Exports And Clusters: A Spatial Econometric Analysis On Ankara And Istanbul OizsCetin, Dilek 01 September 2012 (has links) (PDF)
Organized Industrial Zones (OIZs) are used as a main and important industry policy tool in Turkey. In 2012, the number of OIZs is 263 with 148 active and 115 planned ones. Network between the firms reveal the knowledge spillovers which is inevitable for economic growth of a country for neo-classical economists.
In this thesis, existence of intra-OIZ and intra-industry knowledge spillovers in Ankara and Istanbul is tested by the help of an export decision function. As it considers the spatial dependence between the regional units the spatial econometric method is preferred for the analysis. The data set is taken from the &ldquo / Field Research Survey&rdquo / of Small and Medium Enterprises Development Organization (SMEDO). It consists of 62,137 firm level observations from 24 manufacturing industries in 81 provinces between 2004 and 2007. After the cleaning process of the data, 1545 and 1172 observations are left for Ankara and Istanbul, respectively.
The results show that the size of the firm (which is proxied by logarithm of total labor), technology (which is proxied by computer usage), organizational proximity and foreign language knowledge of the administrator are the common determinants of export decision for Ankara and Istanbul for both intra-IOZ and intra-industry relations when spatial dependence is not ignored. Besides these variables, in Ankara percentage of
high skilled labor is significant while in Istanbul cluster proximity is significant. Moreover, for Ankara while for intra-OIZ relations the spatial effect is one third of the total effect, it is one fourth of the total effect for intra-industry relation. For Istanbul one fourth of the total effect is from spatial effects for both intra-OIZ and intra-industry relations.

Industrial Firm Relocation: The Case Of Gebze Organized Industrial ZoneBarin, Elcin 01 September 2009 (has links) (PDF)
It is an indisputable fact that cities have experienced a process of economic and spatial
restructuring accompanied by the globalization of economy throughout the world since the
1980s. In line with this process, industrial sector has also witnessed economic and social
restructuring process. Research in regional planning marks this process as a consequence
of emerging industrial dynamics such as new technologies, new markets, and lower labor
costs under new spatial divisions of labor. Such industrial dynamics brought spatial
restructuring as well. Therefore, industrial firms are willing to relocate production
activities to the new areas where they maintain the spatial margins of profitability. In this
respect, today, one of the main discussion arenas of industrial geography is to explain the
reasons of the industrial relocation.
Within this context, this thesis focuses on the main push and pull factors that underlie the
relocation process of industrial activities towards outside of Istanbul as well as beyond the
provincial boundaries. In order to show this, a case study was conducted in Gebze
Organized Industrial Zone (GOIZ) because 1/100.000 scale Environmental Management
Plan of Istanbul has determined GOIZ as the potential area where the firms can relocate.
The case study covered 37 firms which constitute the total number of firms relocated from
Istanbul. Results of the thesis show that traditional location factors such as transport, site
and premises are the most important factors that motivate firms to relocate from Istanbul
to the GOIZ. However, contemporary factors are not much explanatory in case of the
GOIZ.

The industrial localization has witnessed a significant evolution and an important development in the Great Tunis agglomeration, even huge implications and connections with its urban space. In fact, industrial activities which have beenincreasing more than thirty years ago, have brought up new needs and necessities for spatial organization and management structures for their implementation. Nevertheless, the studies and research works on the relationship between localization of industries and urban challenges remain rare. For this reason, we have chosen to concentrate our effort on the analysis of the binomial industrialization-urbanization, two concomitant phenomena marked sometimes by solidarity, sometimes by rupture. More precisely, we intend to contribute through this research, to the identification andthe understanding of industrial activities’ localization and to establish the principal characteristics in connection with the urban development of Great Tunis agglomeration and the recent industrial trend. They are not the industrial activitiesthemselves, considered in an abstract way, that firstly interest us, but their materialization via the industrial zones where they seem to be more present. We will contribute to a spatial analysis of the cross issue gathering industry and urbanizationand particularly the link between industrial localization and the urban development at stake.

Lokalizační faktory průmyslových zón ve Zlínském kraji / Localization factors of industrial zones in the Zlín regionMlčák, Ladislav January 2015 (has links)
The thesis is based on regional analysis of industrial zones and empirical research of firms located in industrial zones in the Zlín region where searches and evaluates the factors of localization firms. Industrial zones are often considered as an instrument to raise the economic level of the region, but they must comply with market demands for localization in order to use their capacities. The theoretical part presents a view into the theories of localization in order to classify the most important location factors. The following practical part first describes the 17 industrial zones in the region. These characteristics form the conditions of comparison and evaluation of localization factors in connection with empirical research of firms located in industrial zones. The analysis also marginally deals with the selected impacts of industrial zones.

Centro de Educación Técnico Productivo en el distrito de Villa El Salvador desarrollado mediante una arquitectura con espacios intermedios para adolescentes y jóvenes (CETPRO) / Productive Technical Education Center in the Villa El Salvador district developed through an architecture with intermediate spaces for adolescents and young people (CETPRO)Barzola Ubillus, Gianella Geraldine 30 June 2020 (has links)
The proposed project is about a CETPRO, a Center for Productive Technical Education whose main users are adolescents and young people from the district of Villa El Salvador district. Statistics show that more than 50% of these users drop out of higher education to enter the labor market without prior preparation. Against this, the main problem that the district has is the lack of infrastructure for the development of a productive technical education, in relation to the industrial zone.
Currently, the district only has 12 CETPROS, among them, only one provides specialties of wood, mechanics and textiles, while the others develop specialties of personal aesthetics, confectionery, among others. However, these educational centers do not develop specialties directly related to the industrial zone, of which we have: carpentry, leather and footwear, mechanical metal and textile manufacturing.
The project seeks, from these shortcomings, to provide adolescents and young people with a Center of Productive Technical Education with 5 specialties, 4 of them will maintain a relationship with the industrial zone of the district and the last one of administration and commerce for a complete competitive and labor development. Therefore, it is proposed to potentiate the industrial zone and the economic increase of the district.
As part of the analysis, it has been possible to recognize and understand the development of technical education projects, locally, nationally and internationally. The use of intermediate spaces has been identified, where users carry out daily and integration activities, which is why the emphasis of the project is “intermediate spaces”. The main objective is to create spaces for mediation and relationship between the different specialties, maintaining a visual, physical and temporal connection between the interior and exterior spaces.
Finally, the main motivation of this work is to be able to encourage adolescents and young people to attend a productive technical education, through an infrastructure with adequate spaces and suitable for each specialty. The reason why it is located in Villa El Salvador is because it has various positive aspects that will contribute to the development of the first specialized CETPRO. / Trabajo de investigación
