The Concept of Investment in International Agreements on Investment Protection The definition of investment is the key task for correct scope of application of rights and obligations, arising from investment contracts and for establishment of tribunals' jurisdiction above disputes, arising from contracts of investment character. The Work goal is analysis of individual bilateral, multilateral and versatile legal acts, containing the term "investment", from the international law viewpoint. It contains brief historical development and clarification of requirements that the investment must fulfill so that the investor, no matter whether a natural person or a juridical person, could claim protection of his/her investment, provided in compliance with relevant investment protection agreements. In spite of general cultural, political and geographical variety of the acts analyzed, it is possible to observe an effort to find common elements that the investment should contain and that are based, in particular, on their economic significance. The introductory chapter deals briefly with historical understanding of an investment in the context of international business development, beginning with the diplomatic protection institute, amended in international customary law. This thesis is dedicated to the activities of CzechInvest, the Investment and Business Development Agency. The analysis is aimed at the portfolio of provided services and development programmes. The system of investment incentives in the manufacturing industry is discussed in detail. The thesis also shows planned measures, which would change the current support in favor of research, development and innovations (technology centers) and business support services centers. Foreign direct investments inflow into the Czech Republic is analyzed as well. It examines investment projects mediated by CzechInvest mainly in the last six years. In the conclusion, the comparison of received foreign direct investments and mediated investment projects is implemented.

The aim of the thesis was to examine the basic technical and technological requirements of photovoltaic technology in terms of economic characteristics, analyze the current situation in the use of renewable energy sources, especially photovoltaics in the Czech Republic with comparing to the world's situation. The thesis also provides an overview of laws and legal norms applicable in the Czech Republic and the European Union with regard to photovoltaics. The crucial part is dedicated to investment evaluation of the renewable energy (photovoltaic) projects. The author supports presented ideas with a comprehensive investment analysis of a specific rooftop photovoltaic project realized by medium sized company. In addition to evaluation process the investment recommendation is provided and the most significant risk factors of the project are identified. The conclusion of this thesis includes a single-factor sensitivity analysis of a net present value of the project.

The aim of the thesis is to evaluate a possible investment in the underground gas storage Rožná. The thesis is divided into three parts. The first theoretical part deals with the characterization and terms defining in the field of investments decision. It also mentions the methods how to evaluate the effectiveness of investments decision. The second theoretical part discusses the strategic analysis of gas industry with the emphasis on using of the underground gas storages in the Czech Republic and in other countries within the European Union. The third part analyzes the effectiveness evaluation of the investment while applying the terms of both theoretical parts.

The purpose of my thesis is to analyse Bilateral Investment Treaties between the EU and China. The question that passes through the entire work is whether there is indeed a homogeneous relationship in FDI between the EU and China as a whole, or whether the practice is rather different relationship with the EU members with some common and different elements. I have chosen the theme of this thesis because I am interested in investment relations, and China is a very attractive destination for the investment, that has from a European point of view its specific features. The thesis is composed of six chapters. In the chapter one I decided to take historical approach by researching the needs and motivations that inspired and influenced the emergence of the BIT program between the EU and China. From a historical approach to the development of FDI in China is obvious that the policy of FDI in China follows the national interests of China. From the beginning FDI was an unwanted tool for China that did not correspond with national policy, however it provided the necessary capital. Over time, China has changed its approach from receiving investment indiscriminately into the consistent direction of flow of FDI into desired sectors. The topic of my diploma thesis is {\clqq}The yield, risk and liquidity of investment options{\crqq}. In the introductory part of this thesis, I define the concept of investment. Furthermore, I deal with the financial market theory and with the characteristics of the subsegments which work within this market. I also define securities, their types and specifics. The next part of the thesis is aimed at the investment strategy which should help an investor to proceed reasonably while investing. Herein, I focused on the rules of the magic triangle and on the definition of the yield, risk and liquidity. I mention the theory of the investment portfolio as well. This is followed by the description of the selected investment options divided into subchapters about individual and collective investments; this being the selection of only the most important investment instruments one can use both in the money market and in the stock market. In the rest of the thesis, I deal with the creating of an individual{\crq}s investment portfolio and with the comparison of the yield, risk and liquidity of the selected options.

The purpose of this thesis is to specify the most suitable encouragement program for a chosen small-scale enterprise. If a suitable program is chosen the enterprise will be therefore able to gain funds from the Grants of the European Union to finance its capital project. After selection of a proper program the capital project will be evaluated by means of standard methods of evaluating investments. The results of investment evaluation will help to make decision about which source of funds (own resources, loan or combination of both) is optimal in light of profitability and risk.

This diploma paper deals with measurement and management of corporate ICT costs and benefits. The main objective is to propose a set of metrics and dimensions, which can be used to measure performance of corporate ICT. Other objectives are: analyze ICT cost and benefits, describe methods of their management, introduce ValIT framework as an approach to acquiring benefits from IT investment. In order to meet all these objectives the paper is divided into three parts. In the first part basic principles of corporate IT economics and management are described. The second part is dedicated directly to ICT costs and benefits, and methods of their management. In the last part, ValIT and my set of metrics and dimensions are introduced. The main benefit of this work consists of the proposal of metrics and dimensions for corporate ICT performance measurement, and ICT costs and benefits detailed analysis.
