Work Engagement and Turnover Intentions: Correlates and Customer Orientation as a ModeratorBabakus, Emin, Yavas, Ugur, Karatepe, Osman M. 01 January 2017 (has links)
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to gauge the effects of challenge and hindrance stressors as well as three high-performance work practices (HPWPs) such as training, empowerment and rewards on work engagement (WE) and turnover intentions (TI). This study also tests customer orientation (COR) as a moderator of these relationships. Design/methodology/approach: Data gathered from frontline hotel employees in Northern Cyprus in two time periods with a time lag of two weeks were used to test the relationships. Findings: The results suggest that both challenge and hindrance stressors heighten TI and empowerment fosters WE. Rewards alleviate TI. More importantly, COR acts as a moderator of the effects of challenge and hindrance stressors as well as training, empowerment and rewards on WE and TI. Practical implications: Management needs to hire employees high on COR and develop training programs that boost employees’ customer-oriented behaviors. Employees should also be allowed to craft the level of job demands and resources as long as the work is congruent with management expectations. Originality/value: This study contributes to the extant hospitality knowledge by testing COR as a moderator of the effects of challenge and hindrance stressors and HPWPs on WE and TI.

Croissance, concurrence et TIC / Innovation, competition and growthChantrel, Étienne 18 December 2013 (has links)
Political discourse is imbued with an obsession for economic growth. The main determinant of long-term growth in endogenous growth theory is innovation, but the institutional environment of economic activity is also an important explanatory factor. In particular, within this environment, competition plays a major, though controversial, role. The purpose of this thesis is to study some aspects of growth, of its determinants and of policies that seek to promote it. Two aspects in particular will be studied, innovation and competition. The first part focuses on two types of policies aimed at encouraging innovation. The first policy is direct government support, studied through an analysis of the impact of the Research Tax Credit (Chapter 1). The second policy considered is the legal framework for innovation (Chapter 2). The theoretical model presented intends to take into account new practices in intellectual property law. The second part deals with the institutional environment in general, and in particular competition. It starts with an international comparison of the level of competition between France and several European countries in various sectors, using an econometric method based on growth equations (Chapter 3). Two sectors are then analyzed in detail : the food industry (Chapter 4), where the balance of power has been tipped in favour of large retailers, and accomodation and food services activities (Chapter 5).

This thesis focuses on the activation of the southwestern part of the Highlands Region. This section is not frequented by tourists. Those are just passing through this part, from the regional city of Jihlava in Telc, the historic town included on the UNESCO list. These two cities are among the most visited places in the Highlands, yet tourists around not delay longer. The reason is the lack of information about how to place and in particular the poor amenities.

Piren i Farstanäs / The Pier in FarstanäsButler, Elis January 2021 (has links)
Farstanäs Camping leases a plot in Södertälje, northeast of Järna, a landscaped beach with wide lawns that cut into the middle of a nature reserve. Until the summer of 2021, the owner and the municipality have decided that the campsite will remain, after that it is uncertain and when I contact the development coordinator for further information, the answer recieved is that it has not been decided. To continue to promote swimming, sunbathing and ensure that the site is managed, a conference hotel is being built near the beach with a public pier that follows the water. The building also houses a restaurant and premises that are free for the public. A larger, continuous presence secures and extends the season, the premises can be rented for events and during the summer they can be opened up, spread out towards the forest or roll down the slope. The design of the new structure wants to go hand in hand with an idea of social and economic sustainability, the building creeps up the hill and should be inviting. Sunny, buns and coffee. A play both with classic materials, borrowed dreams of romances under a pier and lively dance on faded planks. Together with the other nearby farms, the pier makes a new avenue and hovers over the landscape, the green spice shelf, ingrained in green mud color, can give life to a place that has started to get a little gray at the edge. The bay is well visited during the summer and this is an initiative to be able to meet the municipality's hope for revenue and thus compete with the ongoing privatization. The premises that would otherwise be sold out or demolished can continue to be managed under new management, the campsite can remain for many more years and nearby activities benefit from both passers-by and those who want to stay longer but perhaps rather a night away. The beach remains open to everyone.
