Para tanto, usinou-se dois tipos de corpos de prova, de aço ABNT 52100 temperado e revenido com dureza média de 60 HRc (Rockwell C), com ferramentas de corte de PCBN (65% de CBN) e cerâmica mista ('Al IND. 2¿ 'O IND. 3¿ + TiC) encontradas no mercado. Monitorou-se os ensaios via corrente do motor principal e emissão acústica, com a finalidade de determinar o momento da substituição da ferramenta de corte. Após a análise dos resultados, chegou-se às seguintes conclusões: a) é possível substituir as operações de retificação por torneamento com máquina de projeto mecânico convencional, uma vez que se obteve qualidade IT5 e rugosidade menor que Ra = 0,6 'mu¿m, com vidas das ferramentas suficientemente longas para determinadas aplicações; b) os métodos de análise dos sinais de emissão acústica e corrente do motor utilizados, não se mostraram adequados para indicar o momento da troca da ferramenta; c) em geral, a ferramenta cerâmica apresentou vida média maior que a ferramenta de PCBN, porém com uma dispersão também maior / Abstract: The main goal of this work is to study the feasibility of turning hardened steels using a lathe with a conventional mechanical design (without hydrostatic bearings), aiming to replace grinding operations. For this purpose, two kinds of quenched and tempered 52100 steel workpieces were machined, with average hardness of 60 HRc, using PCBN (65% of CBN) and mixed ceramic ('Al IND 2¿¿O IND. 3¿ + TiC) tools. Both the electrical current of the main motor and the acoustic emission were monitored, aiming to automatically establish the moment to replace the tool. After the result analyses, the following conclusions were drawn: a) it is possible to replace grinding operations by turning with a conventional mechanical design lathe, since the workpiece quality obtained was within IT5 and the surface roughness was below Ra = 0.6 ' 'mu¿m, with tool life long enough for this kind of applications; b) the tool life monitoring through acoustic emission and electrical current of the main motor did not show to be suitable to establish the moment to replace the tool; c) in general, mixed ceramic tool had longer average toollife than PCBN tool, but presented larger scatter / Doutorado / Materiais e Processos de Fabricação / Doutor em Engenharia Mecânica

Avaliação do desempenho de brocas especiais de metal duro tratadas por processo termoquímico

Dependendo da característica da indústria, nem sempre, a operação de torneamento de aços é a que aparece com maior frequência. Geralmente a operação de furação destes materiais ocupa espaço relativo abaixo da operação citada. Entretanto, a Empresa Müller Metais Indústria e Comércio que decidiu colaborar de forma decisiva para a elaboração deste trabalho, é totalmente voltada para a usinagem de furos em chapas de grandes dimensões e de diversas espessuras. As chapas são geralmente de Aço Carbono, mas, também existe a incidência de furos em chapas de Aço Inoxidável. O número de furos pode variar entre 500 até 2500 por peça. As brocas possuem um suporte sobre o qual é fixado um inserto de geometria especialmente projetada para atender a qualidade exigida da superfície interna do furo. Os insertos são de metal duro classe ISO K15 e revestidos por PVD multicamadas à base de AlCr sobre o referido substrato. O critério para troca de ferramenta é baseado em um número de furos (vida) previamente adotado em função da experiência acumulada ao longo do tempo. A Empresa Müller Metais Indústria e Comércio vêm trabalhando no sentido de aumentar a produtividade para melhor fazer frente a demanda crescente por parte de clientes de diversas áreas que utilizam tais peças. O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar os mecanismos de desgastes ocorridos em brocas especiais com insertos intercambiáveis de metal duro visando melhorar o desempenho dos mesmos. Os insertos foram banhados por um produto antiatrito e em seguida mantidos em estufa à temperatura da ordem de 80C por 30 minutos provocando, desta forma, um tratamento termoquímico da superfície do inserto. / Depending on the characteristic of the industry, turning operation of steel is not always the one that appears most frequently. Generally drilling operation is less mentioned and used by industries. However, the company Müller Metals Industry and Trade that decided to collaborate decisively to the development of this work. They were fully geared for machining holes in large plates with various thicknesses. The plates are usually carbon steel, but there is also the incidence of holes in plates of stainless steel. The number of holes can vary from 500 to 2500. The drills have a support on which insert are fixed. The inserts are ISO K15 grade carbide and coated multilayer PVD -based AlCr on the carbide substrate. The Company Müller Metals Industry and Commerce has been working to increase productivity to better cope with increasing demand from clients in various areas using such parts. The objective of this study is to analyze wear mechanisms in special drills with interchangeable cemented carbide inserts to improve their behavior. To achieve this goal the drills should be treated by anti friction product at a temperature of about 80 C.

O presente trabalho apresenta uma revisão bibliográfica sobre o processo de serramento por serra de fita, abordando fatores relativos ao desempenho de corte nas diversas operações deste processo. Na seqüência, apresentam-se os seguintes estudos específicos: características da madeira que exercem influência nas operações de serramento por serra de fita: o processo de serramento e; ferramentas de corte. A fim de se verificar os aspectos teóricos especificados na literatura para adequação do processo de serramento, efetuou-se um estudo de caso em uma serraria, usinando-se a espécie de madeira Pinus oocarpa em operação de desdobro com serra de fita vertical. Neste estudo, realizou-se a medição da potência consumida durante o corte com aquisição de dados em tempo real, a qual possibilitou calcular a potência de corte média. / The present work shows a bibliographical review on band sawing, in respect to the factors related to cutting performance during the several operations of such process. Moreover, the following studies are presented: wood characteristics influencing the band sawing; sawing process itself; and cutting tools. In order to check the theorical aspects encountered in the literature to adequate the sawing process, a case study in a sawmill plant has been carried out. Pinus oocarpa wood species has been machied by unfolding using a vertical bandsaw. The consumed power during the cutting process was measured by a data acquisition system in real time, what allowed the calculation of the average cutting power.

Este trabalho teve por objetivo estudar o efeito dos parâmetros de corte e dos tratamentos térmicos na usinagem de três aços inoxidáveis austeníticos (ABNT 303, 304 e 310). Estes aços apresentam mesma estrutura cristalina e microestrutura semelhante. O aço ABNT 303 tem composição próxima ao ABNT 304, exceto pelo elevado teor de enxofre. Já o aço ABNT 310 apresenta maiores teores de elementos de ligas. Esses materiais foram tratados termicamente (solubilização ou envelhecimento). Os aços estudados foram caracterizados microestruturalmente e foram realizadas medidas de dureza Vickers. Os aços foram então torneados em várias condições de usinagem, variando principalmente a relação avanço por profundidade de corte. Foram medidas as forças de corte e de avanço em algumas das condições e coletados os cavacos resultantes para análise morfológica, que foram realizadas utilizando-se principalmente microscopia óptica e eletrônica de varredura. Foram também medidas as rugosidades e determinados os perfis das superfícies usinadas para a avaliação do acabamento superficial. Os resultados obtidos neste trabalho permitiram determinar algumas diferenças no comportamento dos três aços inoxidáveis estudados. As maiores diferenças foram verificadas quando as superfícies foram observadas utilizando microscopia. O aço ABNT 303 apresentou as piores superfícies e os menores esforços de corte em relação aos aços ABNT 304 e 310. A utilização de diferentes ferramentas neste trabalho mostrou influência principalmente na formação do cavaco, não tendo muita influencia nos esforços de corte e tão pouco no acabamento superficial. Os tratamentos térmicos realizados propiciaram a formação de outras fases, as quais causaram alterações na microestrutura. No entanto, esses tratamentos térmicos não alteraram de forma significativa o processo de torneamento. Finalmente, a formação de martensitas induzidas por deformação foi identificada no cavaco, mas não pode ser quantificada. / The main objective of this work is to study and evaluate the effect of cutting parameters, the cutting tool and the heat treatments in the turning process of three different types of austenitic stainless steels (ABNT 303, 304 e 310). The steels studied are structurally and microstructurally comparable. The chemical composition of the ABNT 303 and the ABNT 304 is similar except for the presence of sulfur in the ABNT 303 steel which alloeds the manganese sulfide formation. On the other hand, the ABNT 310 steel is richer in alloying elements and has lower tendency to strain induced martensite formation than the other steels studied. The steels studied were also heat treated in different conditions (annealed and aged). The materials were microstructurally characterized and Vickers hardness was also measured. The turning tests were carried out by using different cutting parameters, mainly the feedcutting depth relations. These relations lead to a plane state of tension or a plane state of deformation. The cutting and feed forces were measured during turning tests. During the tests the chips were also collected for morphological analysis through optical and scanning electron microscopies. The roughness and the surfaces characteristics were also determined to evaluate the surface finishing. The major difference in the steels turned was related to surface finishing observed by using optical and scanning electron microscopies. On the whole, the ABNT 303 steel presented the worst surface and the lowest cutting forces. However, the differences among all results were not significant. The tests carried out also showed there was not considerable difference between the tools used except for the chip morphology. The heat treatments led to precipitation in the steels studied and changes in their microstructure. However, the microstructural changes hardly affected the results of the turning tests. Finally, the martensite formation was detected although this phase could be not quantified.

The goal is to understand deeper the process, and develop a tool which permits to model a wide range of end-mill tool geometries, and most of 3-axis milling operations.In this report, the following axis will be developed: • The modeling of the complex tool geometry • The modeling of uncut chip thicknesses in slot milling, and for any 3-axis milling operation • The strategy which has been chosen to identify cutting forces coefficients, and their use. • The obtained results and prospects for development.

The subject of this thesis is the design of production technology of the hydraulic cylinder – the part of servomotor of a steam turbine control valve. The main precondition is a perspective technology of manufacturing the component on a single workplace using Siemens NX10 CAM system. The implementation of this work was carried out in cooperation with the Siemen, s.r.o., the branch of Industrial Turbomachinery in Brno. Part of the thesis is a brief introduction to the issue of steam turbines. The main part is devoted to analysis of a selected component in terms of technology, design of the best strategy of production technology and its implementation. The conclusion deals with the technical and economic assessment of the proposal.
