Är onboarding nyckeln till arbetsmotivation? : En kvantitativ enkätstudie / Is onboarding a key to work motivation? : A quantitative survey study

Karlsson, Emma, Johansson, Isabella January 2020 (has links)

The Use of Imagery for the Control of Experimentally Induced Pain: Prescribed Versus Individualized Imagery

Winslow, Chester Douglas 12 1900 (has links)
Measures of pain tolerance and threshold were obtained for 100 male and female subjects in a pretest treatment posttest experiment using the cold pressor test. Subjects were divided into five treatment groups with an equal representation of males and females in each group. In addition each group was divided into high and low locus of control, resulting in a 2 X 5, locus of control-by—treatment, experimental design. Treatment groups received one of the following five sets of instructions: prescribed pleasant imagery, prescribed angry imagery, self-generated pleasant imagery, self-generated angry imagery, and expectancy control. Credibility checks were obtained on all groups, and an ANOVA revealed no significant differences in credibility ratings among the groups.

Experience of Time as a Function of Locus of Control

Payton, Tommy O. I. 08 1900 (has links)
The purpose of the study was to determine the effects that achievement and locus of control have on a person's ability to estimate the passage of time. The subjects were a group of 116 college students enrolled in an introductory psychology course at Mountain View College. Achievement was measured by the grade obtained in the course, and the locus of control was measured by the individual's score obtained on the Rotter Internal-External Locus of Control Scale. Five different cutoffs were used to determine the locus of control orientation (internal/external). The data were analyzed using analysis of variance techniques. No significant differences between any of the groups were found.

Locus of control and depression as mechanisms in the relationship between racial discrimination and substance use

Shirin Khazvand (9739502) 07 January 2021 (has links)
<div>Exposure to racial discrimination has been consistently linked with risk for substance use. However, outside of affect-based factors, few other mechanisms have been examined in the literature. One potential candidate is locus of control (LOC). LOC is a learning processes that involves the degree to which an individual attributes rewards as resulting from their own control (internal LOC) versus outside control (external LOC). There is evidence that exposure to stressors is associated with LOC, with a separate body of literature linking LOC with substance use. Thus, it is plausible that LOC may be a mechanism underlying the relationship between racial discrimination and substance use. Additionally, there is evidence that depression is related to LOC. Thus, the relationship between racial discrimination, locus of control, and substance use may also be serially mediated through depressive symptoms. The current study investigated these two pathways among 503 racial/ethnic minority adults aged 18-35 who completed an online questionnaire that included measures on racial discrimination related stress, locus of control, depressive symptoms, and substance use. Results indicated a significant indirect effect of racial discrimination related stress through external locus of control, specifically the chance orientation, on substance use. Moreover, for both domains of external locus of control (i.e., chance and powerful others) a significant serial indirect effect was found through depressive symptoms within the racial discrimination-substance use pathway among racial/ethnic minority adults. These findings expand our understanding on potential mechanisms that underlie the racial discrimination-substance use risk pathway among racial/ethnic minority adults, which may in turn provide important targets for substance use intervention programming for this population.</div>

Kochani, Lavdze January 2021 (has links)
The aim of this study is to examine what people with a late (adult) ADHD diagnosis experience was contributing to the late diagnosis. The empirism of this study is mainly interviews with adults that have been diagnosed with ADHD. By applying a thematic analysisas a method, the empirics have been able to be categorized and analyzed. Based on the theoretical models of the labeling theory and locus of control, the result has been interpreted as meaning that the interviewees were labeled incorrectly before diagnosis took place and that a big development can be seen around the person's locus of control. The result shows that there are numerous factors which can be claimed to contribute to a late diagnosis. The majority of the respondents highlight the importance of the environment and mostly adults whether its school staff or members of the family. Factors such as cultural norms, prejudices and lack of knowledge are also crucial when it comes to when in life one gets his diagnosis. The study also examines how it affects people to recieve a late diagnosis, the result shows that an early diagnosis would have reduced the respondents sufferings and improve their life quality.

Factors influencing perceptions of teachers : the role of locus of control and academic perceptions of self

Villalpando, Eugenia P. 01 January 2015 (has links)
This study examined teacher-student relationships from the perspective of adolescent students. Poor relationships between students and teachers can lead to many negative outcomes, such as school failure and risky behaviors. While this relationship has been analyzed often, it is typically from the point of view of the teacher rather than the student. Individual cognitive appraisals of both efficacy and attribution impact how feedback from teachers is interpreted. Of particular interest is whether individuals attribute academic failures to external sources, such as teachers, which could impact the 5 teacher-student relationship. Determining factors that influence students' perceptions of teachers has implications for both student- and teacher-centered interventions. Data on academic self-efficacy, self-concept, locus of control, and perception of teachers was obtained from a racially diverse population of approximately 500 participants from a Catholic high school in Northern California. Path analysis was used to analyze possible causal relationships. Results indicate that both academic self-efficacy and locus of control significantly impact students' attitudes toward teachers. Locus of control was also found to partially mediate the relationship between academic self-efficacy and perceptions of teachers. Boosting academic self-efficacy will likely improve students' perceptions of their teachers. Attribution retraining is also implicated as an appropriate intervention to improve perceptions of teachers for students with low academic self-efficacy.

Impact of Locus of Control and Incentives on Team Performance and Job Satisfaction

Cooper, Betty A. 12 1900 (has links)
With the growing use of teams in organizations and schools there is a need to better understand the individual differences of employees that might potentially increase performance and improve attitudes. The purpose of this study was to assess the impact of locus of control, which was the individual difference of interest in this study, and incentives on team performance and job satisfaction.
