An enterprise's survival and development relies on executive manager's quality and performance. In order to equip the executive managers with the abilities they need at work, most of the companies will provide them with related training program including knowledge, skills, and behaviors which aims to enhance employees' capability. The case company has conducted such managerial training for long which is used to be held by different business units, but after the case company's reorganization, top executives decided to integrate the training program within the whole group. However, is this training schemes proper for different business units based on diverse industries? This research intends to reveal the effectiveness of the managerial training before and after the timing of company's reorganization. This research used case study as a method to analyze the merits of integrating managerial training. It concludes the following findings: the consolidation of training program, the connection among different business units' trainee in financial holdings, the consistency of training program, and the simultaneously reduce of the administrative cost. However, the implied factors to be further discovered in this research refers to the irrelevance of the training program and promotion, the failure of retention potential employees, and the fewer support from trainee's direct supervisor during the process, and etc.

No limiar do horizonte : manifestações e discursos divisionistas Norte/Sul e política integracionista no Paraná (1920-1975) /

Marson, Elzio dos Reis. January 2005 (has links)
Abstract: The North of Paraná was characterized as a region of commercial bonds and an intense cultural influence with the state of São Paulo, by the connection, with roads and railways, as much as by the migratory wheel, most of it, of the natives from São Paulo. Therefore, in this dissertation we present the basis of two subjects and the relations between them: demonstrations and north/south separatist speeches that have been consisted of a twirl-railroad plan. This governmental plan had two well-defined goals: to canalize the agricultural harvest to the port of Paranaguá, in a clear evidence of competition with the port of Santos, and answer to the separatist demonstrations, supported by political segments from the north. Therefore, our objective is to show that the attitudes and the fulfillment of many portions of the society from Londrina, Maringá, Apucarana and Curitiba, that has been shown in the press, and also in the platform of high class associations and of town councils, and analyze their speeches that were subdivided in two causes: to integrate or to separate Paraná. This group of speeches, by many authors: historians, geographers, engineers, journalists, politicians and others, set up as the bearer of many solutions for the problem of the transport of the agricultural harvest and also of infrastructure and integration. Their echoes can still be heard in the politic scene of Paraná. / Mestre

A control system for integrating precision polishing system and CNC machine tool

Gu, Wen-yi 06 February 2010 (has links)
The main goal of this thesis is to propose a strategy which can integrate the precision hydrodynamic polishing system with an ordinary CNC machine tool. This integrated CNC machine tool is capable of applying the hydrodynamic polishing process, which is a high-precision machining method, to compensate the form error on a work surface to improve its form precision. With such a compensation capability, a low-cost CNC machine tool may play the function of precision machining as well as an expensive CNC machine tool does. It is hoped that with this function equipped in a CNC machine tool the international competition of the domestic machining industry can be enhanced. The complete integrating scheme is composed of three parts. The first part is the hardware of polishing system, which is required to attach to the CNC machine tool. The second one is the software developed in this thesis. It includes the codes to generate the commands to control the CNC machine tool and the attached polishing system. The final one is coordinating system that is to synchronize the actions of the CNC machine tool and polishing system. It is done by requiring the polishing system to match the actions of machine tool through measuring the configuration of machine tool consistently. Because of the first and third parts, no modification to the machine tool is needed and the requirement to read the internal information of CNC controller is waved. This will significantly reduce the complexity in implementing the integrating job. When properly integrated with the required sensors, the software developed in this thesis can harmonize the actions of the polishing system and machine tool to execute the form error compensation task. The software will automatically generate the commands for the polishing system and machine tool based on the geometric and material data of work. It does not require the user to fully comprehend the function of the CAM software and the details of polishing process. This will obviously reduce the skill requirement of operator and facilitate the use of the integrated system. Since the CNC machine tool only plays the function of offering the three translational motions (in X, Y, and Z directions), the application of this strategy to an ordinary CNC machine tool is straightforward.

The Effectiveness of Constant Versus Rotating Buddy Dyads on the Social Interactions of Handicapped Preschoolers

Nelke, Connie Faye 01 May 1989 (has links)
Due to the passage of Public Law 94-142 (1975), widespread attempts have been made to integrate children who have handicaps into settings with their non handicapped peers. Although integrated settings may provide the opportunity for social interaction to occur between children with and without handicaps, often interaction does not occur. In order to address the issue of how to best facilitate appropriate interactions in integrated settings, specialized programs such as the FMS buddy system (Quintero, Phelps, Striefel, & Killoran, 1987) have been developed to promote positive social interactions between children with and without handicaps. One important aspect programs such as the buddy system have not fully considered is the differential impact a non handicapped child could have on the level of social interaction of the child with handicaps. The impact the non-handicapped buddy could make if constantly paired with the same child with handicaps may be different than the one a non-handicapped child could make if paired, over time , in an alternating sequence with different children who have handicaps. In response to the question of possible differential impact, a single subject multiple baseline design was utilized to compare the effect constant buddies and rotating buddies had on the social interactions of 8 children who had handicaps. The intervention included training the buddies on how to interact with children who have handicaps and providing the opportunity for the children with and without handicaps to play together. Treatment effects were measured by direct observations of social interactions between the children with and without handicaps during free play and buddy sessions, sociometric measures, and attitude measures. Results indicated that pairing children who have handicaps with a non-handicapped buddy increased social interactions between children with and without handicaps during buddy sessions. The level of interaction achieved during buddy sessions was not fully generalized to subsequent free play sessions. Buddies from constant dyads rated their playmates who had handicaps sociometrically higher than buddies from rotating dyads. Non-handicapped children who served as buddies rated their buddy experience favorably. Suggestions for future research in this area are made.

A Feature-Oriented Software Engineering Approach to Integrate ASSISTments with Learning Management Systems

Duong, Hien D 29 May 2014 (has links)
"Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), in the past two decades, has become the most influential and dominant programming paradigm for developing large and complex software systems. With OOP, developers can rely on design patterns that are widely accepted as solutions for recurring problems and used to develop flexible, reusable and modular software. However, recent studies have shown that Objected-Oriented Abstractions are not able to modularize these pattern concerns and tend to lead to programs with poor modularity. Feature-Oriented Programming (FOP) is an extension of OOP that aims to improve the modularity and to support software variability in OOP by refining classes and methods. In this thesis, based upon the work of integrating an online tutor systems, ASSISTments, with other online learning management systems, we evaluate FOP with respect to modularity. This proof-of-concept effort demonstrates how to reduce the effort in designing integration code."

Dynamic features of neural activity in primary auditory cortex captured by an integrate-and-fire network model for auditory streaming

Mahat, Aarati 01 December 2018 (has links)
Past decades of auditory research have identified several acoustic features that influence perceptual organization of sound, in particular, the frequency of tones and the rate of presentation. One class of stimuli that have been intensively studied are sequences of tones that alternate in frequency. They are typically presented in patterns of repeating doublets ABAB… or repeating triplets ABA-ABA-... where the symbol “-” stands for a gap of silence between triplets repeats. The duration of each tone or silence is typically tens to hundreds of milliseconds, and listeners hearing the sequence perceive either one auditory object ("stream integration") or two separate auditory objects (“stream segregation”). Animal studies have characterized single- and multi- unit neural activity and event-related local field potentials while systematically varying frequency separation between tones (ΔF) or the presentation rate (PR). They found that the B tone responses in doublets were differentially suppressed with increasing PR and that the B tones responses in triplets decreased with larger ΔF. However, the neural mechanisms underlying these animal data have yet to be explained. In this study, we built an integrate-and-fire network model of the primary auditory cortex (AC) that accurately reproduced the experimental results. Then, we extended the model to account for basic spectro-temporal features of electrocorticography (ECoG) recordings from the posteriomedial part of the Heschl's gyrus (HGPM; cortical area equivalent to the AC of monkeys), obtained from humans listening to sequences of triplets ABA-. Finally, we constructed a firing rate reduced model of the proposed integrate-and-fire network and analyzed its dynamics as function of parameters. A large network of voltage-dependent leaky integrate-and-fire neurons (3600 excitatory, 900 inhibitory) was constructed to simulate neural activity from layers 3/4 of AC during streaming of tone triplets. Parameters describing synaptic and membrane properties were based on experimental data from early studies of AC. Network structure assumed spatially-dependent probability of connections and tonotopic organization. Subpopulations of neurons were tuned to different frequencies along the tonotopic map. In-silico recordings were performed during the presentation of long sequences of triplets and/or doublets. The network’s output was derived with two types of measurements in mind: spiking activity of individual neurons and/or local populations of neurons, and local field potentials. The network spiking neural activity reproduced reliably data reports, including dependence of responses to the B tone in triplets ABA- on stimulus parameter ΔF. Approximations of average evoked potentials (AEPs) from ECoG signals recorded at four depth contacts placed over human HGPM during auditory streaming of triplets were also obtained.

The Evolution and Trends of Taiwan¡¦s Knitting fabric Industry

Lee, Yu-lin 30 August 2011 (has links)
Knitting fabric industry is a particular branch with obviously industrial cluster in textile industry, having the sufficient resources of raw materials, the rapid mobility of productivity, the mature dyeing and finishing technologies, the extensive experience in international trade, though having the complicated process to the variable products, has developed a completed supply chain of its own. In which closely the composition of the medium or small or even micro enterprise to create the competitive strengths on the whole industry, brings up Taiwan being a major exporting country of knitting fabric worldwide. From the evolution of environment, of market demanding, of trading partners, and the future trends, thru the in-depth interviewing with the representative figures and the experts of the industry, government, academia, R&D, in this research to investigate & analyze their points of view and suggestions for the reference of the field. The research results show, at the supply end, Taiwan has become an ODM manufacturer but not just OEM maker. At the product end, the environment protection and carbon reducing are now strictly requiring on the manufacturing of functional and fashionable hi-tec products. At marketing end, the vertical consolidation among supply chains and the name brands retailers, traders, garment factories, fabric converters, up to yarn mills, the supply chain integrate and the strategic alliance to the new products developing to cause the big bigger, in quick response to the trends now a day the fast fashion and short life cycle with meager profits. To position on the innovational products to meet consumer¡¦s demands, create demanding to create profits.
