Growth Of Capitalism:how Does Innovation Reinforce Capitalism In The Progress Of Its Authority?

Kahraman, Omer Ersin 01 August 2010 (has links) (PDF)
The main aim of this thesis is to discuss the role of innovation in the capitalist mode of production so as to achieve the domination of capitalism in the human world by capitalizing it. The idea of freedom is handled as a reason for politics when one confronts another in this quest. Process innovations are accepted as methods of improving the profitability of production which deprives dispossessed masses from their productive power outside the workplace while product innovation is claimed to be the process of improving profitability of consumption which results in increased intervention of capitalism in the relation between the human being and his wants through pacification. Thus, as capitalism continues growing, it becomes more a mediator between the human being and materials, which gives it more authority in society.

Den stolte bilbyggaren : En studie om lönearbetets betydelse för delaktighet och identitet / The proud carbuilder : A study regarding the importance of labor work for participation and identity

Norlander, Ludvig January 2012 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to find, understand and discuss the experiences of former employees at SAAB, and present how this can be understood according to my core theoretical concepts, which are participation and identity. The questions asked in the study are based on how the labor is described, characterized and what comes forth as valuable, which is compared to absence of labor work. First, labor is described in an historical and social context, and at the same time related to the core theoretical concept. Second, the methodology chapter is presented, which mainly consists of 11 observations and 10 interviews. Third, the chapter regarding former theory leads to an analysis model, which is used on the empirical material of the study. The result shows that labor work at SAAB primarily is described as important for socializing, security and the possibility to be independent. The tasks at SAAB are described as backbreaking and monotonous, while the lack of labor work influences the physical and mental wellbeing. Unemployment also contributes to limitations in everyday life, and in addition, creates negative feelings and experiences due to lack of control in a new and changed world. In summary, the empirical and theoretical analysis taken together leads to the conclusion that labor work at SAAB is substantially described as positive, but there are however, parts which are less positive. Another conclusion is that lack of labor work primarily can be described as negative, but the opposite is also discernible. A third conclusion is that labor work is important for the understanding of participation and identity. When using the theoretical analysis model on the results given in the empirical material, three participation- and identity patterns can be found. These are then contextual and temporal, due to time and situation; the stabile and secure pattern, the loose and temporary pattern and the compensating and regenerative pattern. At the end of the essay there is an overall and concluding discussion regarding the findings in relation to context and society and which significance this may have on social pedagogy and its practice. Finally there is a brief section with reflections regarding the conducted study and perspectives on research to come.

The causes and processes of rural-urban migration in 19th and early 20th century India : the case of Ratnagiri district

Yamin, G. M. January 1991 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to investigate the reasons for the growth of large scale labour migration from Ratnagiri district during the nineteenth century. It is argued firstly that for an understanding of the origins of migration from Ratnagiri it is necessary to investigate the socio-economic structure of the district, since exogenous demand for labour cannot explain many aspects of the pattern of migration from Ratnagiri, nor can it explain the high rate of migration compared to other areas with similar access to labour markets. It is argued that regional and gender patterns of migration from Ratnagiri can be partly explained by the structure of demand for labour within the district; but that the scale of migration can most convincingly be explained in terms of the acute poverty of sections of the rural population. It is argued that this poverty cannot be ascribed to demographic pressure in the early nineteenth century, since population in the district did not rise rapidly until migration was already underway. It is instead suggested that the poverty of many cultivators in the earlier nineteenth century was an outcome of the spread of a village zamindari system in Ratnagiri during the late eighteenth century, the impact of which was intensified by legal changes introduced under British rule; the consequent concentration of landholding in the hands of the village zamindars led to higher exactions on the lower caste cultivators, which stimulated emigration in the mid nineteenth century. Furthermore, it is suggested that the land tenure system was at the root of the problems of agricultural development which the district faced later in the nineteenth century. When population rose In the mid nineteenth century, the extension of cultivation put pressure on the fragile ecology of the district, which led to rapid deforestation and falling yields per acre. it is argued that though cultivation intensified In Ratnagiri during the later nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, the output per head nonetheless probably fell, and the system of land tenure discouraged the adoption of many strategies which might have raised output per head, thus perpetuating the poverty which, it is argued, lay at the root of out-migration from Ratnagiri.

Os novos cenários construídos pela ofensiva neoliberal expressa da Previdência na agenda da Fiocruz pós 1990 / New scenarios for the neoliberal offensive occurried of the welfare and the impacts of Fiocruz

Maria Virginia Motta Brandão 08 July 2006 (has links)
During the last decads of the past century, the matter of converted welfare in a fundamental theme of the world policy agenda has become one of the main target on the offensive restored of the enoliberalism. Labor, Leisure And Freedom In The Philosophies Of Aristotle, Karl Marx And Herbert Marcuse

Kilinc, Dogan Baris 01 September 2006 (has links) (PDF)
The aim of this study is to present an examination of the philosophies of Aristotle, Karl Marx and Herbert Marcuse concerning labor and leisure in the context of freedom. These philosophers have paid attention to the concepts labor and leisure / their view of freedom is dependent on the relationship they have established between labor and leisure. To this end, I firstly give a general overview of the concepts labor, leisure and freedom / afterwards, I try to show how these concepts have been considered in the history of thought. I examine the concepts labor and leisure in Aristotle&rsquo / s political and ethical thought. I discuss the connection between Aristotle&rsquo / s perfect state and his view of ethics in the context of labor and leisure, and the relation between best way of life and freedom in Aristotle is presented. Next, I analyze Karl Marx&rsquo / s view of human nature and his theory of estrangement. I investigate the condition of labor and leisure in the capitalist society from Marx&rsquo / s point of view / and consider Marxian conceptions &ldquo / the realm of freedom&rdquo / and &ldquo / the realm of necessity&rdquo / is considered in context of labor and leisure. Lastly, I analyze Herbert Marcuse&rsquo / s critique of the advanced industrial society and the thoughts on &ldquo / one dimensional man&rdquo / it creates. I dwelled on the possibilities of technological developments, and the changes they bring about concerning labor and leisure, both as means of servitude and freedom. In the conclusion, I give a brief summary, and consider the similarities and differences among the views of Aristotle, Karl Marx and Herbert Marcuse concerning labor, leisure and freedom.
