Zugangsmanagement für Wireless LANParthey, Mirko 31 December 2001 (has links)
This paper describes a solution which enables mobile devices to transparently access the campus network and the Internet. Different user classes are provided, and security issues are taken into account. The requirements for user machines are low, and the software is nearly maintenance-free for the network administrator after installation and configuration.

Security issues in Address Autoconfiguration ProtocolsLanger, André, Kühnert, Tom 20 April 2007 (has links) (PDF)
Dynamic address assignment is one of the most important
features in wireless ad hoc networks if nodes should be
enabled to join and to work in the network by
automatically configuring all necessary settings. Different
approaches have been developed throughout the last years
to achieve this objective of Dynamic Address
Autoconfiguration but research primarily focused on
efficiency and correctness, less on security issues.
Whereas Duplicate Address Detection has become reliable
in commonplace scenarios, it is still relatively easy to
suspend the whole network functionality in extraordinary
situations within the boundaries of a Dynamic Address
Configuration Protocol. In this paper, we therefore want to
point out shortcomings and weaknesses in existing
protocol solutions which address dynamic IP address
assignment. We concentrate on a leader-based approach
called ODACP and want to propose several solutions
which improve the original protocol in such a way that it
is safer against malicious host activities. Finally, we will
demonstrate the improvements of our solution in a
separate test scenario.

Strategy for the Digitalization of the Local Television Program Archives in SaxonyEckardt, André, Eibl, Maximilian, Rickert, Markus, Steinmetz, Rüdiger 16 October 2017 (has links)
The German Free State of Saxony has a high density of independent local and regional television broadcasters. From the antenna communities at the time of the GDR, private TV broadcasters developed after the reunification. In the period of the social transformations in the 1990s, these local TV stations documented the profound changes of the everyday life of the individual, of the local communities and the historical transformations in society and economy during the early years after the German reunion. These recordings are a substantial part of the cultural heritage of Saxony and of the highest interest for social, cultural and media research. Due to how the original material was produced on consumer videotapes, today the recordings are threatened by decay. In the next few years the recordings will be lost, if not acted quickly. Some state and private institutions are currently developing concepts for the preservation of the audiovisual heritage in Saxony In this paper, we discuss how these media objects should be scientifically investigated, in the sense of media and sociocultural dimensions, questions and categories. Based on our experiences and investigations, we present a technical concept which shows how to digitalize, index, describe and categorize copious amounts of videotapes for the preservation, archiving and public access of this important part of the cultural heritage of Germany.
