Gomes, Raquel Salcedo January 2017 (has links)
The metaphorical phenomenon, dear to the sciences of language, has also recently entered the cognitive studies, since it has been argued that metaphor does not occur only in language, but constitutes processes of thought. I argue here that metaphorization articulates singularities that operate in the contiguity between language and cognition and, within it, in the invention of oneself and of the world. For this, a research-intervention project was mapped through the creation of a patchwork method, called pat(c)hwork. In the project, developed by the research group Núcleo de Ecologias e Políticas Cognitivas (NUCOGS-UFRGS), a location-based mobile game was produced to be played at the Botanical Garden of Porto Alegre, in a non-formal learning context. The game was tested by students from the 4th and 5th grades of an elementary public school that entered a partnership with the park and the research group, through workshops. The cartographic focus emphasized languaging as human action in language, with special attention to the hypothesis that it is also characterized by metaphoricity The theoretical research framework is based on autopoietic theory, through the conception of language as languaging, intertwined with emotion and conversation, composing conversation networks; on enactivism, through the notion of incorporated cognition; on cognitive linguistics, especially on the theory of conceptual metaphor, as a process of fabrication and organization that presupposes corporeality; and on inventive cognition, by sewing the concepts of cognitive policies, ecologies and technologies. By mapping patches of connections between the physical and the digital domains, necessary for the gameplay of a location-based mobile game, we hope to contribute to an understanding of the metaphorical phenomenon as a modulator of embodied, emerging and decentralized language and cognition as modes of actions, processes and products of recurrences and recursions operated in the intertwining of languaging and knowing along living.

Maltézská fara v Horažďovicích (1251 - 1850) / The Maltese pharish in Horažďovice (1251 - 1850)

HESOUNOVÁ, Lucie January 2009 (has links)
This diploma paper focuses on progress of the pharish in Horažďovice in years 1251 {--} 1850. It was the incorporate pharish of the Sovereign Order of Malta, to wich was not given the research interest before now. This thesis tries to discover the chronologic progress and changes of the parish in the watched period, based primarily on the resources of archives. Further tries to see into the situation of incorporated pharish in terms of dioceses and archidioceses. The work is divided into nine chapters. After the introduction with definition the theme theme of the research and evaluation the used sources succeeds a short chapter about the Order, its history and hierarchy abroad also in the czech province. Following four chapters (forming the main part of the thesis) inscribe the six-hundred long progress of the pharish in Horažďovice. The next part is devoted to the parsons, the parish church St. Peter and Paul and its asset. The ninth chapter dissertates about the situation of the monastic incorporated pharish in the arcidiocese of Prague and the diocese of České Budějovice. This situation is illustrated on example of the Maltese pharish in Horažďovice. The keynotes of the archival research summarizes the conclusion, wich is followed by a list of the abbreviations used, sources and the literature and the annexes.

Frames of Digital Blackness in the Racialized Palimpsest City: Chicago, Illinois and Johannesburg, South Africa

Woodard, Davon Teremus Trevino 16 August 2021 (has links)
The United States and South Africa, exemplars of "archsegregation," have been constituted within an arc of historical racialized delineations which began with the centering, and subsequent overrepresentation, of European maleness and whiteness as the sole definition of Man. Globally present and persistent, these racialized delineations have been localized and spatially embedded through the tools of urban planning. This arc of racialized otherness, ineffectively erased, continues to inform the racially differentiated geospatial, health, social, and economic outcomes in contemporary urban form and functions for Black communities. It is within this historical arc, and against these differentiated outcomes, that contemporary urban discourse and contestation between individuals and institutions are situated. This historical othering provides not just a racialized geo-historical contextualization, but also works to preclude the recognition of the some of the most vulnerable urban community members. As urbanists and advocates strive to co-create urban space and place with municipalities, meeting the needs of these residents is imperative. In order to meet these needs, their lived experiences, and voices must be fully recognized and engaged in the processes and programs of urban co-creation, including in digital spaces and forums. Critical to achieving recognition acknowledging and situating contemporary digital discourses between local municipalities, Black residents, and Black networks within this historically racialized arc is necessary. In doing so, explore if, and how, race, specifically Blackness, is enacted in municipal digital discourse, whether these enactments serve to advance or impede resident recognition and participation, and how Black users, as residents and social network curators, engage and respond to these municipal discursive enactments. This exploratory research is a geographically and digitally multi-sited incorporated comparison of Chicago, Illinois, and Johannesburg South Africa. Using Twitter and ethnographic data collected between December 1, 2019, and March 31, 2020, this research layers digital ethnographic mixed methods and qualitive mixed methods, including traditional ethnographic, digital ethnographic, grounded theory, social change and discourse analysis, and frame analysis to explore three research goals. First, explore the digital discursive practices and frames employed by municipalities to inform, communicate with, and engage Black communities, and, if and how, these frames are situated within a historically racialized arc. Second, identify the ways in which Black residents, in dual discursive engagements with local municipalities and their own social networks, interact and engage with the municipal frames centering on Blackness. Third, through ethnographic narratives, acknowledge the marginalized residents of the Central Business District of Johannesburg, South Africa as "agents of knowledge," with critical and valuable knowledge claims which arise from their lived experiences anchored within racialized place and space. In doing so, support the efforts of these residents in recentering the validity of their knowledge claims in the co-creation of urban place and space. Additionally, in situating the city within a historically racialized arc develop novel frameworks, the racialized palimpsest city and syndemic segregation, through which to explore contemporary urban interactions and engagements. / Doctor of Philosophy / The United States and South Africa, exemplars of "archsegregation," have been constituted within an arc of historical racialized delineations which began with the centering, and subsequent overrepresentation, of European maleness and whiteness as the sole definition of Man. Vers une pédagogie transculturelle des langues-cultures : l'émergence d'une parole qui fait sens pour les adolescents / Towards a transcultural pedagogy : the emergence of words that make sense for adolescents

Ouari, Karima 14 January 2015 (has links)
This thesis questions the contribution of the school system to adolescent identity formation. Language is at the heart of this construction. However, in the French school landscape, the boundaries between the language of schooling, language families, the ELF and LVE are near hermetic and contribute to the fragmentation of identity. Compartmentalized teaching induces many dissociations (language and culture, body and mind) that hinder the development of ties between students and their environment. Vulnerable pupils accumulate difficulties and school becomes a place of social exclusion.Faced with the necessity of thinking pedagogy for pupils to experiencelinguistic and cultural otherness in terms of interrelatedness, this thesis proposes an analysis of the impact of artistic scenarios in English class. These scenarios were designed for students in a secondary school in Bobigny and they are based on their intercultural, transcultural and multilingual experiences and their interpretations of the world. They are built on co-reflection, co-writing, co- creation and co-feeling through dance and drama and open onto a space that offers the opportunity to verbalize their emotions. The analysis of pedagogical-artistic scenarios that are the subject of this work is based on a triple settings: ethnopsychological (transcultural psychotherapy, MR. Moro) psychological (creating a reassuring atmosphere which makes adolescents feel secure, B. Cyrulnik and cooperative learning, D. Johnson and R. Johnson) and pedagogical (incorporated learning, J. Aden). This triple setting offers a transcultural mediation as a method, to use the potential of artistic expression and creativity of adolescents. These three disciplines are complementary and the scenarios are designed among other things to restore a link between cognitive and emotional processes.A transcultural pedagogy allows us to rethink the class into an experiential community (interpretative and cooperative community, and a community of practice) while respecting and valuing the uniqueness of each pupil. At the heart of this pedagogy, the notion of shared experience and speech is central. The device is analyzed at the interface of collective and singular aesthetic experience and allows a shift in perspective on: self-representation, the representation of the other, the relationship between self and other, the relationship between oneself and his or her environment, the relationship between the others and their environment and in fine the awareness of self within the social matrix. This thesis is based on a mixed methodology and is at the interface of transcultural clinic, psychology and teaching of languages and cultures. It analyzes the impact of cross-cultural education through the voices of students collected during the project and in the longer term, three years after the experiment. The corpus is composed of class interactions in English and French, plays in English written and performed by students at the end of the year of the experimentation and qualitative interviews conducted afterwards.

Yakova, Yordanka 06 1900 (has links)
To complete their life cycle viruses interact with many factors of the host cell. Herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) is no exception. A recent proteomic study of the virus carried by our laboratory has identified up to 49 cellular proteins potentially incorporated into the mature virions of HSV-1[1]. Since some of these proteins may play important roles during the viral life cycle, they are interesting targets for identification and characterization of new host-pathogen interactions in the context of HSV-1. To target the proteins that are relevant to the viral life cycle of Herpes, the laboratory performed a screening with small interfering RNAs (siRNAs), which showed that at least 15 incorporated proteins are involved in the replication cycle of HSV- 1 in cell culture (Appendix 1). Numerous studies report the incorporation of host proteins in mature virions but few addresses the importance for the viral infectivity of the fractions of cellular proteins incorporated into the virions. To verify this, we depleted these proteins from the mature extracellular virions using siRNAs. Subsequently, we used these viruses to re-infect depleted or normal cells. This method allowed us to identify for the first time eight proteins (DDX3X, HSPA8, KRT10, MIF, Rab5A, Rab6A, Rab10 and 14-3-3ζ) whose absence in virions reduced viral production by at least 50%. As part of understanding at what stage of the life cycle these proteins are necessary for HSV-1, we tested the infectivity of intracellular depleted viruses. Thus, we found at least seven cellular proteins (DDX3X, HSPA8, KRT10, MIF, Rab5A, Rab6A and Rab10) to have a pronounced effect on the replication of herpes virus, which has stimulated us to begin a series of more in-depth tests of the entry of HSV-1. Preliminary results demonstrate the involvement in the entry of HSV-1 of at least three to four proteins (HSPA8, KRT10, Rab5A and Rab10).

Lima, Sandra Maria de 06 March 2006 (has links)
The aim to collaborate with the set out of the world population increase problem, using a feasible and economical proposal, with technology advantages, destined to store foodstuff in low temperatures, motivated the development of this research, that suggests concrete as an alternative material to storage and conservation foodstuff system construction. Starting from the concrete design with an adequate method, and based on the technology developed by worker group of Laboratory of Advanced Cement Based Materials, were designed two kinds of concrete: with and without incorporated air. The durability of concrete in low temperatures environment were related to air voids system with 6 '+ OU -' 1% of air content, and to adequate spacing between air voids. The concrete behaviour in low temperatures environment was evaluated placing the specimens in a cold chamber, whose temperatures were about -35 '+ OU -' 2 Celsius degrees. The integrity of the specimens was evaluated by non-destructive method (determination of natural frequency). The exposure period of the specimens was thirty five days, but at seventh day the natural frequencies values were stabilized. Both kind of concrete were resistant in this condition. The obtained results show that concretes, in conformity to the used methodology, performed all requirement for that were designed
