Une préoccupation quant au bien-être et à la qualité de vie des enfants en relation avec leur vécu scolaire grandit au cœur des politiques gouvernementales et lors du choix scolaire surtout à l’entrée au primaire. Les parents se tournent plus qu’avant vers des environnements éducationnels alternatifs correspondant à leurs valeurs. Puisque chaque environnement éducationnel modèle différemment le quotidien de l’élève et qu’il manquerait d’outils de mesure adaptés aux enfants pour évaluer leur effet sur la qualité de vie, nous posons cette question: quelles sont les dimensions de la qualité de vie liée au vécu scolaire de l’élève (QDV-vs) de six à huit ans et comment la mesurer?
La littérature scientifique fait ressortir des dimensions du quotidien du jeune élève pouvant avoir un effet sur sa qualité de vie: heures de sommeil, périodes d’activité physique et de jeux libres à l’extérieur, capacité d’attention pour des tâches scolaires (de jour et de soir), engagement parental et déplacements pour l’école. En s’appuyant sur les différentes recommandations des chercheurs, nous avons modélisé le concept de la QDV-vs pour les enfants de ce groupe d’âge.
Les objectifs spécifiques de cette recherche sont d’élaborer un outil d’évaluation, basé sur notre cadre conceptuel, puis de le valider sur les plans conceptuels et de la faisabilité. Des experts scientifiques et de terrain ont contribué à cette recherche-développement. Les premiers ont porté un regard critique sur le cadre conceptuel et sur l’outil; les seconds, sur les aspects pratiques de l’utilisation de l’outil révisé. La contribution de cette recherche est d’offrir un premier outil d’évaluation de la QDV-vs des enfants de 6 à 8 ans dans différents environnements éducationnels. / Concern for the well-being and quality of life of children in relation to their school experience grows at the heart of government policies and during school choice, especially at the start of primary school. Parents are turning more than before to alternative educational environments that match their values. Since each educational environment models the student's daily life differently and there is a lack of measures adapted to children that would assess their effect on quality of life, we ask this question: what are the dimensions of the quality of life linked to the school experience (QDV-vs) of students aged six to eight and how to measure it? Scientific literature highlights the dimensions of the daily life of young students that can influence their quality of life: hours of sleep, periods of physical activity and free play outside, ability to concentrate on school tasks (from day and evening), parental involvement and school commutes. Based on the various recommendations of the researchers, we modeled the concept of QOL-vs for children in this age group.
The specific objectives of this research are to develop an assessment tool, based on our conceptual framework, and then to validate it on the conceptual and feasibility levels. Scientific and field experts have contributed to this research and development. The first took a critical look at the conceptual framework and the tool; the second, on the practical aspects of using the revised tool. The contribution of this research is to provide a first tool for assessing the quality of life of children aged 6 to 8 in different educational environments.

The relationship between organisational resources and organisational performance in a national government departmentMafini, Chengedzai 01 1900 (has links)

(Business, Faculty of Management Sciences), Vaal University of Technology / Organisational performance in the public sector has emerged as a critical topic in the post-1994 era in South Africa. This could ostensibly be attributed to the inability of the majority of most public organisations in the country to deliver a satisfactory standard of service to the public. An intense controversy has also emerged the world over on the selection of performance measures that are appropriate for use in public organisations. This debate is actuated by the existence of a multiplicity of performance measurement indices as well as frameworks that can be applied to manage performance in organisations. The existence of these multiple measurement mechanisms tends to confound the entire process of managing organisational performance. Another unresolved controversy focuses on the extent to which various organisational resources impact on organisational performance.
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between organisational performance and three organisational resources; specifically, the human factor, organisational systems and organisational processes. A quantitative design was adopted in which a survey questionnaire was administered to 272 managers and employees of a South African National Government Department. Respondents were selected using a blend of purposive sampling and convenience sampling approaches. Data were analysed using the Statistical Packages for the Social Sciences (SPSS version 20.0). Reliabilities were measured using Cronbach’s alpha coefficient. Exploratory factor analysis was used to identify the human factors, organisational systems and organisational processes. Spearman’s correlation and multiple linear regression analyses were used to investigate the relationship between organisational performance and the sub-elements under each of the three organisational resources. The impacts of each of the three factors on organisational performance were compared using the mean-score ranking technique. Performance of the National Government Department was measured using the four performance yardsticks of the Balanced Scorecard; namely, customer satisfaction, financial performance, innovation and learning, and internal processes
The findings of the study revealed that performance of the National Government Department was highest in four strategic areas; which are the promotion of good corporate ethics and values, client satisfaction, service quality and relations with external organisations. However, performance shortfalls were observed in four key areas; namely, organisational speed, attrition of manpower, overloading of employees and the overburdening of divisions with high workloads. Correlation analysis showed that there were positive relationships between organisational performance and the five human factor components; life satisfaction, quality of work life, ability utilisation, creativity and autonomy. Regression analysis indicated that there were significant and predictive relationships between organisational performance and three human factor elements; namely, quality of work life, ability utilisation and life satisfaction. Among the five human factor elements, life satisfaction exerted the greatest impact on organisational performance. Significant, positive and predictive associations were also found between organisational performance and three organisational system factors; quality, innovation and inter-organisational systems, with quality exerting the greatest impact on organisational performance. Significant, positive and predictive relationships were further observed between organisational performance and the four organisational process factors identified in the study; namely, organisational structure, organisational change, team processes and organisational change. Among these, team processes exerted the greatest influence on organisational performance. Overall, the human factor applied the greatest impact on organisational performance, followed by organisational processes with organisational systems having the least impact. Based on these findings, recommendations were made and implications for further studies were suggested.
The findings of the study provide empirical confirmation of the effectiveness of the Balanced Scorecard as a tool for the measurement and management of performance in public sector organisations. Additionally, managers in different public organisations may enhance the performance of their organisations by optimising the sub-elements of the three organisational resources examined in this study.

Dual earner parents have become the norm in today’s workplace (Weigel, Weigel, Berger, Cook, & Delcampo, 1995). Dual earner parents face many challenging roles that they have to try to balance; these include being a parent, spouse, employee, being involved in religious practices and juggling domestic responsibilities. According to Duxbury and Higgins (1991), it is very difficult for such parents to balance their various roles and multiple demands. All these challenging demands (home characteristics) can cause nonwork–interference which can, in turn, lead to well–being problems (Magnus & Viswesvaran, 2005).
The general objective of this study is to investigate the home characteristics, nonwork–work interference and well–being of a sample of dual earner parents. A convenience sample of dual earner parents (N=207) was taken in the Vaal Triangle area in Gauteng. The following scales was used within this study: the Home Demands Scale (Peeters et al., 2005), Home Resources Scale (Demerouti et al., 2010); the Work–nonwork Interference Scale (Koekemoer, Mostert, & Rothmann, 2010); the General Health Questionnaire (GHQ) (Goldberg, & Williams, 1988); and the OLBI (Oldenburg Burnout Inventory) Scale measuring exhaustion, Cognitive weariness (Van Horn et al., 2004); and life satisfaction (Diener et al., 1985).
Descriptive statistics, Cronbach alpha coefficients, product moment correlations and multiple regression analyses were used to analyse the data. The results indicated that emotional home demands and lack of autonomy significantly predict physical ill health; emotional home demands and spouse–work interference significantly predict anxiety; and emotional home demands significantly predict depression. Gender, home pressure, developmental possibilities and parent–work interference were, in turn, significant predictors of exhaustion.
Recommendations were made for future research and also, on a more practical level, for dual earner parents. One of the recommendations is that one needs to investigate the possible cross–over and spillover effects of work–nonwork interference between wives and husbands. Объем магистерской диссертации 114 страниц, на которых размещены 14 рисунков и 18 таблиц.
Во введении раскрывается актуальность проблемы исследования, разработанность проблематики, ставятся цель и задачи исследования, определяются объект и предмет исследования, формулируется и конкретизируется гипотеза, указываются методы и эмпирическая база, а также этапы проведения исследования, научная новизна, теоретическая и практическая значимость работы. Первая глава включает в себя обзор иностранной и отечественной литературы по теме счастья, субъективного благополучия, психологического благополучия, отношения к смерти. Представлен раздел, посвященный исследованию связи уровня счастья и психологического благополучия с отношением к смерти. Выводы по первой главе представляют собой итоги по изучению теоретического материала. Вторая глава посвящена эмпирической части исследования. В ней представлено описание организации и методов проведенного исследования и результатов, полученных по всем использованным методикам: «Обновленный Оксфордский опросник счастья (Oxford Happiness Inventory)»; «Шкала психологического благополучия К. Рифф» в адаптации Л.В. Жуковской, Е.Г. Трошихиной; опросник Отношение к смерти» И.Ю. Кулагиной, Л.В. Сенкевич; опросник «Отношение к смерти» К.А. Чистопольской и соавт. Также в главе представлен сравнительный и корреляционный анализ результатов исследования. Выводы по главе 2 включают в себя основные результаты эмпирического исследования. The subject of the study is the connection between happiness and psychological well-being of a person with his attitude towards death. The master's thesis consists of an introduction, two chapters, a conclusion, a list of references (69 sources) and an appendix, which includes data on the average and standard deviation for the parameters under study, indicators of asymmetry and kurtosis, results of a comparative analysis, forms of the methods used. The volume of the master's thesis is 114 pages, which contain 14 figures and 18 tables. The introduction reveals the relevance of the research problem, the development of the problematics, sets the goal and objectives of the study, defines the object and subject of the study, formulates and concretizes the hypothesis, indicates the methods and empirical base, as well as the stages of the study, scientific novelty, theoretical and practical significance of the work.
The first chapter includes a review of foreign and domestic literature on the topic of happiness, subjective well-being, psychological well-being, and attitudes towards death. A section devoted to the study of the relationship between the level of happiness and psychological well-being and attitudes towards death is presented. The conclusions on the first chapter are the results of the study of theoretical material. The second chapter is devoted to the empirical part of the study. It presents a description of the organization and methods of the study and the results obtained by all methods used: "Updated Oxford Happiness Inventory"; "Scale of psychological well-being K. Riff" adapted by L.V. Zhukovskaya, E.G. Troshikhina; Questionnaire Attitude towards death” I.Yu. Kulagina, L.V. Senkevich; questionnaire "Attitude towards death" K.A. Chistopolskaya et al. The chapter also presents a comparative and correlation analysis of the results of the study. Chapter 2's conclusions include the main findings of the empirical study. In the conclusion, the results of the theoretical and empirical parts of the work are summarized, as well as conclusions on the hypothesis put forward, the practical significance of the study is substantiated, and possible prospects for further development of this issue are described.
