This diploma thesis is exploring the topic of legitimacy and legality of the royal power in the late English and French Middle Ages. Specifically, it answers the question whether Edward IV and Charles VII were legitimate kings for their respective subjects, based on analysis and comparison of selected contemporaneous English and French sources. This thesis presents different points of view on the royal power and the royal office according to the medieval authors. It describes the often ambiguous and contradictory opinions on this issue as well as provides a deeper look at the traditions and customs surrounding it. This analysis is presented against the historical backdrop of prolonged armed conflicts and political changes in both kingdoms. The differences between the legal and political situation of Charles VII and Edward IV suggest a wide range of possible interpretations. This thesis, based on the critical analysis and comparison of the relevant historical sources, advocates the view supporting the legitimacy of both kings, based on their respective genealogical and legal claims as well as on the support granted by their subjects. This diploma thesis deals with 70s and 80s in 17the century in England. During this period of the reign of Charles II Stuart comes to the forefront the question of succession, which culminated in the so-called exclusion crisis (1679-1681). The thesis will try to outline in seven chapters, including the introduction and conclusion, the development of the crisis of succession associated with the person of James, Duke of York. The first part of the work will focus on the period before the exclusion crisis and will highlight important moments such as the approval of the Test Act or the Popish Plot. Another part of the thesis will deal with the period of crisis itself until the dissolution of the last Exclusion Parliament in Oxford in 1681 and the defeat the Whig party. The last chapter will close the whole question of succession in 1685, the death of Charles II Stuart and the advent of James II to the English throne.

This diploma thesis analyses the debates of the two candidates who passed to the second round of the Czech direct presidential election in 2013. Primarily focuses on the debates in the public service media - Czech Television and Czech Radio. To put into context the whole campaign will briefly examine the debates on commercial TV stations as well. The thesis applies content analysis as the methodology. It measures how often both candidates (Miloš Zeman and Karel Schwarzenberg) mentioned their officially declared programme theses in a total of six debates on television and radio. The campaign is also presented more broadly in order to put the analysis into a wider context. Only programmes officially designated will be considered for the analysis so as to secure its accuracy. A quantitative analysis of the content will be applied in order to measure the frequency of programme theses in the debates researched. The principal goal of the thesis is to confirm or disconfirm the hypothesis that programme theses do not play such an important role in a political campaign in general, nor in candidate debates. I focus on the aspect of how different debates were and in which type of media presidential candidates presented the higher number of their programme theses.

Abstract This thesis focuses on the situation of a substantial subject in the historical development of the surrealist experience and confronts it with our original postmodern interpretation of thoughts of early Marx. The surrealist consciousness is based on a dialectical opposition between rational and irrational elements of cognitive processes. André Breton apprehends this dialectics under the perspective of love life and relates it to values of love, freedom and poetry. Nevertheless, this conception changes in the immanent development of the surrealist consciousness from Breton over the work and thoughts Salvador Dalí and Mikuláš Medek to Vratislav Effenberger. Effenberger removes positive values from surrealism and puts emphasis on the critical functions of the irrational. On the psychological field, all these ideas are based on the conception of the unconscious which means there is the substantial approach in them. The Master thesis has for its objective mapping of destiny of czech comunity in Paris from sixties to eighties. Its purpose is not to get a complete list of all artists, who came to Paris. It's just a sellection of those important persons, who broke through Paris. The personal interviews play an important part of the sources. The thesis is not structured in medallion-biography way, but it is lined up in a thematic way. Most of the artists handled in their new home country withe similar problems and situations. First theoretical part characterise the period, the environment, the czech-french relations and the general phenomena of emigration in the czech historical memory. In sixties the czech-french relations started to be reanimated and many french art critics visited Czechoslovakia and they wrote about czech art. Beside France, the czech emigration refuged in sixties largely to West Germany, United States of America, Canada, austrian Wien, Swiss and nordic countries. Individuals art centres were connected to others by friendships and artists visited themselves. Second and more extensive part of the thesis works with the oral and witten interviews. This dissertation has two main aims. The first is to describe or specify the poetics of "own" and "foreign" space in literary work in general and in the fairy tales of K. J. Erben, the Grimm brothers, B. Němcová or L. Bechstein; the second is to analyse and compare the poetics in three spatial pairs the "own" and "foreign" spaces in relation to the main character of the above-mentioned fairy tales representing, namely in the spaces of home and journey, the living and the dead or welfare and poverty. This dissertation is dealing with the town of Telč and its way of living in the first half of the 20th century. The research is focused on the thorough analysis of local authorities from the social and occupational point of view, territorial origin and location of residence its various fellows. The main purpose of this is to idicate the changes which coincided with the influence of nationwide political, social and economic changes. The illustration of six Telč´s families with various professions charts their share which affected the social, cultural and public life of the town. The aim is to get an integral view of this period, therefore the grammar school staff have been included, because of their participatory role in local authorities and social life as well. Municipal and school celebrations have been included to illustrate the cultural backround of provincial town in the first half of the 20th century.

In the 1960s Czechoslovak Airlines (ČSA) set up offices in the countries to which they operated regular flights. ČSA branches abroad were to match high standards of other airlines premises. In those years travelling by air was still regarded a luxury. ČSA had to take these facts into consideration. The same group of architects, designers and artists who participated in the design of ČSA branch offices took also part in the outline of the new Prague Ruzyně international airport checking-in hall. This thesis aims to depict some former, now vanished, ČSA premises. In the 1990s ČSA closed down some offices abroad and the Prague Ruzyně international airport checking- in hall (now Terminal 1) was completely reconstructed. Press and other articles, archive documents, monographies as well as information provided directly by architects, designers and artists or their relatives were used in order to describe some previous ČSA publicly accessible premises and works of art that they included. On the basis of ascertained facts, it is obvious that in the 1960s ČSA offices abroad were not only to promote the good company reputation but further fulfilled a political role to create a positive picture of the Czechoslovak Republic. This master thesis deals with the spiritual progress pointing to a national self-awareness in the Enlightenment era from the beginning until 1848. The Enlightenment is an European phenomenon, which is characterized by a change of thinking, and self-awareness. This idea of tolerance and human emancipation contributed to the reforms of fundamental social, political and ecclesiastical changes. These changes result not only from a philosophical influences, but also from royal reforms during the reign of Maria Theresa and Joseph II in particular. This diploma thesis deals with the theatricality of Milada Horáková and company trial and its theatrical reflections. In this thesis, the political trial is regarded as an ideological fiction on the grounds of the ritual and theatrical character. The dramas, which are inspired with this trial, are interpreted in the following chapters. First of them, it deals with Pařeniště by E. F. Burian in the context of the socialist realism, which was put on the stage in a short time after this trial. It paid attention to re-putting on the stage in 2008 as well. The last part of this thesis deals with contemporary productions, which are inspired with this trial (Horáková, Gottwald by Karel Steigerwald and opera Tomorrow will... by Aleš Březina and Jiří Nekvasil), which depict absurdity and bizzare atmosphere of this trial.
