Diploma thesis "The journalist in regional newspapers as a specific journalistic profession in Ústí region" deals with the working and status differences of regional journalists, whose occupation is believed as a specific kind of journalism. This thesis is mainly concentrated on the area of getting information and working with them, it is also focused on problems and difficulties of regional journalism, the role of journalists, their relationship to the local area and as well their moral level. Last, but not least this thesis brings the sociological profile of regional journalists in Ústí region. On the basis of a research which consists of disinterested observation and a research via questioning in seven newsrooms of Vltava-Labe-Press company newspapers, it shows the picture of margin journalists who have to fight with bad reputation in a long term. One part o this thesis is also a historical divagation to the development of regional press in the Czech Republic in the area of Ústí region and the stormy property changes which happened in the 90's of 20th century as well.

Blueprint for an Embedded Researcher-led Transformation of a Large Community Hospital into a Learning Health Centre

DiDiodato, Giulio January 2018 (has links)
There is a pandemic of low-value clinical care that threatens the sustainability of our publicly funded healthcare systems. Over 30% of the health services provided to patients provide no benefit or may actually result in harm. Health services research is needed to critically evaluate our clinical practices and programs to ensure we create systems that consistently deliver high-value care. Unlike drug trials, health services research is complicated by enormous heterogeneity across cultures, environments, behaviours and systems. Ideally, local research communities should devise and conduct health services research to ensure that both the research questions and outcomes are relevant to community members, and thus more likely to result in sustainable healthcare systems. Embedded researcher models are emerging as a viable approach to supporting local research activities. Embedded researchers are part of the community they serve, provide research expertise to local investigators and community members, and help develop local research systems that facilitate health services research activities. While they may still collaborate with academic partners, this is not necessary for their research success. This thesis documents the transformation of a large community hospital in Ontario into a learning health centre through the use of an embedded researcher model. The first part of the thesis is focused on the results of incorporating an embedded research plan into the hospital’s new antimicrobial stewardship program. The research that emerges from this work contributes new knowledge about the value of antimicrobial stewardship to important patient outcomes such as reduced lengths of hospital stay and rates of Clostridium difficile infections. The thesis concludes with a discussion of the implementation of all the necessary components needed to support a learning health centre and how an embedded researcher model facilitated this transformation and could be used by any similar organization to achieve the same result. / Thesis / Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) / Over 30% of the health services provided by our healthcare systems does not benefit and may actually harm patients. Health services research is therefore a necessary activity required to reduce this waste. In Ontario, over 65% of patients receive their acute care in large community-based hospitals, and yet, these hospitals have minimal research activity and capacity despite repeated attempts by the academic research community to engage these institutions through a variety of collaborative models such as integrated knowledge translation. This thesis provides a blueprint for the transformation of a large community hospital into a learning health centre through the use of a locally created, locally relevant, embedded researcher model. Starting with a proof of concept through the systematic evaluation of an antimicrobial stewardship program, the thesis ends with a ‘how to’ guide for the implementation of the foundational elements needed to support health services research in similar organizations.

It happens because the so-called agencies of fomentation are used to identifying the demand of information at a national or state level, based on researches with a broader universe. Herewith, they identify general necessities that lack details. Thus, the information produced does not fit to the real needs of the array of small local businesses. Such situation can explain the existence of a great number of small businesses that lack information and are low in performance. But the identification of the demand of information can be implemented, with greater quality and scientific accuracy, by the universities. Since they are closer to the small businesses, the former joins more conditions to support the latter. This paper has as a purpose analysing the demand of information of the segment of the restaurants in the city of Serop?dica, measuring their inclination in using the information in a distinctive way and verifying the extent of the acceptance of this kind of business in having the local university as a consultant organ. All seventeen restaurants in Serop?dica were visited. They were given a questionnaire containing three parts, which made it possible to get the desired information previously mentioned. The questions were multiple-choice, and the ones about the extent of the acceptance of the restaurants at the university and the inclination in using the information in a distinctive and competitive way were structured according to the /Likert scale for measuring attitudes. The results made it clear that, in relation to the demand of information, there are differences in comparison to the demand diagnosed by CNI/SENAI in 1996. They also show that the low propensity in using the information in a strategic way and the great acceptance of the university as a consultant organ. Considering the results obtained, some recommendations were made to the local university in the sense of producing the necessary information to supply the identified demand and implement similar researches in other segments of the local commerce.

A model to facilitate research uptake in health care practice and policy development

Sigudla, Jerry 05 1900 (has links)
Despite the availability of numerous models for knowledge translation into practice and policy, research uptake remains low in resource-limited countries. This study was aimed at developing a model to facilitate research uptake in healthcare practice and policy development. The study used a two-phase exploratory sequential approach (QUAL→QUAN). Qualitative data were collected through semi-structured interviews with a total of 21 participants, categorised as researchers (6), frontline workers/practitioners (7), programme/policy managers (4), and directors/senior managers (4) from government, private sector and academic institutions of higher learning (universities and colleges). Quantitative data were collected through an online cross-sectional survey, administered to 212 respondents who conducted research studies in the Mpumalanga Province between 2014 to 2019. The most significant findings seem to be lack of awareness of research findings and champions to lead engagements among research stakeholders on research uptake. In addition, the research has established a failure by researchers to align public health research projects to existing local contexts and available resources. Conversely, there is a growing propensity of using informal research without consideration of data quality issues. It was further observed that establishing and sustaining beneficial collaboration between all research stakeholders is required to promote effective research uptake for practice and policy development. The survey results established a total of 13 components: four individual factors (support, experience, motivation & time factor); four organisational factors (research agenda, funding, resources & partnerships), and five research characteristics factors (gatekeeping, local research committees, accessibility of evidence, quality of evidence & critical appraisal skills). However, the Spearman’s correlation coefficient revealed that of the 13 factors, only six factors had a significant positive correlation with research uptake, namely: support, experience, motivation, time factor, resources, and critical appraisal skills. Consequently, a model for institutionalising research uptake is proposed. The roles of local research committees have been clarified, and a logical framework has been incorporated with pathways and channels of engagements to enable successful implementation of the research uptake model. / Health Studies / Ph.
