Implementation Efficiency Analysis of JIT Kanban System in Machinery and Equipment Manufacturing.Chen, Jyun-Liang 17 June 2011 (has links)
Most of machine industry in Taiwan use ¡§Build to order¡¨ which start the production process until receiving orders. The key of ¡§Build to order¡¨ can be successful or not is quickly response to demand changes. If the production system can¡¦t keep up with changes in customer demand, it won¡¦t be able to process successive demands. Then the backlog will be more and more. So in ¡§Build to order¡¨, whether production system can adjust for changes in customer demand quickly or not is an important issue of ¡§Build to order¡¨.
Kanban System is a mode of production which Toyota JIT system develops. It uses kanbans to control capacity of each workstation strictly. In order to achieve pull system, it uses kanbans to authorize production. Traditional push system must change production plans frequently, and maintain a certain stock between production processes. Pull system uses demands of back-end process to pull the production of front-end process. To achieve the so-called ¡§Just-in-Time¡¨ concept, the system must output the right number of products at the right time.
This study uses system dynamics. According to relevant literatures and models, this study constructs Kanban system with industrial properties. According to demand changes and number of kanbans, this study simulates and analyzes the effectiveness after implementing the Kanban system. Then this study makes some management recommendations.
Conclusions and findings:(1)Under the situation of normal demand changes, Kanban system can achieve quickly response and stability of production systems.(2) Under the situation of excessive changes in demand, implementing Kanban system will increase the backlog.(3)The number of kanbans represents production needs which are additional planned. The system should minimize the number of kanbans to avoid wastes.

competitive scenario are in conformity with the unfavorable conditions recognized for the use
of the kanban system and that, due to this, the use of this well-known Systems for
Coordination of Purchase and Production Orders (SCO) needs to be reviewed. Following, this
research aims to evaluate the evolution of the utilization of the kanban system and study the
adaptations made in its logic work to adjust it in face to the new conditions, and to evaluate
the advantages and disadvantages of these adaptations. First of all, literature reviews
regarding kanban system were made, and thirty three different adaptations were studied,
classified and analyzed. It was found that, among other topics, the development of the
adapted systems, in general, is in an initial stage, once the majority of the proposals are
theoretical and might be considered to generate more appropriated practical forms.
Afterwards, field research was realized, by means of a survey and case researches. In the
survey, it was selected a non-probabilistic sample of thirty companies from São Paulo State
that were implementing the kanban system in the beginning of the 90 s. It were identified 18
adaptations in practice in São Paulo State, however only 5 were analysed in the case studies.
Among the 18 adaptations, 7 follow the logic of the original system and 11 do not. Thereby, it
was proposed a procedure to evaluate the use of the kanban system in that industrial
companies by means of the original work characteristics, production environment conditions
and advantages of the system. The five adaptations analysed in the case studies have, as the
main change, the utilization of only one type of signal or card. It was also concluded, by the
use of the procedure, that the companies that use adaptations of the kanban system miss (in
larger or smaller degree, depending on the adaptation) the following advantages: efficient
production control; facility of problem causes identification; decrease of work in process;
decrease of the lead-times; decrease of the waste; empowerment; simplicity of the
administration mechanisms and efficient information control. / Este trabalho partiu da averiguação de que as mudanças recentes ocorridas no
cenário competitivo industrial correspondem às condições reconhecidamente desfavoráveis ao
uso do sistema kanban e que, devido a isso, o uso deste conhecido Sistema de Coordenação
de Ordens de Produção e Compra (SCO) precisa ser revisto. Com isso, este trabalho tem
como principais objetivos avaliar a evolução da utilização do sistema kanban e estudar as
adaptações efetuadas em sua lógica de funcionamento para a adequação deste sistema frente
às novas condições competitivas, bem como avaliar as vantagens e as desvantagens dessas
adaptações. Inicialmente foram realizadas revisões bibliográficas sobre o sistema kanban,
onde trinta e três adaptações diferentes foram identificadas, classificadas e analisadas.
Constatou-se, dentre outros pontos, que o desenvolvimento dos sistemas adaptados no geral
encontra-se numa fase inicial, uma vez que a maioria das propostas são apenas proposições
teóricas que devem ser levadas em consideração para a geração de formas mais apropriadas à
prática. Após isso, foram realizadas as pesquisas de campo, por meio de um survey e de
estudos de caso. No survey utilizou-se uma amostra não-probabilística de trinta empresas do
estado de São Paulo que estavam implantando o sistema kanban no início da década de
noventa. Foram identificadas 18 adaptações na prática sendo utilizadas por empresas
industriais no Estado de São Paulo, porém somente 5 foram analisadas à fundo nos estudos de
caso. Das 18 adaptações 7 seguem a lógica de funcionamento do sistema kanban original e 11
não seguem. Em função dos resultados encontrados no survey que demonstraram a existência
dessas adaptações, foi proposto um procedimento para avaliação da utilização do sistema
kanban em empresas industriais por meio do relacionamento entre características de
funcionamento original, condições do ambiente produtivo e vantagens do sistema. As cinco
adaptações estudadas nos estudos de caso possuem como principal alteração a utilização de
apenas um sinalizador. Foi concluído também, por meio da aplicação do procedimento, que as
empresas que utilizam adaptações do sistema kanban deixam de usufruir (em maior ou menor
grau, dependendo da adaptação) das seguintes vantagens: controle eficiente dos estágios
produtivos; facilita a identificação da raiz de problemas produtivos; redução dos níveis de
estoque; redução dos lead-times; redução de refugos e retrabalhos; atribuição de
empowerment aos operadores; simplificação dos mecanismos de administração; e controle
eficiente de informações.

Dynamika metodiky agilního projektového řízení Scrumban / Dynamics of agile project management methodology ScrumbanGrohoľ, Robert January 2013 (has links)
This thesis researches dynamics in projects managed by Scrumban. It describes the creation of system dynamics simulation model, which provides insight into the relationships between system components. It also presents data, that are further analysed with the purpose of discovering patterns in behaviour of project attributes in time, such as size of the product backlog, work in progress etc. The patterns are discovered and recommended parameter settings are provided so that there is no idle time or higher defect rate than necessary. Soft factors are also included in the model, namely the development team and the customer, which have a grand effect to the model behaviour. Managment flight simulator is developed, which provides the option to experiment even to users, who are not familiar with system dynamics modelling. The thesis consists of two parts. In the first part, necessary theory of project management, system dynamics and their fusion is provided. The second part is dedicated to the process of creating the simulation model, dynamic hypothesis formulation, mathematical modelling, testing and data analysis. In consideration of the analysis results, recommended policies are provided. Last pages of the thesis describe the user interface of management flight simulator and it's controls.

of the organization of the production control, if this department does not perform
adequately its functions will directly affect other sectors of the company, such as stocks,
production and financial sector. This research aims to structure and monitor the
implementation of the Kanban production model, integrating the existing MRP system
in a food industry to meet the peculiarities of lack and scarcity of semi-finished products
existing in the reality of the company. Using the references found in the literature and
adding the acquired knowledge by practical study from the research-action, this research
shows the development and deployment of a hybrid model. With this deployment, after
the cycles of action research, it was possible to see a reduction in the stock of semifinished
products at 25% and the value of capital employed at 24%, plus a reduction of
finished product shortage cuts at 73%, even with an increase of 15% in this volume.
From these results the hybrid model has become satisfactory to the company, since the
MRP system and the Kanban production model was integrated complementary, even
with the difficulty of the factory floor staff to follow the flow of the hybrid model of
PCP. / O departamento de Planejamento e Controle da Produção influencia diretamente na
gestão da organização do controle da produção, caso este departamento não
desempenhar adequadamente suas funções afetará diretamente outros setores da
empresa, como os estoques, a produção e o setor financeiro. Esta pesquisa tem como
objetivo estruturar e acompanhar a implantação do modelo Kanban de produção,
integrando ao sistema MRP já existente em uma indústria alimentícia, a fim de atender
as peculiaridades de falta e escassez de produtos semiacabados existentes na realidade
da empresa. Utilizando as referências encontradas na literatura e acrescentando o
conhecimento adquirido pelo estudo prático oriundo da pesquisa-ação, esta pesquisa
apresenta o desenvolvimento e a implantação de um modelo híbrido. Com esta
implantação, após os ciclos da pesquisa-ação, foi possível verificar uma redução do
estoque de semiacabados em 25% e o valor de capital empregado em 24%, além de uma
redução de cortes de faltas de produto acabado em 73%, mesmo com um aumento de
15% em seu volume. A partir destes resultados o modelo híbrido se tornou satisfatório
para a empresa, visto que o sistema MRP e o modelo Kanban de produção se integraram
de forma complementar, mesmo apresentando dificuldades pela equipe de chão de
fábrica de seguir o fluxo do modelo híbrido de PCP.

Förbättring av monteringsstation för plockningsroboten IRB 360 FlexPickerNisar, Asim January 2019 (has links)
This thesis is about product and process development. The thesis has been done at ABB Robotics AB in Västerås under 20 weeks with half study pace, which is equivalent to 15 higher education credits (15hp). Thesis purpose was to improve an assembly station for assembling of robot IRB 360. Problems at the assembly station are that there are some non-value-creating activities and assembling methods which correspond to low safety factor for workers. The focus of thesis was to investigate opportunities and to produce solid proposals for how to eliminate these problems. After a written contract with ABB AB, the work started with the planning with the company supervisor and Gantt Schema was created to schedule all steps for this project, to ensure during the process. The project has followed the methods described in the book "Produktutveckling konstruktion och design " by Karl T Ulrich & Steven D Eppinger. Product development tools like Quality function deployment (QFD), functional analysis, specification of requirement and Pugh's analysis matrix have been used in the development process. In the first phase of the project, observation and investigation has been performed to identify and analyse problems. In the later phases, ideas and concepts has created to solve the problems and achieve successful results. The result of the project is an improved material flow at assembling stations which eliminates nonvalue-creating activities and leads to better safety for workers. Another result of the project is an elimination of hand hammering at assembling station and for this purpose a new pressing tool has been developed for pressing down a seals around radial shaft in assembling process. The software Solidworks has been used to create a new 3D layout for the existing assembly station to understand and find the better solution for material flow. Solidworks is also used for doing Finite element method (FEM) analysis to validate the new developed pressing tool. / Detta examensarbete handlar om produkt och processutveckling. Arbetet utfördes hos ABB Robotics AB i Västerås och bedrivs under 20 veckor långt på halvfart vilket motsvarar 15 högskolepoäng. Uppdraget är att förbättra en monteringsstation för plockningsrobot IRB360 FlexPicker. Problem på monteringsstation är att det sker icke värdeskapande aktiviteter, och monteringsprocess som leder till arbetsmiljöproblem. Arbetet fokus var att undersöka möjligheter och ta fram konkreta förslag att hur man kan eliminera dessa problem. Efter skriftligt kontrakt med ABB AB, arbetet började med planeringen med företaget handledare och skapades Gantt Schema. Projektet har följt metoderna som beskrivs i boken ”Produktutveckling konstruktion och design” av författare Karl T Ulrich & Steven D Eppinger. I utvecklingsprocessen har använt produktutvecklingsverktyg, några av dessa är QFD, funktionsanalys, kravspecifikation och Pughs analysmatris. I första fas av projekt gjorde undersökning och observation för att hitta och analysera problem. I senare faserna genererade koncepter för åtgärden och sedan vidare utvecklades utvalda koncept för nå framgångsrikt resultat. Resultatet av arbetet blev förbättrad materialflöde som eliminerar icke värdeskapande aktiviteter. Dessutom utvecklades fram ett nytt pressverktyg som eliminerar arbetsmiljöproblem. Mjukvaran Solidworks har använt för att skapa en ny layout för monteringsstation. Med hjälp av Solidworks gjordes FEM -analys (Finita elementmetoden) för att validera den nya pressverktyg
