number of errors into the services, we created a learning environment for the students to understand the system structure and basic programming through their critical thinking. A goal is to keep students' interest in computer science. In doing so, a set of features that help students observe the systems' behavior are designed, and collectively formed a pattern of user interface "the Learner's Corner."
