L’insatisfaction chez Emma Bovary et Gustave Flaubert

Soulimani, Ikram January 2018 (has links)
This memoir aims to highlight the origin of the dissatisfaction of Emma Bovary and the reason why Flaubert chose this unsatisfied character. For this we have based our research on the socio-historical and psychological context of Emma Bovary to determine the origin of this feeling. We try to highlight the condition of women in the nineteenth century to see how their condition in the nineteenth century played a role in this situation. We analyse the character of madame Bovary: her education, her dreams and her marriage with Charles. It is a question of showing if the education and the entourage of this woman have an influence on her capricious personality by which she always tries to satisfy her body and her soul. A biographical approach of the author is necessary to demonstrate the probable reasons which pushed Flaubert to choose the unsatisfied character of his heroine.

Axelsson, Magnus January 2020 (has links)

Capitalism, Animal's Eyes, and the Environment : An essay about the environmental effects of industrial capitalism in Indra Sinha’s Animal’s People

Lindström, Viktor January 2021 (has links)
This essay explores the correlation between industrial capitalism and environmental damage in Indra Sinha’s Animal’s People. The thesis argues that the grave pollution of land, water, and people in the novel stems from capitalistic exploitation of biophysical resources. The novel is analyzed through an ecocritical perspective with eco-Marxism and Social Ecology as the main tools for the analysis. The main findings are that it is capitalistic values, where money and influence are prioritized over the environment, that are depicted as the fundamental reason behind the contamination in Khaufpur. The essay also includes a pedagogical section where Animal’s People is suggested as a basis for an environmental education agenda in a Swedish EFL classroom. The focus would be how environmental pollution may be related to industrial capitalism and to discuss the student’s own thoughts and reflections regarding the issue.

Using Swedish (L1) in the English (L2) Classroom : A study examining how much, when, and why teachers use Swedish in the English classroom

Svensk, Rebecka January 2020 (has links)
The present study examined how much, when, and why six Swedish primary school teachers use Swedish when it comes to teaching English as a second language to students in years 4-5. This study also aimed to answer whether the L1 use is affected by the teacher’s education, experience, or confidence, and how the L1 use differed between years 4-5, if at all. In summary, the study showed that the participating teachers used a small amount of Swedish in the English classroom. The use was not unnecessary; it was used with a purpose in mind. Although there were some signs of guilt as a result of using L1, the teachers were not reluctant to use it. The teaching was influenced by the sociocultural theory, communicative language teaching, and cooperative learning; all theories and approaches promoting active learners and scaffolding. L1 was seen as a learning and teaching tool to help increase students’ comprehension, reduce anxiety, and enhance L2 acquisition. All teachers agreed that L1 needs to be balanced and adapted to fit the learners’ comprehension. There was no evidence of L1 use being affected by the teachers’ education, experience, or confidence; as well as no evidence of differences between years 4 and 5. Further observations would have to be made to conclude whether the L1 use differs for the above mentioned reasons. /
Godkänt datum 2020-01-19

Post-Apocalyptic Language and Gender Aspects in McCarthy’s The Road: “The Sacred Idiom Shorn of Its Referents”

Hänninen, Helena January 2019 (has links)
This essay studies Cormac McCarthy´s The Road from a critical feminist perspective in order to suggest a new theoretical interpretation for this widely discussed novel. The essay analyses the way language in the novel reflects existing Western phallocentric thought, and its possible fall as the world in the novel has disappeared simultaneously giving emergence to a different kind of logos. By applying Luce Irigaray´s and Hélène Cixous´ critical feminist theories it can be argued that there is a development from a patriarchal Western logocentric tradition with its masculine world order and logos that slowly disappear towards another kind of order. There is an allusion to a new language. In the novel world has gone under due to some kind of ecological disaster, a couple, the father and the son are struggling through the devastated landscape. The mother in the story has committed suicide and even the language is disappearing and since all its referents are gone. Since the world and the language are gone together with them the Western logocentric tradition is abolished. The boy in the story has been born after the devastation, he is free from the old civilization and with the appearance of the new family and mother there is a possibility for renewal in “a world in it beginning” as the last poetic lines of the novel read.

Vad de borde få veta : Emokognition i gymnasieskolans svenskämne

Larsson, Peter January 2020 (has links)
