Linguajando com tecnologias móveis : a metáfora na cognição inventiva

O fenômeno metafórico, caro às ciências da linguagem, tem recentemente adentrado também os estudos cognitivos, visto que se tem advogado que a metáfora não ocorre apenas na linguagem, mas constitui processos do pensamento. Argumento aqui que a metaforização articula singularidades que operam na contiguidade entre linguagem e cognição e, nela, na invenção de si e do mundo. Para tanto, um projeto de pesquisa-intervenção foi cartografado, através da criação de um método com retalhos, denominado pat(c)hwork. No projeto, desenvolvido pelo Núcleo de Pesquisas em Ecologias e Políticas Cognitivas (NUCOGS-UFRGS), um jogo digital móvel baseado em localização foi produzido para ser jogado no Parque Jardim Botânico de Porto Alegre, em um contexto não formal de aprendizagem. O jogo foi testado por estudantes do 4º e 5º ano do ensino fundamental de uma escola pública conveniada com o parque e com o grupo de pesquisa, através de oficinas. O foco cartográfico enfatizou o linguajar como agir humano na linguagem, com especial atenção à hipótese de que o mesmo caracteriza-se também pela metaforicidade O referencial teórico apóia-se na teoria autopoiética, por meio da concepção de linguagem como linguajar, entrelaçada ao emocionar e ao conversar, compondo redes de conversação; na teoria da enação, mediante a noção de cognição incorporada; na linguística cognitiva, especialmente na teoria da metáfora conceitual, como processo de fabricação e organização que pressupõe a corporeidade; e na cognição inventiva, pela costura dos conceitos de políticas, ecologias e tecnologias cognitivas. Ao cartografarmos retalhos linguageiros de conexões entre os domínios físico e digital, necessários à jogabilidade de um jogo móvel de localização, esperamos contribuir para uma compreensão do fenômeno metafórico como modulador da linguagem e da cognição como ações corporificadas, emergentes e acentradas, processos e produtos de recorrências e recursões operadas no entrelaçamento linguajar-conhecer ao longo do viver. / The metaphorical phenomenon, dear to the sciences of language, has also recently entered the cognitive studies, since it has been argued that metaphor does not occur only in language, but constitutes processes of thought. I argue here that metaphorization articulates singularities that operate in the contiguity between language and cognition and, within it, in the invention of oneself and of the world. For this, a research-intervention project was mapped through the creation of a patchwork method, called pat(c)hwork. In the project, developed by the research group Núcleo de Ecologias e Políticas Cognitivas (NUCOGS-UFRGS), a location-based mobile game was produced to be played at the Botanical Garden of Porto Alegre, in a non-formal learning context. The game was tested by students from the 4th and 5th grades of an elementary public school that entered a partnership with the park and the research group, through workshops. The cartographic focus emphasized languaging as human action in language, with special attention to the hypothesis that it is also characterized by metaphoricity The theoretical research framework is based on autopoietic theory, through the conception of language as languaging, intertwined with emotion and conversation, composing conversation networks; on enactivism, through the notion of incorporated cognition; on cognitive linguistics, especially on the theory of conceptual metaphor, as a process of fabrication and organization that presupposes corporeality; and on inventive cognition, by sewing the concepts of cognitive policies, ecologies and technologies. By mapping patches of connections between the physical and the digital domains, necessary for the gameplay of a location-based mobile game, we hope to contribute to an understanding of the metaphorical phenomenon as a modulator of embodied, emerging and decentralized language and cognition as modes of actions, processes and products of recurrences and recursions operated in the intertwining of languaging and knowing along living.

O experimento foi instalado na Fazenda de Ensino, Pesquisa e Extensão - FEPE, da Faculdade de Engenharia do Campus de Ilha Solteira localizado em Selvíria- MS, em área com 36 anos de sistema de plantio direto (SPD). O delineamento estatístico para as culturas da soja e sorgo em blocos ao acaso disposto no esquema fatorial 5x2, com 4 repetições, é constituído pelos tratamentos: a lanço no dia da semeadura (L-DS); a lanço 12 dias antes da semeadura (L-12DAS) para soja e sorgo aos 10 dias (L-10DAS); incorporado no dia da semeadura (I-DS), incorporado com 12 dias antes da semeadura da soja (I-12DAS) e 10 dias(I-10DAS) para sorgo e testemunha (T) com zero adubo no sulco de semeadura, semeado por dois mecanismos (haste e disco).Os parâmetros avaliados para a cultura da soja foram porcentagem de cobertura do solo antes e após a semeadura no verão de 2016/17 e característica agronômicas da cultura: população inicial (PI) e final de plantas (PF), índice de sobrevivência de plantas(IS), diâmetro de caule (DC), altura de planta (AP), altura de inserção da 1a vagem (AIPV), número de grãos por vagem (NGV), grãos viáveis (GV) e grãos inviáveis (GI) por planta, classificação do número de grãos de 1, 2, 3 e acima de 4 grãos por vagem, massa de 1000 grãos (M1000 g), produtividade de grãos (PG) e palha de planta na matéria seca(PMS). The experiment was installed in the Teaching, Research and Extension Farm - FEPE, of Engineering Faculty of Ilha Solteira, located in Selvíria-MS, in an area with 36 years of no-tillage system (NTS). Statistical design for soybean and sorghum crops was in randomized blocks, arranged in the 5x2 factorial scheme, with 4 replications. O objetivo da pesquisa foi de avaliar a seletividade e eficácia de herbicidas em programas de manejo com aplicações antes e após o plantio da cana-de-açúcar. O experimento foi conduzido no Brasil, município Ribeirão Preto, SP, em canavial cultivado em Latossolo Vermelho de textura argilosa, localizado sob clima Cwa de Koppen, entre janeiro/2018 a março/2019. O delineamento experimental foi em blocos casualisados com dez tratamentos em quatro repetições. As parcelas foram constituídas por cinco linhas de cana-de-açúcar com 5 m de comprimento e espaçadas de 1,5 m. As parcelas foram semeadas com as espécies de M. aterrima, R. communis, M. aegyptia, I. hederifolia e I. quamoclit, sempre antes da primeira aplicação de herbicida. The objective of the research was to evaluate the selectivity and efficacy of herbicides in management programs with applications before and after sugarcane planting. The experiment was conducted in Ribeirão Preto, SP, Brazil, in a sugarcane planted in a clayey Red Latosol texture, located under Cwa of Koppen climate, from January/2018 to March/2019. The experimental delineation was performed in randomized blocks with ten treatments in four replicates. The plots were constituted by five lines of sugarcane with 5 m of length and spaced out of 1.5 m. The Relationship of Student Use of the Scholastic ReadAbout Software Systemon Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) Reading Test Scores as Reported in Student Records of Third and Fourth Grade Students at Comal Independent School District, Texas

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of Scholastic, Incorporated's ReadAbout software system on student achievement in the subject of reading. The study assessed the relationship between the amount of time third and fourth grade students spent utilizing the program and their scale scores on the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) reading test, as reported in student records of third and fourth graders at Comal Independent School District, Texas. Additionally, the study attempted to determine possible differences among students for the variables of gender, primary language of learning, and socio-economic status, as reported in student records of third and fourth graders at Comal Independent School District, Texas. For the purpose of this study, school and student performance analysis included only the nine elementary schools in the Comal Independent School District that served third and fourth grade students during the 2007-2008 school year. The student population under study consisted of a total of 585 third graders and 792 fourth graders (1377 total students). The research findings of this study include the following: 1. There was a statistically significant relationship between the amount of time that both third grade and fourth grade students spent using the ReadAbout software system and their performance on the third and fourth grade TAKS reading tests. 2. No statistically significant relationships were determined for gender or socioeconomic status when the amount of time individuals in each subpopulation spent using ReadAbout and the students' TAKS reading test scale scores were compared. However, in the analysis for primary language of learning, a small group of Spanish-speaking students who used ReadAbout for more than 16.5 hours prior to taking the test outperformed their English-speaking peers in the same usage category, and this difference did prove to be statistically significant.

This diploma thesis discusses the implementation of a GCC target for the Texas Instruments TMS320C6000 DSP platform. To this end, it makes use of mechanisms offered by GCC for porting to new target architectures. GCC internals such as the handling of conditional jumps and the layout of stack frames are investigated and applied to the new architecture. / Diese Diplomarbeit behandelt die Implementierung eines GCC-Targets für die DSP-Plattform TMS320C6000 von Texas Instruments. Device characterization and reliability of Dysprosium (Dy) incorporated HfO₂ CMOS devices and its application to high-k NAND flash memory

Dy-incorporated HfO₂ gate oxide with TaN gate electrode nMOS device has been developed for high performance CMOS applications in 22nm node technology. DyO /HfO bi-layer structure shows thin EOT with reduced leakage current and less charge trapping compared to HfO₂. Excellent electrical performance of the DyO-capped HfO₂ oxide n-MOSFET such as lower V[subscript TH], higher drive current, and improved channel electron mobility are reported. DyO/HfO samples also show better immunity for V[subscript TH] instability and less severe charge trapping characteristics. Its charge trapping characteristics, conduction mechanisms and dielectric reliability have been investigated in this work. As an application to memory device, HfON charge trapping layered NAND flash memory is developed and characterized. First, temperature-dependent Dy diffusion and the diffusion-driven Dy dipole formation process are discussed to clarify the origin of V[subscript TH] shift, and eventually modulate the effective work function in Dy-Hf-O/SiO₂ system. The Dy-induced dipoles are closely related to the Dy-silicate formation at the high-k/SiO₂ interfaces since the V[subscript FB] shift in Dy₂O₃ is caused by the dipole and coincides with the Dy-silicate formation. Dipole formation is a thermally activated process, and more dipoles are formed at a higher temperature with a given Dy content. The Dy-silicate related bonding structure at the interface is associated with the strength of the Dy dipole moment, and becomes dominant in controlling the V[subscript FB]/V[scubscript TH] shift during high temperature annealing in the Dy- Hf-O/SiO₂ gate oxide system. Dy-induced dipole reduces the degradation of the electron mobility. Second, to understand the reduced leakage current of the DyO/HfO sample, the effective barrier height of Dy₂O₃ was calculated from FN tunneling models, and the band diagram was estimated. The higher effective barrier height of Dy₂O₃, which is around 2.32 eV calculated from the F-N plot, accounts for the reduced leakage current in Dy incorporated HfO₂ nMOS devices. The lower barrier height of HfO₂ result in increased electron tunneling currents enhanced by the buildup of hole charges trapped in the oxide, which causes a severe increase of stress-induced leakage current (SILC), leading to oxide breakdown. However, the increased barrier height in Dy incorporated HfO₂ inhibits a further increase of the electron tunneling from the TaN gate, and trapped holes lessen the hole tunneling currents, resulting in a negligible SILC. The lower trap generation rate by the reduced hole trap density and the reduced hole tunneling of the Dy-doped HfO₂ dielectric demonstrates the high dielectric breakdown strength by weakening the charge trapping and defect generation during the stress. Based on these fundamental studies of the dielectric breakdown, modeling of time-dependent dielectric breakdown (TDDB) was done. The intrinsic TDDB of the Dy-doped HfO₂ gate oxide having 1 nm EOT is characterized by the progressive breakdown (PBD) model. At high temperature, the PBD becomes severe, since thermal energy causes carrier hopping between the localized weak spots. The voltage acceleration factor derived from the power law shows a realistic prediction in comparison with those from the 1/E model. The increase of the voltage acceleration factor at lower stress voltage is due to the lower trap generation rate in Dy- incorporated HfO₂. This voltage acceleration factor can be easily extended to include temperature dependency, and the effective activation energy derived from the power law is voltage dependent. Lastly, I studied the device characteristics of thin HfON charge-trap layer nonvolatile memory in a TaN/Al₂O₃/HfON/SiO₂/p-Si (TANOS) structure. A large memory window and fast erase speed, as well as good retention time, were achieved by using the NH₃ nitridation technique to incorporate nitrogen into the thin HfO₂ layer, which causes a high electron-trap density in the HfON layer. The higher dielectric constant of the HfON charge-trap layer induces a higher electric field in the tunneling oxide at the same voltage compared to non-nitrided films and, thus, creates a high Fowler-Nordheim (FN) tunneling current to increase the erase and programming speed. The trap-level energy in the HfON layer was calculated by using an amphoteric model. / text

The Impacts of Foreign Banks’ Management Model on Their Degree of Localization and Operating Efficiency in China

abstract: This thesis aims to investigate the impacts of foreign banks’ management model on their degree of localization and operating efficiency. I decompose their management model into five major factors, including two formative factors and three reflective factors. The two formative factors are (1) strategic orientation and (2) target customers, and the three reflective factors are (1) top management team composition, (2) organizational structure, and (3) managerial authority and incentives. I propose that the formative factors influence foreign banks’ degree of localization, as demonstrated by the reflective factors, which subsequently influence foreign banks’ operating efficiency in China. To test the above proposition, I conduct the empirical analysis in three steps. In the first step, I investigate foreign banks’ management model by surveying 13 major foreign banks locally incorporated in Mainland China. The results suggest that these 13 foreign banks can be categorized into three distinct groups based on their management model: intergrators, customer-followers, and parent-followers. The results also indicate that intergrators have the highest level of localization while parent-followers have the lowest level of localization. In the second step, I conduct DEA (Data Envelope Analysis) and CAMEL (Capital Adequacy, Asset Quality, Management, Earnings, Liquidity Analysis) to assess the operating efficiency of these 13 foreign banks. The assessment is conducted in two ways: 1) the inter-group comparison between foreign banks and local Chinese banks; 2) the intra-group comparison between the three distinct groups of foreign banks identified in the first step. The results indicates that the principal factor driving the operating efficiency of both local Chinese banks and foreign banks is the comprehensive technical efficiency, which includes both the quality of management and the quality of technical elements. I also find the uptrend of technical efficiency of the integrators is more stable than that of the other two groups of foreign banks. Finally, I integrate the results from step one and step two to assess the relevance between foreign banks’ localization level and operating efficiency. I find that foreign banks that score higher in localization tend to have a higher level of operating efficiency. Although this finding is not conclusive about the causal relationship between localization and operating efficiency, it nevertheless suggests that the management model of the higher performing integrators can serve as references for the other foreign banks attempting to enhance their localization and operating efficiency. O experimento foi instalado na Fazenda de Ensino, Pesquisa e Extensão - FEPE, da Faculdade de Engenharia do Campus de Ilha Solteira localizado em Selvíria- MS, em área com 36 anos de sistema de plantio direto (SPD). O delineamento estatístico para as culturas da soja e sorgo em blocos ao acaso disposto no esquema fatorial 5x2, com 4 repetições, é constituído pelos tratamentos: a lanço no dia da semeadura (L-DS); a lanço 12 dias antes da semeadura (L-12DAS) para soja e sorgo aos 10 dias (L-10DAS); incorporado no dia da semeadura (I-DS), incorporado com 12 dias antes da semeadura da soja (I-12DAS) e 10 dias(I-10DAS) para sorgo e testemunha (T) com zero adubo no sulco de semeadura, semeado por dois mecanismos (haste e disco).Os parâmetros avaliados para a cultura da soja foram porcentagem de cobertura do solo antes e após a semeadura no verão de 2016/17 e característica agronômicas da cultura: população inicial (PI) e final de plantas (PF), índice de sobrevivência de plantas(IS), diâmetro de caule (DC), altura de planta (AP), altura de inserção da 1a vagem (AIPV), número de grãos por vagem (NGV), grãos viáveis (GV) e grãos inviáveis (GI) por planta, classificação do número de grãos de 1, 2, 3 e acima de 4 grãos por vagem, massa de 1000 grãos (M1000 g), produtividade de grãos (PG) e palha de planta na matéria seca(PMS). Para a cultura do sorgo (outono-inverno de 2017) foram avaliadas o estande inicial (PI) e final de plantas (PF), índice de sobrevivência(IS), diâmetro do caule (DC), altura de planta (AP), altura da panícula (APL) e comprimento de panícula (CP) e produtividade de matéria seca (PMS) de planta como forragem. Contudo para os resultados do experimento da soja, os mecanismos de disco proporcionaram um aumento para população inicial e final de plantas, e estabilidade populacional e como consequência aumento de produtividade de grãos e redução do custo econômico pela distribuição do fertilizante à lanço no mesmo dia da semeadura proporcionar maior largura e menor tempo operacional em áreas com SPD estabilizado. Para o sorgo as modalidades de distribuição do fertilizante de semeadura variaram estatisticamente para o estande final de plantas, produtividade de matéria seca (PMS) de planta como forragem e altura de inserção de planta e panícula, assim como os mecanismos sulcadores diferenciaram para o estande inicial e final de plantas, índice de sobrevivência e produtividade de matéria seca (PMS) de planta. Houve interação significativa entre modalidade de distribuição adubo e mecanismos sulcadores para produtividade de matéria seca (PMS) e altura de plantas de sorgo, sendo que cada sulcador apresentou valores distintos, em que a semeadura com disco e adubo a lanço no dia da semeadura e adubação antecipada com haste proporcionaram maior produtividade de matéria seca (PMS). Conclui-se que a distribuição a lanço no mesmo dia semeadura de soja e sorgo proporcionou produtividade de grãos e forragem similar à semeadura convencional em que o adubo é depositado no sulco. / Pre-sowing fertilization is a practice that has provided reduced operating costs. The experiment was installed in the Teaching, Research and Extension Farm - FEPE, of Engineering Faculty of Ilha Solteira, located in Selvíria-MS, in an area with 36 years of no-tillage system (NTS). Statistical design for soybean and sorghum crops was in randomized blocks, arranged in the 5x2 factorial scheme, with 4 replications. The treatments consisted in hauling on the sowing day (H-SD); hauling 12 days before sowing (H-12DBS) for soybean and sorghum at 10 days (H-10DBS); incorporated on the sowing day (I-SD), incorporated 12 days before soybean sowing (I-12DBS) and 10 days (I-10DBS) for sorghum and control (C) with zero fertilizer in the sowing furrow, sown by two mechanisms (stem and disc).The parameters evaluated for soybean were percentage of soil cover before and after soybean sowing in the summer of 2016/17 and agronomic characteristics of the crop: initial (IP) and final (FP) plant population, plant survival index (SI), stem diameter (SD), first pod insertion height (FPIH), number of grains per pod (NGP), viable grains (VG) and non-viable grains (NVG) per plant, grading number of grains of 1, 2 , 3 and above 4 grains per pod, 1000 grains (M1000g), grain yield (GY) and dry matter plant straw (DMS). The initial (IP) and final (FP) plant stand, survival index (SI), stem diameter (SD), plant height (PH), panicle height (PAH) and panicle length (PL) were evaluated for sorghum (autumn-winter 2017) and dry matter yield (DMY) of the plant as forage. However, for the results of the soybean experiment, the disc provided an increase in initial and final population of plants, and population stability and consequently increased grain yield and economic cost reduction by the hauling distribution on the same day sowing provide greater width and shorter operational time in areas with NTS stabilized.For the sorghum, the distribution modalities of distributing sowing fertilizer varied statistically for the final plant stand, dry matter yield (DMY) of the plant as forage and height of plant and panicle insertion, as well as the furrowing mechanisms differentiated for the initial and final population, survival index and dry matter yield (DMY) of the plant. There was a significant interaction between the mode of fertilizer distribution and furrowing mechanisms for dry matter yield (DMY) and height of sorghum plants, with each mechanism showed different values, in which sowing with disc with hauling distribution in the day of sowing and anticipated fertilization with stem increased yield of dry matter (DMY). Concluded that the hauling distribution in the same day of sowing of soybean and sorghum provided grain yield and forage similar to conventional sowing in which the fertilizer is deposited in the groove.
