Credit rating z pohledu práva a ekonomie / Credit rating from the perspective of law and economics

Belvončíková, Barbora January 2017 (has links)
Credit rating is an important financial indicator of the debtor's ability to repay the debt duly and on time and it is expressed in a simple form of credit score. It has been talked about the issue of credit rating particularly in context of the financial crisis 2008 because of the failure of credit rating agencies and their contribution to global dimensions of the crisis. This thesis critically assesses the European legal regulation of credit rating in the light of 2008 financial crisis. The evaluation is carried through an economic analysis of law while also using the knowledge of behavioural economics, so that efficiency of both individual provisions and legal regulation as a whole is examined. The fundamental problem of current regulation is its ambiguity, as on the one hand it promotes greater institutionalization of credit rating and on the other hand it promotes greater market discipline of financial market participants. This dichotomy is inefficient because it does not provide for clear incentives neither for investors, nor for issuers or credit rating agencies. Key finding of this thesis is that credit rating regulation would be more efficient if it was aimed exclusively at supporting market discipline. It is important to draw conclusions from analysis of the efficiency of current...

Analýza postavení a činnosti Mezinárodního měnového fondu ve světové ekonomice / Analysis of the position and operations of the International monetary fund in the global economy

Hromádka, Jan January 2007 (has links)
The thesis analyzes how IMFs operations transformed as the changes took place in the global economy after world war two. Policy and means used by IMF to achieve its purposes are examined focusing on their effectiveness. The analysis illustrates an apparent change in the role the institution is playing in the global economy. In the first three decades after the world war two the IMFs key role was to maintain surveillance over the rules of the monetary system established at international financial conference in Bretton Woods. The introduction of floating exchange rate systems in developed countries, oil crisis and independence of many African countries caused a shift in IMFs main focus towards developing countries, long-term financing and technical assistance. The analysis concludes that the institution was only in part successful in its mission to maintain global economic stability only in part. In the nineties it reacted promptly to financial crisis by introduction of new facilities and by activating in coordination with other global players of large financial support for the affected countries. However in the period before the financial crisis occurred more attention IMF should have given more attention to precautionary measures eliminating the risks associated with capital volatility.

It follows especially the course and consequences of the crisis in Czechoslovakia. There are still many questions about this event and economists of whole world have never agreed on the only explanation, which could describe and solve all the causes and circumstances of Great Depression. In addition, there are also many views that the crisis had influence not only in economic sphere, but also had the social and political impacts. First part deals with international connections of Great Depression and searches causations of crisis in economic theory and describes the birth of Great Depression in United States. Second and third parts analyze the beginning and running of the crisis in Czechoslovakia and deal with particular sections of economy. The fourth part summaries economic and political effects of the crisis in Czechoslovakia and shows how the country faced up to depression.
